What that was him? I thought that was just his stand in his actor cause he was still under the sea.
Calling it “Shrek Forever After” instead of Shrek 4 is ingenious, because it leaving the number out of the title means that we can all just imagine that it’s the third entry.

Another thing worth mentioning is that making Shrek so small in comparison to the other ogres feels like a sort of rebuttal to the most problematic part of the first movie when Shrek mocked Farquaad for his height, literally bringing Shrek down to his level in a sense, while, if memory serves at least, also not mocking him in the same way. The movie could've easily still sold the idea that Shrek feels like a fish out of water around other ogres through his expressions alone, but there's something kind of humbling about having those tables turned on him so thoroughly in a movie that parallels the first so much.
They kinda fixed shreks size in the Christmas spectacular special, shrek is around their size but slightly smaller, it kinda bothered me how small he was, but the creators probably know shrek is supposed to be intimidating so they fixed it.
Why is making fun of someones height problematic? Lmfao snowflakes be mad about everything these days
You used problematic unironically. I bet you're a midget.
Eh, Farquad was a fuckwad who was compensating for his height not matching his ego so I don't see it as that problematic tbh.
Nobody hated him for being short, they hated him for being a narcissistic dick who just happened to be both short and in denial of it.
Even he couldn't live up to his "perfect" standards and yet he still tried forcing them on everyone, like most abusive asshats.
Particularly the bigoted ones.
Kinda like how anti-choice Republicans get mocked for having pregnant mistresses or how homophobic priests and pastors get mocked for indulging in gay porn.
It's towards the whole scenario not necessarily that one aspect.
I do like the parallels to their feelings of insecurity and how they both compensated by being pushy dicks, just I don't think mocking an insecure and abusive bigoted asshole for not meeting his own high standards of "perfection" is "problematic".
I thought it was really wholesome that despite being smaller than them, the other ogres didn't mock Shrek for being smaller, seeing him as an equal.
I had no idea Shrek IV was hated in the anglosphere, here in Latin America is often regarded as a great conclusion to the franchise and very loved, and even memed.
Maybe it's because of the brilliant dub we were given.

@@mambaramba 🤦🤔 I feel dumb for not realizing that lol thank you for enlightening me on it 😂
I feel like a lot of people miss how the ending of the movie retools the moment that made Shrek snap.
At the party at the beginning of the movie, Shrek’s roar is him venting out his frustration. But when everyone starts applauding and cheering for him, it only makes him angrier and he smashes the cake.
When he returns to the party after the alternate reality collapses, the cheering and applause is almost congratulating him on returning home, with everyone cheering his name.
Then the party carries on as normal, as Donkey asks Shrek to give his kids an encore before shouting “That’s my best friend!”, almost as if Donkey is giddy that Shrek made it back safely after fading away.
It’s a really clever piece of writing that makes the ending all the more emotional to me.
Great take !

My girlfriend has chosen a nickname, out of nowhere, for my penis. She has chosen, for some god forsaken reason, to call it 'princess little piddles'. I have no idea where she got this name but it's not the most manly nickname, and honestly, I don't even have a nickname for it so why should she?? Every time she calls it by her nickname, I feel ashamed!
Am I the asshole for making her stop calling it that? Or should I just let her keep it up? I'm afraid this waking nightmare may never end.
UPDATE: I spoke with my girlfriend regarding this nickname fiasco. She informed me that it was not the princess that was little, it was the piddles that were little. That didn't make me feel much better tho.
I offered another nickname, per another user, "princess big and long piddles" but she said that was a mouthful. We compromised on allowing me to pick a nickname for her penis. Thanks everyone.

Shrek 3 is ogre rated
Shrek the Third is orge-used
Shrek ain't no average ogre son
People say nasty things they don’t mean when they’re frustrated let’s be real and it takes awhile for them to fully come to terms with their mistakes. It’s pretty common for people to not immediately regret something mean they said or did cause they’re overtaken by anger and they’re convinced it was justified. That is so accurate I’m pretty sure we’ve all had those moments.
One thing I definitely love about Rumpelstiltskin is that he didn’t just win, he won fair and square, no lying, no fighting, no unfair advantages
And if anyone wants to argue that point, he shows people the contracts they signed, including the oh so important part of the contract, the one we are always told to read before signing any contract, and yet another life lesson this movie gives to us
If the heroes wanted to beat Rumpel without any conflict, all they’d ever have to do is one simple thing
READ THE FINE PRINT!!!
What’s really good about your last point is that’s precisely how Shrek wins at the end of the movie.
It’s almost like a KFP1 Shifu sends the bird to Tai Lung’s prison situation, where if Rumpel didn’t put out the bounty, Shrek would’ve lost because true love didn’t work.
It was Shrek who immediately recognised the opportunity with his own bounty which allowed the other ogre prisoners to be free.
Don't know man. He intentionally misled the king and Queen and later Shrek.
Also, wasn't the deal to.lift Fiona's curse? But she's still half ogre in the alternate universe
The fact that James isn’t afraid or embarrassed to sing Hadestown around his college campus while holding a copy of Shrek 4 is truly inspiring

The piper’s visual continuity could easily be explained by remembering it’s an alternate reality where he most definitely could look different. New clothes and different food intake ext. Everything’s different there.
I can relate to Shrek's struggles since I became an adult recently and have a bunch of new responsibilities such as college, a full time job that is very stressful and overwhelming, trying to be a big brother figure to 2 people, and struggling with mental health. So yeah it's been an extremely difficult adjustment, even to this day, and it's part of why I love this movie so much

I only watched this movie once when I was 10 years old and it was in theatres. I remember not liking it because I hated Rumplestiltskin's design and character, I didn't like the concept of the alternate universe here, and I just felt like the movie was too boring for me. So it was pretty forgettable, and I never watched it again.
Now, I'm 23 years old. And after randomly checking out the Shrek franchise again, I finally grew to appreciate the *layers* of emotional storytelling this movie went through. The realistic crisis that Shrek was going through hit home for me. Understanding what isolation did to Fiona made me sympathize with her. Rumplestiltskin's motive and actions made me see how evil he really is.
Shrek's tears when he realized he had given up his family forever, his desperately trying to convince a jaded Fiona to love him, their finally loving each other, and Shrek telling Fiona that she saved him that day in the tower all made me cry.
Really, all I needed to love this movie was to grow up. It is definitely a severely underrated movie, and I hope kids like me grow up to understand this movie as it was meant to be understood. A guy who worked on this movie gave us a talk in collage (he was the brother of a professor there), he told us that: Shrek 1 is person falls in love, 2 is reinforcing the love, 3 is whatever, 4 is a man facing a midlife crisis and ruining his life but because movie logic, he can turn it back
He also talked trash about the Bee Movie, and how low key noone wanted to work in that movie and how him being spanish, Tulio in El Dorado was phisically based on him and Miguel was inspired in a co-worker
@@zycovleech6163 He sounds like a colorful person
I thought the third one wad about a person worried about having kids
I love this guy

Shrek 2: The perfect sequel
Shrek 3: The perfect fuck-up
Shrek 4: The perfect ending
That makes the first Shrek the perfect movie. The numbers don't lie.
amen
😂
Now that I think about it, Shrek 4 is literally endgame.

I'm so happy there are other people that love this movie as much as I do. 2 and 4 are the strongest in the franchise for sure.
We are entitled to our own opinions and in my opinion, the strongest shrek movies are the first two movies .
@@bqw2094That's fine, if those are your favorites, then those are your favorites. At least we can all agree 3 was the weakest haha
no way my guy. Shrek 4 was an amazing way to close the series. I think it might be fun to have a Shrek 5 where the babies are grown up, and we can see everyone again, but at the same time, the series doesn't really need that either. Literally, I get brought to tears with Shrek 1, 3 and 4. (I cry for different reasons during 3... *shudders*) Shrek is a fantastic franchise and you are definitely not alone!
I think Shrek 5 could tell the story of discovering of finding the ogres that were in Forever After to how they're doing in the present restored timeline.
Plus since Forever After was about an endearing struggle for freedom of ogrekind, perhaps it could Shrek and Fiona to seek out more ogres so they can live more freely and be a part of building a better world with them. And a potential conflict for this plot point is that certain ogres would just prefer to be left alone, etc.
Heck, Shrek's parents and Donkey's origins could also be supporting plot points too.😊
@@memecliparchives2254 I agree
“Shrek does not cry, probably due to toxic ogre masculinity” well now I need to know more about ogre social problems

Where’s Shrek: Hassle in the Castle on Game Boy Advance?
Honestly Shrek 4 is a true masterpiece. It’s one of those movies that I actually cry on every time I watch. Really that ending I can’t watch without tearing up.
I actually find Forever After the most memorable and heart-felt. The stake is high and the feelings are heavy
Theory about what happened with Farquaad: He kept sending knights to get Fiona and they all kept getting eaten by the dragon, so eventually he just gave up and "rescued" another princess

This movie is so well written i cry everytime on the ending. I dont care if its not as funny as the first two, i like me some serious stuff
It wasn’t until I rewatched the true trilogy of shrek that I realized they have some sick fight scenes. Shrek and fiona being chained together but kept away from each other then fighting dragon and using the chains to their advantage absolutely slapped

As much as it's memed, the Shrek franchise has one of the best stories out there
i feel like the reason people dislike forever after is not just because shrek the third ruined the reputation of the franchise, but also because they simply don't understand shrek properly. they think it's all jokes or that the humor is the only thing worth watching it for, not understanding that one of the greatest strengths of shrek is telling its message of love (but media literacy is dead anways). forever after's lack of humor, pop music, etc is on purpose because it takes place in a world without shrek. it uses these elements effectively to focus on the story's emotional strengths and to give us a darker shrek movie.
do the roar is still funny though you're right

I remember i got surprised that people unironically think the 4th movie is bad, i remember actually crying during the last scene, it's an instant classic that is on par with Ratatouille and Giant of Steel as emotional gems
I can't believe that this film was actually not well-received, I always thought this was one of the better films in the trilogy. I remember rewatching it a lot because of how amazing it felt watching it.

Yes yes yes oh my god.
This is why I love analysis videos. While I still don’t love this movie and only think it’s ok, it’s so interesting and powerful to see how it means to someone else. It’s amazing how all media can mean something to someone, even if not everyone gets it.
I watched Shrek 4 in theaters with my 2nd grade class. It was the first time I ever went to the movies, I alao had a little paperboard Puss figurine with a mcdonalds meal around the same time, so this m1ovie will always have a special place in my heart. Everyone always says that third and this one were cashgrabs, and I totally agreed with the third being one, but it always bothered me a little when they said it about this one. I love the detail that king Harold tries his hardest to convince Queen Lilian not to go through with the deal with Rumple because of his own deal with The Fairy Godmother.

I love the detail that Shrek is convinced that they wouldn't sign their kingdom to Rumple. It's a nice way to show how far Shrek has come.
