But it is important to give more power to the people that know at least anything about music. Juries are usually people chosen by their knowledge. If we were to give voting power entirely to the common people we would always choose joke entries because commoners have in general worse taste. It'd basically ruin the show.

This year was stronger than 2021 when we look at how competitive the songs are.
Also you’re missing a key detail, the semi finals.
With the new semifinal system, where the televote decides, it means that all the televote friendly songs get through while the more jury friendly songs get left behind. This causes what we saw last year and this year.
Another thing is that rim tim tagi dim could never have beat cha cha cha’s televote last year.
Cha cha cha was so much more popular with everyone getting him 374 points. Rim Tim Tagi Dim doesn’t have nearly as much hype and love, then adding on to that cha cha cha was just a much stronger and more competitive song then Croatia had this year.
Thus there’s just no chance that Croatia could’ve gotten over 350 points

Allowing people to vote 20 times from each device they have just enables rigging. And it is entirely possible for 12 points to be given with fewer than 5% of the votes cast. I think that if we were to go back to 100% televote, lots of changes would need to be made. Just giving points to the top 10 ends up distorting the result too.

it's not about who won, it's about yet again the jury decides the fate of the competition instead of the actual people... In 2010 they introduced these jury votes to prevent "neighbor" voting... As between 1997-2009 it was ONLY people votes and no jury.
The weight of the jury votes is massively skewed, it needs to be reduced to 30% or similar if not abolished completely.

To unite people through music the paying people should get to decide and not the jury. Furthermore, juries hate rock metal rap singers and go for sopranos and opera type. They should tell the artists beforehand how many points will be deducted for their genre. There are also inconsistencies from year to year between sopranos and rockers winning throughout the years, If any sporting teams wins the game on points the paying crowd knows a jury or referee shouldn't decide the win.

The problem is making the semi-finals televote only, the reason Switzerland got crowded around by the juries is that jury-friendly songs are less likely to qualify. If you don't want one country running away with the juries in the final, give them a say in the semis.
If we change the 50/50 system we'll end up with 30 Cha Cha Chas every year which might sound fun but really really wouldn't be. Giving a handful of people 50% of the vote may seem unfair but it's the best option there is

And no im not including Jamala or Duncan into it cause in their respected years, the jury, tele and overall winners were different, but their average score has decided. The past 2 years, it’s only jury choice cause the entries get such a margin of points, that they are impossible to surpass

0:21 That would have only been enough for SIXTH (6th) this year, but then again nothing about 2011 made sense lol

The most insane thing is there are 43 countries in 2011, and only 37+RotW in 2024

2011 is the biggest brain fuck I’ve ever seen 💀 I keep rewatching it and studying it because of how absurd it all was.
Basically no good song, like the best song (in my opinion) from that year wouldn’t even make it into my top 10 of any other year.
The scoring made absolutely no sense.
The televote and jury vote was sketchy beyond anything I’ve ever seen
      Etc

@@logi-a Thats why I give Azerbaijan a pass mark on winning- someone had to win, they were acceptable.

They were screwed over by the experimental way the jury and tele votes were combined in 2015. The next year it was changed to how it still is now.

That is the question I ask myself since 2015. That was exactly the song that the jury love. I like Mans a lot (actually he's even my personal winner from 2015) but I still think that Il Volo should have won in 2015. And after all these years it still hurts 😢

Without juries we had diaspora voting (mostly an issue for Turkey and Russia), block voting (ex-Yugoslav countries voting for each other, but also Greece+Cyprus, Scandinavia, Ireland-UK). I think juries should stay but the value of their points shouldn't be 50%, maybe 30%. Also, those jury members should be carefully chosen, unbiased experts.

Look I get it. People get annoyed when the artist who has the most jury votes wins. But do you all remember how horrible and gimmicky the contest got in the 2000s? I know that it's kind of funny to watch these crazy performances but it got to the point that the performers/countries put the focus on spectacle instead of the quality of the song. With the jury vote, at least the focus shifted again more in favour of quality and most performances are songs again instead of a gimmick.

While not my favorite, 2016 wouls have been much more deserved.
Its truly ridiculous how much impact jury has even if public literally pays out od their pockets. It should have been 25-75 in public favour at the vary least.
