    2 benefits:
No more tickets while doing 126-130km/hr
License won’t be suspended until you hit 160km/hr.
Which is more reasonable. Many of us have hit 150 on a wide open road accidentally -not what I would consider a reason for a 30 day suspension.
A hefty ticket is all now.
    +160? Ya…hand over the license

      @@ansen7738 oh, didn’t see that.
So 40k over for anything under 80km/hr posted speed
      50k over 80-100km/hr
40km over in 110km posted speed.

Fun facts: Here in Germany over two thirds of the highway network has no speed limit, at all. The average speed in the left lane is 150 mph.
However, compared to the 4.5 fatalities per billion km travelled on the US interstate, the autobahn has just 2.7 fatalities for the same distance.
The roads need to be/are in perfect condition and drivers have to take more lessons from professional instructors.
Also, less than 10% of fatal road collisions in Germany take place on the highways ("Autobahn"I, with the majority happening on country and inner cities roads...
    Greetings from Germany

Once you get past Oshawa going east on the 401 the unofficial speed ramge is between 110 and 130 km .
It just is , everyone who drives it knows this including the OPP . They will pull you over when they are on an enforcement blitz or you are doing dangerous lane changes . Otherwise they are doing the same speed .
    Its game we all play

Anyone that doesn't like it, must hate going to New York State where the speed limit is 65mph or 105KMH. Now it's 110KMH (68MPH) instead of 100KMH (62MPH). The speed limit in the 70s was 70MPH (113KMH)

A speed limit buff on Ontario's highways from 100 to 110? How surprising! If that will affect on 36% of those highways, it would be best some rural areas will have a speed limit buff. As for urban areas, they must remain 100 or less.

    • @wainber1
      @wainber1 Před 22 dny

I have been so used to driving at 100 km/h or less throughout my life because I’ve only ever driven on roads in Ontario and Southwestern Quebec. It hasn’t been easy to keep a speedometer at 100 or less but has been doable.
It’d be nice to believe that increasing freeway speed limits in urban areas to above 100 would work wonders but traffic has often, during daylight hours, been so bad on the 401 that getting up to 90 can be a struggle at times.

People drive higher than the speed limits anyway. And to be honest, Europe's speed limits are 140-ish on the highways. It's all about driving safely and responsibly of course, more than it is about speed.

What's with only partial sections getting the higher speed limit? Put the speed limit up on all 400 highways, period. 110kph is still too low, but it's a step in the right direction. Canada is the second largest landmass and we should have speed limits in proportion to the the distances we need to travel.

The only places giving out plastic bags are small businesses with existing inventory. And only places giving out paper bags are clothing retailers using the bag as free marketing.😂😂
