- We have a few things to fix along the way BUT today was the first day this car ran and drove since it had been abandoned in a field for 10+ years getting rained in with the hood off.

My wife and l just saw this and it was awesome, our 79 sat in our shop for over ten years “due to racing” and we couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces the first time we drove it on the road after restoring her.
Almost nothing more satisfying than getting cars that deserve it back on the road. If she runs and stops, she ought to be drivin'.
Please do not change. You have multiple gifts, and one is the fact that you got me watching all your stuff. You are a natural teacher and great mechanic that respects the craftsmanship of my favorite vehicle. My dad passed away and left my brothers and I his 63 roadster with a 454 ls6. Drum brakes are mfkn scary! No power steering, seat belts, or dual master cylinder. The way it was, but with 450 ft lbs of torque. 4:11 gears for the quarter mile. It is the car I rode home in when I was born. Blah blah blah, keep up the awesome content! ~Corey
_From put out to pasture, to back on the road again with a decent engine, plus many new components. Been watching your channel for years, and have personally spoke to you about my car(s). Thank you for saving another chrome bumper white diamond in the rough. A job well done Ben! (Here's to many more vlogs on making a driver quality 1972 Corvette coupe a decent car to restore, rebuild, or resto-mod)._
Diamond in the ruff Diamond in the ruuff
Hay Ben, this was one of your more satisfying videos, I pretty sure I've watched all of your work, but I have had 6 corvettes, and this poor boy was looking as it was headed to your 'bone Yard" but this is going to be interesting to see what you have planned for it. I always love seeing one more saved from the crusher. In a "Throw Away World" it is great to see history saved one more time. Thank you for the excellent videos.
Good job Corvette Ben that car really shifted good wish you could upload more videos thanks brother looking forward to your next update👍
"Luke Skywalker glove" gave me a good laugh! Great video, I love seeing enthusiasts resurrect old iron (fiberglass too), I look forward to seeing the path this car takes from here!
I look forward to your vids more than anybody else's. Thanks for bringing old corvette back to life.
Another deserving piece of Americana saved from the trash heap! Well done, sir!
Parts cars are always nice to have around. There worth it every time you need a special bolt, screw or clip that GM discontinued 30 years ago.
Yes they are, can't tell you how many times its saved me.
Amazing! From junk car to driving car...Got to love it.
Manual or non powered brakes are great providing you know how to use them properly but thanks for keeping this Vette from the grave.
Isn't it nice to breathe new life into a slug that's been left for dead? Thank you for the video & ride along.......Bob
Running & Driving 👍
bless you for restoring this beauty..and, hope someday, you can give previous owner a ride...
a 3M metal/wood stripper wheel ,works great on cleaning up rotors
Your one of the best Corvette mechanic’s in the US . Love watching your work. Once you get the carburetor tuned in. And the timing. You got it. Going to be fun watching the interior put back as well the body work. Thank you for sharing your videos. Just amazing 🤩
So very cool that you're saving that car.
Definitely keep *Clean Windshield* on the pre-test-drive checklist!
I am too old and ill to do this kind of work anymore but it sure is fun watching you wrench!
Ben, I reached out to you a couple months ago about parts for my 81 Corvette. Phone crashed, lost your email address. I,ve finally got it home, ready for parts.
Nice work Ben.
OMG … i would be totally overwhelmed … ur a Trooper !!
I probably have a column for your Corvette! I would sell it for a lot less than the 500 you said it would take to rebuild that one. I wish I had your patience. Great job
It's great to see the Corvette back on the road. Thanks for sharing this with us.
👏👏👏👏👏.
That was a satisfying run around the block.
Now so curious as to what you do next with interior, engine tuning, etc…I kind of dig the “patina”,and the idea of a working man’s project ‘Vette really hits home with me.
Excellent!
I really enjoy your Corvette Video's, i have learnt alot from you...Thanks CorvetteBen!
Nice work Ben, got to keep these cars on the road.
I have to admit I'm amazed to see this Corvette being driven so soon as I thought it would be a very, very, long time before you could have it running enough to drive around the block a few times before now. I'm very happy for you. Well done!
I wish I lived closer to you. I have a 79 that I need help with the differential. No one in central NY has a clue.
Success. When you get finished with this how ever far down the hole you intend to go with it, you got a winner.
I enjoy watching you enjoy driving your car! Safe and pleasant journeys to you!
I'm ready! I'm ready!
Gotta say there's a little bit to doing fiberglass repair. Then the engine is a walk in the park. I love 71s and the 72s
looks much better in this vid with the side vents, sill trims and bumpers on!
I subscribed to see this vette taken to paint and everything working,go for it
Wow, amazing job you never cease to surprise your viewers! I do believe we did see you repairing a baba repair with your very own Bubba repair! I would imagine most of your longtime subscribers would agree with me some Windex might make the car run better... great job!
Thanks
Nice to see a little longer episode, its coming along nicely. Thanks john from arizona
A better than average video, Ben. At least to me.
Good job, good reporting as you went along.
Not just my ex’s live in Texas. My friend Ben too.
My best to the family too.
That’s awesome that you got it running!
Really happy for you! You’ve done an awesome job bringing this one back from the break!
So glad I came across your channel, I love seeing you work on my dream car!
what a great feeling to get a project out for the first drive. sweet!
whats up with the '68 Elky? i looovvve those.
I saw that too lol was wondering if someone was gonna mention it 😅
This is going to be the most awesome car,,, congrats on bringing her back to life,,, keep up the good work,,
Congrats on a job well done! I love your enthusiasm when you were out for a drive. Looking forward to more!!
Thank you so much Ben. Great Video. Love it! Go forward to bring this beauty back on street soon.
Congratulations! Nice job!
You are doing a great job!
Right on.....she rides again!!!!
Dang Ben, that's fantastic work!! It's SO sweet to see all those hours and effort come to fruition!!
You're amazing!!! Thanks!!!
Congratulations on getting her running! And, thanks for the video!
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Great videos. thanks keep up the hard work
Huge fan of this channel. Learned a lot from Ben. Thank you
Been watching you. I have a 76 really nice but issues. Fixed em. Learned some from you. Thanks.
There’s a blue one next-door over here where I live it’s been there for years I never have asked the guy about it and I have not looked at it too close but it’s there. i’m down here in South Texas
Ben, you could "technical" roll the car off a cliff and not have to worry about any steering wheel but my god man that dash(or lack there of)is a freaking disaster!! We all know you will power right through it and do it right. 😁
Fix it with the Force Ben!
Enjoyed the video man.
Your a better man than me brother, looking at all that work to do is stressing me out.
I have a clock and oil pressure gauge to remove and try to get working and can’t bring myself to do it.
EXCITING!!
Obviously a long way to go, but great job getting it running and driving! It will be interesting to see how far you fix it up....and I love the El Camino
Windshield evaluation 👍
Yeah Ben
Good job, ready for the next 50 years, much "greener" than new pos junk without engine that you have to throwaway after 5 years because battery went bad.
Very Good!...
I like your work 🙂❤️
Dude you are just as bad as me (ie driving with the interior all ripped apart)- the Luke glove is priceless, too!!! Great vid.
And PS really like your neighborhood I like the country look nice Open Road
Ben I wish I had half of your knowledge when it comes to my 68 small block. Especially carburetor experience.
I LOVE IT!
As a fellow Star Wars nerd, I laughed. Congrats on the drive.
What's up with the 68 elcamino? Now that's what I like. Believe it or not but the elcamino you got from I think your neighbor that was on the trailer I think? Anyway that was the videos that got me to subscribe. I love elcaminos lol
You the man Ben!
I'm Happy for you and I don't even own a Vette lol 🤣
Just an FYI ; you should really clean the rust off the rotors. Your pads will glaze immediately.
The print out from your battery tester is incase of a warranty claim. The printout must accompany the defective battery.
Going for the all white vehicle look I see!😁
A 68 elcamino in the yard?
Doesn't sound like all 8 are firing? Congrats on the first drive 👍
Do you think you can do a tutorial on how to change brake lines on a C3 Vette? I own a 1975 Vette and the brake lines need to be changed.
Lol pain in the ass get a torch
look at were they go,remove them,replace them.....use heat,penetrating fluid,pray a lot....
Do the 68 Elco!
Do you have equip the modular adjustment on the ‘72 for the kick down?
How do you get lucky enough to find a corvette abandoned in a field. I would love to have a 80-82 I could rebuild myself. I guess I’m a touch goofy I guess. I’m new to your channel but love seeing the c3s
Is that 68 el Camino next to the garage
If that 69 was like a special car say with 427 or whatever,a 74-80 frame will work with only slight mods to bring it back to life.
Slight mods? Like replace the back two feet of the frame?
slight mods,hahahahahahahahah 🤣
What's up with the 69 el-camino?
What is the mono spring in the rear suspension? How did it affect the ride?
👍🍻
Do you ever see a police car near your house, considering you don't have plates or insurance on the car, when you're out for a test drive ? The car probably wouldn't pass a safety-check either. Just wondered.
Negative
yep, lots of police hanging out in rural texas....🙃
Ben you work on all these vette's how can I find out how much you want to sell them for ??
Gotta ask I had a 70 a long time ago what would this one would go for now as is
maybe 18-20k
What is a red Quadrajet? Did someone paint it or something?
Great series! I'm curious why did you choose a car in so rough shape to restore?
Because honestly it is t rough. Just taken apart
_Seriously any C3, especially a chrome bumper car(which probably spent most of its life in Texas) is worth saving._
@@TheCorvetteBen Sorry. I do not understand too much about Corvettes.
So, I assuming, since it is fiberglass over a chassi, if the chassi is not rusted, you can put it together again with good parts like a puzzle, what is not so easy with other cars where, if the interior get wet for so long, the monocoque get rusted in so many places that becomes very difficult to do a proper restoration. Is that right? Thank you for the reply.
@@rubyred93chev Nice! Thank you for your reply.
I would like too know where to find a cheap 73 or newer c3
not on this planet, unless you like lots of hidden rust....spend the money to get a decent car and then enjoy the drive
Raising the dead!! :
Next time clean the rotor surfaces before adding new calipers and pads.
Next time don’t assume I didn’t!
