Hi , guys it’s not the oficial chanel of Hilary Hahn , we are just sharing the vídeos, you can send mensseges to her and the other artists in their Instagram accounts. Thanks Hilarys account : @violincase
Practicing isn’t playing. Actually practice shouldn’t sound “great” or “beautiful”. If it does you’re not practicing you’re just playing. Love this video!! She’s just fantastic! 😍😍😍👏👏👏
Pretty much everything Ms. Hahn does sounds amazing. This was a great example of the old aphorism “An amateur practices until they can play the passage correctly. A professional practices until they can’t play it wrong.” Thank you for sharing this. It’s very inspirational.
An artist of Hilary's stature is under no obligation to share more of herself the way she does. There is something else there. There is honesty and even humility in her playing. Here is both a great artist and a great human being.

I believe it´s impossible to be a great artist -or a great anything, for that matter- without being a great human being.
yes, top notch artists showing themselves practicing is like dogs showing you their bellies, it's showing their vulnerable side with a sense of trust, they don't have to, but when they do, it's an act of generosity and equality.
@ oh it is. Actually there are 2 kinds of people: the ones who become better human beings the more they improve in their fields and the ones who become worse and worse, more full of themselves, arrogant, egoistic, etc.
Hilary Hahn has some of the cleanest playing. Her technique is brilliant. Even during practice, you can hear her sustaining one line of melody without hesitation or pausing. This is incredibly instructive to watch, even for a non-violinist.
So interesting to watch a virtuoso like Hahn going over passages to get them just right. No one is a great artist without putting in the time and the tedious effort it takes. Thanks for this.
AMAZING CONCENTRATION! WORKSHOP FOR INTERPRETATION! HERE IDEAS ARE BORN! HILARY CATCH AND GIVES THEM IN THE PERFORMANCE! HILARY IS ALWAYS WORKING! VERY HARD WORKING! BRAVO AND BOW FOR HILARY!
And passion for that matter. I see people astounded that she memorizes a 30 minute long concerto, but take into account that she's played it hundreds if not thousands of times and it's understandable.
@@williamzhu9160 I'm not super into tchaikovsky even though I recognize him as one of the greatest composers of all time. Also, I don't play violin, so I'm usually not inclined to listen to violin concertos
@@idkk4953 well the reason that i bring that up is that if you decided to click on a video about hilary hahn practicing, you probably at least know enough about classical music to recognize its main theme

Many, Many thanks to Hillary Hahn for this gift to me and i assume to many others as well. An amazing idea and amazing natural, humbleness of her to do so. It is much appreciated indeed.
That is true. I teach young kids and I'm often at a loss of words as to how they want to do certain difficult things immediately but can't be bothered to practice more than half an hour a day.
Fantastic! This is so inspiring to an adult 2nd year student. Of course, she is on another planet, but what beautiful awe-inspiring patience! Thank you, Hillary.
it's fascinating. but it's only snapshots of practice. and snapshots of rehearsal. real practice goes on for literally hours at a time, repeated many days in a row. it would lead the average CZcams viewer to complain of boredom and repetitiveness.
Oh my word. Artistic interpretation and skill needed to perform or even practice at this level is to be admired,. Hilary Han you are in my view a beautiful violinist. I bow to your expertise, and adore your musical performance.
That's what makes her special.... Don't ever think that it's about what age you start... Or what teacher you have... Or what school... Or you think you have to be touched by God to become a great musician... It's about how much you practice... How much you study... How much you love your instrument and music.... Go be great
Fasciné, subjugué par son jeu!! (je suis moi même violoniste) C'est extraordinaire, il n'y a pas d'autre mot, il y a un côté magique, hors du commun! Merci Madame, Merci Maître!!!
I remember during my first lessons when my teacher would stop me to show how to play the passage I just played and he would sound like he was in the middle of a performance, every time, and that was while sitting in his living room...
I wish there was a 2017 or 2018 full recording of her Tchaikovsky vc, I bought her « old » recording but it’s kind of flat. These excerpts show a much more romantic approach that seems beautiful
I agree, Jean de la Croix, but I also think that the flatness of that recording has less to do with HH's playing and more to do with the sound engineer at the mixing desk, the acoustics of the room, the positioning of the microphones, the digital "sound", which tends to sound a bit flat anyway, etc. What I'm trying to say is this: there are so many variables to be taken into consideration when issuing the "perfect" recording that makes it extremely difficult to achieve. Not wanting to be nitpicking here but I would love to see Hilary Hahn's recordings being issued on vinyl, preferably for Decca or Teldec. I mean no disrespect to the Deutch Grammophon but having a vast number of classic recordings on vinyl from the late 1960s, '70s, and '80s on both Decca and DG (as well as several others from other well-established recording companies) I can tell the difference. Of course, much of this can be a bit subjective and amounts to personal preferences. And no matter the practical aspects to digital including the commercial ones, (and internet availability) nothing beats the sound of a well-recorded, well pressed vinyl through a good pickup (sound cartridge, as it is known today) going through a good record player and sound equipment, IMHO.
Wow. How neat. Incredible to see her struggle through a series of difficult passages, just as I do on guitar. Music takes a lot of work to be that good. I always said that Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan must have strapped on a guitar as soon as they got out of bed, and only put it down when their lights went out. Hilary is my hero.
I take comfort in this. I’m 34 and about to start violin. Not planning on being full blown concert first chair or anything, but every single violinist was horrible at one point, yeah? Practice and patience 👍
I highly doubt she was ever horrible... she’s incredibly naturally gifted. I’m sure she practices a lot and worked very hard, but she debuted at like 11.
@@abigail607 no matter how good someone is, I'm positive she screeched and couldn't make a proper note for a few months. So it came easily to her? Great. That doesn't mean the first time she put a violin in her hands, she was playing full-blown pieces.
Ribbin E. I wasn’t attacking you, although you appear eager to interpret my comment that way. I meant that she learned incredibly quickly (far quicker than the norm) and surpassed others her age by far. It had nothing to do with you or your presumed abilities. I was not attacking you, nor making a judgement against you. Learning the violin is difficult, and it was simply easier for her than for the vast majority of people. I’m not sure why that pissed you off so much.
Sometime, it takes a while to get a feel for a new or long-ago-learned melody ... doesn't matter what kind of music it is, and if it is complicated, then it takes longer. And most of what she plays IS complicated.
