A number of years -- more than 2 but less than 7 -- before you bought this magnificent lady, it was featured on a CZcams video for a channel that has since gone kaput. The couple looking at it, had money to burn but no DIY skills whatsoever. They brought a French contractor with them who kept shaking his head. Eventually, he told them that even with 1 million euros, she could not be fixed and would fall down around them. So, they looked elsewhere -- and kept looking and looking. When you started your channel, I said -- I know that property! I was enthralled with the structural repairs you completed and how you put the floors back like a puzzle. Your decorating was spot on. You should be proud that you saved this magnificent lady.
Yes it was hard work but worth it! 😊
Moral of the story. Don't trust a French contractor. That's why there are many of these semi abandoned chateaus.

Well if it was hiring help vs doing it themselves I think the contractor may have been justified. I think it goes without saying Adrian and Carole did not get ‘paid’ what it would have cost in labor the work they did.

Thank you, Adrian, Carole and Beth! for all the hard work in filming, editing all the time you have done your renovations on 'Chateau de la Ferte' and taking us along on this epic journey of which I have followed from the very beginning. It is bittersweet and sad and this video was done superbly and as you went through the before and after of each room, I was remembering some of the things that kept in my memory, like the marble fireplace, Carol repairing it, Adrian the wooden floors in the salon, hall way, Beth helping with painting and your beautiful humour and laughter. I hope the new owners will let us see the end product of the chateau. I wish you Carole, Adrianne, Beth the very best in your transition back to England and you all should be so proud of what you achieved with this magnificent Chateau. I will miss the renovation. Big hugs to you all and look forward to your new adventures. What will your channel be called or do we follow on Chateau de la Ferte?

You all really put everything into this project and you did a beautiful job! While it's sad that you weren't able to complete it, the chateau's next owners will hopefully carry on the tradition and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you left a bit of yourselves as a part of its history, as well as introducing the world to the chateau and to your own family. You took on something that many of us dream of doing, but most of us don't have anywhere near the courage to actually do! I've always heard that owning a boat is like buying a hole in the water, into which you throw all your money. Everything I see on all the chateau channels I watch makes me think that owning a chateau is much the same. Thanks for taking us along on your journey, and all the best as you move on to your next life adventure!

It is amazing how much you accomplished in a relatively short time. It is sad that you could not finish bringing her fully back to life. Ah! but what you did manage you did extremely well. The basic bones of the chateau are mostly done, floors made safe, walls cleaned and drywalled where needed. The grounds are cleared and its secrets uncovered. You can tell this was a labour of love. It would have been nice to have known you recouped what you put into her, but the necessity to sell fairly fast and the markets dictate the selling price.
I look forward to seeing your next projects, because I am sure there will be more to come. I honestly cannot see you sitting back without a major project in the works. Happy hunting in England for that over looked gem to bring back life into it. Saskatchewan, Canada.

You did so much work, yet there is more to do to finish the restoration. I hope the new owners continue and this piece of history is preserved and lived in for future generations. It is a beautiful building. The work in the grounds is impressive, nature reclaims so quickly. I enjoyed the videos and the shopping trips. The humor between both of you will be missed.

We just left our 200 year old farmhouse in Canada after 3 years of renovations, top to bottom. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye, but I think I'm actually slightly more saddened to say goodbye to all of you and your beautiful chateau.
Thanks Carole and Adrian for taking us on your journey with Chateau de la Ferte, and thanks too for Beth's editing skills and for this valedictory vlog. I think what you both did with the Grand Salon, puzzling out how the floor was to be laid and gold leafing all the plaster accents was probably the highlight. We were still looking forward to what you would do with the top floor and the Coach house but at the end of the day, love of family is more important than property. That's not to say I won't be looking out for what you plan for your next home. Best wishes to you all.
