      Awesome video, she’s great at explaining. The idea of needing 2 days at a stealership for software updates after owning a Model 3 performance for 3 years is nuts. And paying 2x more for a EV with 50% less range, worse software (the maps were unbelievably slow and looked like a 15 year old Ford infotainment) , and it’s slower than the Tesla that’s 1/2 the cost. Crazy. Pretty car tho.

I am looking to buy the new Macan EV and hope that the software is fixed because I am used to Tesla and all else aside they set the bar for responsiveness, usability, etc. for software, especially because I will be giving up my Model Y for the Macan and I am not looking to go backwards in that area (fingers crossed).

    Very thorough and realistic review. This is my dream car (for a daily driver). I could probably just about afford a RWD version with a few options. But it’s so easy to go into the configurator and think “I’m already spending this much so I might as well get what I want”. With that mindset I quickly get myself to a 120k cross turismo. Current wait time is over a year which is probably a good thing for my wallet.

    • @muribe85
      @muribe85 Před rokem +2

      The configurator hits hard. I bought the 4S, starting in Norway at aroung 90K USD. End price was 145K, as the configurator was kind enough to help me pick the right options for me (right?). I'm selling the car now as my family just went +1 and the car is now too small. I think I will lose a lot of money as I went for "all" the options. We'll see. : )

    So it WAS a Taycan I saw on the road. Noticed a very specific sound when I heard a car taking a left turn out of a parking lot and sped away. Very cool sound, reallly 80's style futuristic. For the rest it looks like a Porsche.

    Good review. Appreciate the honesty. For the money Porsche should be providing a better product with better UI and over the air updates.

    This is a beautiful car! I am in love with the Cherry Metallic Red color. However, I would only want an AWD car after owning my LR Tesla M3. I live in a part of Az that gets snow to the North. This video made me realize how much car you get for your money with Tesla. I guess I would rather a Model S plaid. The Porsche is beautiful to look at though.

    Good review. I agree with many points. The big software update did a lot of good things. I've had my 4 S for three years. I was concerned the RWD might be missing some of the secret sauce. Also in 2020 the car was still eligible for the EV tax credit which pushed me to buy in 2020. Miss the Plug & Charge feature but it can be retrofitted. Like Jen I have solar at home which makes it pretty painless and cheap. We are due for a true OTA update shortly but after a message from Porsche I haven't heard anything.

      Do use your car regularly? I've seen many for sale, less than 3 years old with very low mileage and I'm curious about why. I'm trying to find out as much as I can before possibly getting one myself. thanks.

      @@ravz1983 yes I use my car every day. Charging at home is very easy in my case. I am less impressed with EA charging. The 2020 cars didn’t have plug and charge capability which lets the car talk directly to the charging station without need for the cellphone app. I am in the process of having that capability retrofitted to my car. 2021 and later should have that capability.

      Thanks. That’s good to know, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. I’ll be able to charge at home as well but need to upgrade to a proper EV charger for faster speeds. If you think of anything else I might need to look out for please do let me know. Thank you.

      @@ravz1983 it is useful to have the 150KW Charger option if you can find a car with it. This will allow charging at the Tesla super chargers when they open up their network to non-Tesla cars.
      I like surround view, rear axle steering, adaptive cruise control, folding mirrors and base audio system (more trunk height). I also stayed with stock 19” wheels to better handle pot holes.

      Also you ought to look for 14 way seats.
      I have base interior the parts you sit on are leather. My car is a daily driver with a dog. So I didn’t want the leather seat backs

    I love my electric sport sound on it. One, it is like I am in the the Enterprise and listening to the warp nacelles. Two, it turns heads in the city making pedestrians aware the car is there.

    I have a 4S in black pretty high spec here in the Bay Area and absolutely love it. There’s a few things I would improve but overall it’s a beast. I hate the options game with Porsche but they’ve always been that way. Taycan is not a “value” car… look at model S for that.

    • @InSaN3ViSioN

      New Model S long range is way better value than the 4S but I think the 4S drives a little better.

      Model S isn’t really ‘value’ anymore. 6 figure starting now… and just 1-2 years ago they were 70K starting.

      @@ayushmalpeddi2793 I meant compared to Lucid and Taycan top trims. In fact when you look at Plaid, the overall package and performance, it’s a pretty compelling value. Not a perfect car, but a really good one. I ultimately chose the 4S because: 1) it’s a Porsche, 2) it handles/drives incredibly 3) I prefer the overall quality. Taycan is a great car… but in the $150k range there’s a lot of options to choose from. Mine stickered for $140k but it’s basically the perfect car FOR ME.

      @ayushmalpeddi2793 Před rokem +1

      @@TheZakk28 True. At the current Model S prices, it comes down more to preference, since value of Teslas is now lost. Model S tops around 150K while Porsche and Lucid can top 175K, which makes the Tesla kind of a value player lol
