As a salesman, I have been taught that only a third of the reason people buy something is price and product.
It's much more about how the store is presented, and how the salesperson looks and acts.
So this does not surprise me at all.
People walking by the seemingly homeless man will be thinking he's selling knock off products, when they look at the price and table.
While the woman looks like she's selling an authentic product.

I think it is because the guy was just standing there with his hands in his pockets looking around and sometimes standing a few feet away from the table while the girl was smiling at everyone who walked by, standing up nice and straight and talking to anyone who got near her.
That's part of marketing. The same reason there's pretty smiling women in your toothpaste commercials.

The biggest shock is that you thought this could've went any other way.
This is not marketing. This is image. The women is friendly, smiling, inviting, and approachable. The guy stands firm, unapproachable, and almost looks like he doesn't want to be there. There's a difference.
Okay first of all. There's a difference between being homeless and being a bad salesman. He didn't approach anyone or even say hello, people prolly thought he was just standing next to the stand. Also the product in its self is shit! Its a qr code attached to a cheap ass bracelet. The whole function of this item is to spy on your significant other! I wouldn't by this if I was suspicious of my partner, I'd fucking leave! Third, in my experiences everyone someone on the street gave me something for "free" and I didn't give them a "donation" they took it back!

When I was in high school we went with our class on a trip to Milano, where some people offered bracelets "for free". They were always saying ( like the guy in the video) "gratis! gratis!". One of my classmate took one and suddenly the guy said "5 euro. 5 euro." When my classmate refused to pay, the guy with the bracelets said something in italian and suddenly three big guys came to my classmate, threw him on the ground, picked his wallet and took all the money he had and then they ran away. When we contacted the police, they said it's normal, that they can't do anything against it and that it's our own fault for falling for their tricks.
So, no thanks.

When I was in Venice this one guy gave us a "free" bracelet and after we took it he wanted something in return, so I am not surprised with the reaction. The problem isn't the people it is the culture.
