- We got the car to run, we got the car to drive, now let's see if it will make a trip to the gas station! It is around a ten mile round trip, hopefully our repairs to the cooling system, brake system, and the swapped engine will make it!

50 some years ago I was the "Landon" to the older guys in my neighborhood. I bet he remembers this trip his entire life! Good on you, Ben!
I have several similar memories. Driving the neighbor girl's boyfriend's 'Cuda around the block when I was 11 is right up there!
CHEERS! 🇱🇷
@@nolenryan what a story
Major successful resurrection of a classic car, Ben. Well done. "Doctor Corvette" saves another patient from an early grave to give some deserving owner years of fun! 😉👍👍
Ha!!! Noodle and Chopstick!!!! i have not seen them in so long!!! Im looking forward to this build too!! Great job
Sweet car. Last of the steel bumpered C3s. And my favorite color, white. I have owned 3 C3 Corvettes, a 1974, 1976, and a 1977. No steel bumper cars. They were out of my price range. I bought the '77 in 1990. One thing I learned right a way is that older Corvettes need a complete suspension rebuild, front and rear, ALL new body mounts, ALL new brakes, meaning every single part replaced, and ALL new steering parts. The '77 was a beautiful car, obviously had been garaged and taken care of cosmetically, but every single rubber part on it had rotted, the ball joints, tie rods, and that hydraulic cylinder for the power steering were worn out, all 4 unlined brake calipers were rusted and leaking, and the car only had 67K miles on it. GM quality was pretty bad back then. It's one saving grace was it had absolutely no rust. It was an original AZ car. But I spent more on repairs than I paid for the car.
I'm not a Chevy guy, but I always wanted a early C3 or a C2 Vette. My uncle had a '67 Vette up until his death, but he never drove it.
Great to see this one make it to the gas station, especially after all the TLC and parts you have given it.
Congratulations.
Landon is a video artist in the making. 😀
Been with you since nearly the beginning Ben, and I gottta say...I love this darn thing. You saved it from certain death, and she is alive again. Since I am a sentimentalist I hope the car continues to be improved, but I understand the $ involved in that...having spent most of my 63 years falling in love with cars has cost me a small fortune. Anyway, well done, and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I grew up in St. Louis when the C3's were rolling (crawling) off the line downtown. It was like opening a centerfold to a Playboy magazine when my Scout troop visited the plant in the fall of 1971--maybe about the time this sweet heart was being assembled. I don't think men, in any other country on this planet (other than maybe Italy or Germany or France or England) hold in their hearts the affinity with which we have, as red-blooded American men, as we do with our cars.
so nice to see this one saved. My 69 had those same hubcaps. I miss that car. Base model 350/300 automatic - black interior. Monaco Orange.
Success! I'm so happy to see this Vet make a short trip and back without any problems for you. I like the blue interior you chose for it as well. I look forward to seeing more improvements/updates you will be making on this car soon. Congratulations on the work you've done on it so far.
For the power steering, send me the thickness of the washers and the hole size and I'll machine you a spacer for it.
A big block chrome bumper C3 corvette is my dream car. I love your video series when you have done what you seem to be doing with this one where you take A C3 from a jalopy and turn it I to rather decent and solid driving car. I’ll watch your videos like this all day long.
I want to dye my interior blue. It looks fabulous!!!
Unexpected dog is always a bonus.
I've always loved the pre-1974, squared off rear. Especially with chrome bumpers! Sexiest body style ever! 😍🇱🇷
Superlative work...as usual. The interior is looking splendiferous.
So impressed by all you have done with this car. I like it every bit as much as you and can’t believe how far it has come.
Great solutions to problems under the hood.
No heat riser on intake for choke..? No problem
White with a Blue interior looks really nice, great work Ben
Poor stingray 😆 but it’s in great hands, I look forward to seeing it all cleaned up!
Landon did great as your camera man and dog whisperer. When he panned around the car while it was being refueled, I was thinking he was riding on the floor, but you took care of him, and gave him his own seat. My 88 Dodge Aries is in pretty good condition, but after almost every ride, I like to look under the hood for leaks, etc. and also see if anything smells like trouble. If you could teach your dogs to sniff for leaks and report back to you, that would be good!
Brings back memories, my 1st Vette was a new '72, white with saddle leather tan interior, 4 speed. Wish I still had it.
Thanks for the video Ben
I love a classic with significant patina, (holes even), but is proper under the hood, etc. (Who paints a carburetor?)
...Not practical for me, but I think the only 'Vette I'd consider is one like this. Old enough not be trying to be Hugh Hefner/ Dirk Diggler- Knowing fully that it's a Coke bottle shaped 2 seat Blazer- Chevy 350 with disc brakes.... What a badass car.
Great stuff as usual... thanks for posting & thanks to Landon!
Congratulations!! You deserve a free... attaboy! I see that Noodle and chopstick want to share the festive occasion with a friend of theirs. Interior is looking much better, liking the blue looks nice! Safe travels my friend enjoy your holidays.
Great job Ben, it's looking better each time you show it. Thanks for sharing
A solid daily driver. 😉
Great video. Thank you Ben!
I deem it road worthy, so thank you.
Are you keeping it or selling? I have a 92 Corvette and everyplace I go a lot of people tell me they traded their Corvette for a Mustang. I tell them good luck. I waited 60 years to buy my Corvette.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Great job again Ben. Great job with the camera Landon.
Welcome to Landon! Great camera work! Ben, glad to see this back on the road! Well done! Can’t wait to see more!
CONGRATS!!! Please buy a gopro that has video stabilization, or run it through a stabilization processor on your computer ... making some motion sickness here LoL, but GREAT JOB! love the car
The cameraman was 14 and it was his first time. Give him a break
Wow interior is gonna look great.dash looks awesome
Great job. Somthing about white cars. My brothers 70 was a work bench for awhile.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Great job Ben
🇺🇸👍 slowly but surely you are getting it there, what’s next the exhaust leaks ?
If my investments ever take off I want Ben to do a complete restoration on my 82’ CE. Is that something The Corvette Ben viewers would want to see? A very nice weekend car to take my wife out on dates! I would even spring for valet parking!
Good job Corvette Ben. I like that model of corvette.
Use a 73 or newer hood to give the required clearance along with alignment to the bottom of the windshield.
Big improvement on the Bette nice
Love the videos keep them coming
Corvette Ben.I have a 1977 corvette,It has over 113000 miles on it,i change oil,every 3000 miles,tuneup every 10,000 miles I do not abuse it,Drive it 70 miles a week,mostly highway,How many miles do you think it will last,before i need to replace engine.thanks russ boyd. how many miles does,,a 1977 l48 engine last?
Check out the progress on my 69 Corvette. First drive is always the best!
Good job once again. Now it is a real car, not just appears to be a car.
Haven’t seen any of your videos in quite some time, glad to see one today I enjoyed it
You should click the notification bell because I try to put them out weekly
love the co driver - "will it make it" - "no" LOL
Beautiful job ben my 76 is losing break liquor out of the back bowl can not find the leak
Owned a Z06 or two, but that Speedometer dash with 160 MPH, Yeah, Good luck with that.
Maybe on a 10 mile stretch of road, in the Rockie Mountains, going downhill, with the wind behind you,
P02 hubcaps! sweet
I have one of those factory hubcaps hanging in my garage.
With the new parts and the old parts it looks like Christine. ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Sweet car. Awesome progress. Time to invest in a gimbal camera!
Keep the body the way it is ... Just install all the chrome and leave it alone....
I want this car!
So the flasher turned into a baby rattle. Cool.
You need to change that fuel filter. It's nasty!
Great videos Ben! I have a question for you....I just bought a 1972 Roadster LT-1 Targa Blue with Blue interior. This is my fifth Corvette and the third one I have restored / preserved myself.
What brand of dye did you use on this car? I have used SEM with good results but the 72 Blue is a new one for me...The color looks like a pretty good match. Thanks!
I have a bunch of OEM 1970 black corvette Interior pieces. If you want any just let me know by the looks of it you might need them depending on what your parts cars have on them.
Man I love that white one. Love to have it
Is it for sale now ?
Yeah Ben 👍
Fuel filter looks really brown looks like it needs changing
👍
Ben Is King!!!
That car would make a great first car/project for a kid like Landon.
Yep except chrome bumper Vettes usually are too expensive for a young kid to get into. That was the case for me In High school
Ben I need this car
"Landon, I have two jobs for you. 1. Be the camera man while I drive. 2. If the engine stops, get out and push while I drive."
Where did you get that bright blue dash? I don't think that was a factory color. At least I don't remember ever seeing one.
That wire you hooked up to the temp sensor looked like it was laying on the exhaust manifold or darn close enough that the heat might affect it.
Glad to see that you got it running.
I haven't seen any of your videos for a while but I like that black vette in the garage.
Dash was dyed using a can of factory color dye. This car was originally blue on blue
Engine must be running to properly check trans fluid!
I had a strange thing happen with my 70 vette after sitting in my garage for about a year. The master cylinder was dry so I filled it up with brake fluid and it was fine. The floor was dry, no fluid on the floor, where did the brake fluid go??? It doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere and the brakes are fine.
All the neighborhood dogs are excited about the Corvette!
Ok dumb question, back then was the power steering variable assist?
i like c3 corvette.
Good on ya Ben. From the field to where she is now is nothing short of amazing. I'm looking at an '03 with 42K miles. Wish I lived near you so you could check it out for me. Great work !
Hope you show video of body work.
I've been following but I might of missed it. Do you know why someone neglected a Vette so bad, or at least would not of sold it before neglecting it? Thanks for the Videos
He was a drunk, that’s all I know
What was making that groaning sound in the rear end?, My 77 makes the exact same noise, I changed the diff oil and it still makes the noise. Could it be the u joints?
time to detail the 'vette
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
How was the alignment on the car, did it drive straight?
Have you ever seen a, Callaway Corvette??
Have you made or do you know of any good videos for late 1980 c3 dash and consol installation
How do you register a abandoned vette without the title?
Fire both Noodle and Chopstick for allowing a trespasser.................
Hey Ben, Do you have a part number for that electronic choke?
I just searched "quadrajet electric choke conversion" on ebay and bought the cheapest I could find.
@@TheCorvetteBen Thanks Ben!!!
Buy a Lotto ticket!
Fuel filter is not looking good
Score. But real world costs 4 rehab. About 10k. Right????
Who is whining about the windshield patina?? Between that and the smells, it adds to the "experience" of old girls like this one.
People whine about a dirty windshield
Did you really call that dog big and ugly??
"The gas is coming down". Gas jumps to 3 a gallon couple days later. Let's Go Brandon.
Looks like the color on the dash is pretty far off.
2nd COMMENT!!!!!!
Great work but watching the road as you drive is incredibly boring. Any car looks like that. It’d be much better to see the car driving from another car. That wind noise was awful. Love your work though.
Are you going to come and film it from another car? I usually make these videos all myself and that is something that is impossible for one person to do
@@TheCorvetteBen No disrespect meant. I appreciate the content you create. I wish I was closer and would love to help.
No offense taken. I wish I had someone with a bunch of free time to help me film
