    Ahhh the quick and dirty. Now I can mark both our rings without paying a jeweler. I'll try making a jig similar to a Scrabble letter holder to hold a basic band. I'll try it on flea market SS rings first of course.

  • @3DCA
    @3DCA Před 3 lety +1

    Hi Alex, instead of deleting / Cutting then pasting the engraving parts you could check "(S)Mark Select" and let everything visible. But it seems that this is your workflow. Very nice job!!!
    Might I know yout Wobble Parameters: Diamateter = ? mm & Distance = ? mm
    Because I'm experimenting with it. Are you previewing the Wobble in EZCAD bevore engraving then it seems that if your text is too small the Wobble Diameter will take too much space in relation to it's main dimensions.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes people recommend this to me regularly but I don't trust myself to use mark selected and I'm a bit OCD so if I have everything sitting on the page I will be wondering over and over if I've selected something I shouldn't. It ends up being much easier for me to visually just glance at the page and see exactly what I want marked and nothing else.
      Wobble is primarily only for cutting. I don't typically recommend it for engraving so everything you've seen engraving-wise my wobble has been completely disabled.

    • @3DCA
      @3DCA Před 3 lety +1

      @@LaserEverything As I said it's your workflow and it has to flow as possible to please do it like you're feeling that it's flowing... Excuse my unprecise english expressions.
      Concerning the wobble size if you have a small Text to engrave so that the standard wobble size is to big compared to the text size you'll need to adjust the wobble diameter and their distance to avoid going to far fron the engraving path. In other words the vertical distance from the engraving path to the farest point is critical when 2 lines are to close to each other. I will send you some screenshots to that. Thanks for your efforts.

    Hello there! I find your videos very educational. I just want to ask you this, How do you price the work/jobs that you make?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 2 lety +1

      That's a really complicated topic to get into on CZcams comments but basically every time I have to touch and move a piece to get all the engravings done I charge 25 bucks. Obviously it's going to be more or less than that depending on the runtime and graphics that I need to do and packing and unpacking that needs to be done but that's kind of a baseline rule of thumb for you.
      If you want to chat more about it you can join us on our Discord server (link in the description) or check us out on the Laser Master academy which you can find here: masters.lasereverything.net

    Do you think there would be any benefit to putting the ring higher on the "Y" axis? I know if the red light clears the higher side of the ring, but seeing how the laser has a kind of bevel from the center resembling, "/ | \". Would it add another layer of safety and clearance? I know its a meh question but I'm just curious what you think. I do know putting it at the same angle lower on the "Y" axis would affect it.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I hadn't given that a ton of thought. Could make for better clearance but also more difficult focus.

      @@LaserEverything Hey Alex. The parameters on the Patreon page....are these set up for a 30w machine? If so, can I just use the calculator you talked about in another video to convert them? And the only one that needs converted is the Power. Correct?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 3 lety

      The Patreon post that has the parameters in it actually has an Excel file and at the top of the Excel file you can type in your wattage and lens and it will convert the power in the converted column of the spreadsheet to your current setup. It's very easy to use so definitely don't miss it!
