  • A video tutorial on how to program a smart key remote fob to a 2015 - 2020 Chevrolet Suburban.
    If you already have at least two working remote key fobs for your GMC Yukon there is a shorter programming procedure than the one shown in the video that you can use. You can find those programming instructions here www.programyourremote.com/cla...
    *This will only apply to Chevy Suburban's that have a push button start ignition.
    1. Using the driver's door, turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds.The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
    2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
    3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining remote key fobs can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
    4. Place the new smart key fob in the transmitter pocket in the Chevy Suburban center console .
    5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key fob.
    6. Remove the smart key remote fob from the Suburban's transmitter pocket and press unlock or lock on the transmitter.
    To program additional smart key remote fobs, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
    This how-to video tutorial will show you how to program a smart key remote fob to following Chevrolet Suburban models:
    2017 Chevy Chevrolet Suburban (LS, LT and LTZ)
    2018 Chevy Chevrolet Suburban (LS, LT and LTZ)
    2019 Chevy Chevrolet Suburban (LS, LT and LTZ)
    2020 Chevy Chevrolet Suburban (LS, LT and LTZ)

    We lost one of the two key remotes (fobs) for our 2018 Tahoe and the Chevy dealership wanted around $450 to replace and reprogram and also stated, non-OEM remotes would not work. Went ahead and purchased a non-OEM remote and was afraid it would not work however, it did work. This video was well presented with perfect step-by-step instructions. Very grateful to PYR Automotive!

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  Před 2 lety

      This procedure erases all previous fobs and any that you still want to work for the vehicle will need to be re-programmed during the procedure. These fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed and need to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before they can be programmed again to a different vehicle.

      not sure - the vehicle and or/fob should not function that way. You may need to have a professional take a look at it.

    @nicholassoares1676 Před 2 lety

    I tried this a couple times for my 2018 Suburban Premier while keeping the original "Driver 1" remote (which works but is physically damaged) on my person. I left the "Driver 2" remote and brand new 3rd remote (which is meant to replace the damaged "Driver 1" remote) outside and away from the vehicle. The tech at the Chevrolet dealership where I bought the new (way overpriced) remote to replace the "Driver 1" remote programmed the new remote as "Driver 3." I learned this the day after the new remote was programmed.
    So I actually have 3 remotes that work, but I want the current "Driver 3" remote to be the "Driver 1" remote and vice versa. Should this procedure enable me to reprogram the remotes and have them labeled/synchronized as intended (new remote to be Driver 1, original Driver 2 remote to stay Driver 2, Current damaged Driver 1 remote to be Driver 3)?
    Lastly, any suggestions on how to turn off the passive security/panic alarm system? It keeps interrupting the process (I think), and forcing me to press the unlock button on the remote I have on me because when I open the vehicle to press the "Engine Start/Stop" button and reset the timer the alarm activates (horn blasting and lights flashing).
    I hope I wasn't confusing with my scenario and questions. Sorry so lengthy. Any insightful feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.
    My

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  Před 2 lety +3

      Start with all the working fobs far enough away from the vehicle so they cannot be read, then go though the procedure. After entering programing mode, It should start at Driver 1. All 3 remotes will need to be reprogrammed and the order in which you program then in will determine the Driver number. The only suggestion I can make on the security system is to make sure you press unlock on one of the working remotes before begging the procedure.

    • @jankasony
      @jankasony Před rokem +1

      Be sure to use the working remote to unlock the vehicle before turning the physical key counterclockwise 5 times. Also, once I opened the vehicle door, I kept it open for the entire reprogramming process

When I try to start the truck it’s like it doesn’t recognize the key fob. I have to hold start button, open and close my door hold start button again then it will start. Any suggestions on how to reset the theft deterrent? Why does it keep telling me to insert second key?

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  Před rokem +1

      It sounds like maybe you didn’t reprogram the original remote during the procedure to get to the 2 remotes total, as described in beginning of the video. When it says ready for remote 2 place your original remote in the transmitter pocket and press the stop/start butto

      You can buy them off the internet but I would recommend buying an OEM key. Also, if you get a used key make sure the listing specifically says the key is unlocked or programmable. These fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed and need to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before they can be used again.
