Hi , guys it’s not the oficial chanel of Hilary Hahn , we are just sharing the vídeos, you can send mensseges to her and the other artists in their Instagram accounts. Thanks Hilarys account : @violincase
0:00 is the 1st movement of the Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No. 4 in D minor, 0:35 is the Preludio from Bach's Partita No. 3 in E major, both 1:44 and 3:38 are the 3rd movement of the Dvořák Violin Concerto in A minor, and 4:24 is Bernstein's Serenade after Plato's Symphonium (I can't remember which movement). That's not all of the pieces played by her in this video, but it's the majority ^_^"
I just saw Hilary play the Dvorák violin concerto 2 nights ago and it was incredible! She had a meet and greet and she was sooooo kind! She engaged in our conversation and signed my cd’s and my copy of Bach’s sonatas and partitas. It was so incredible to meet my idol!
Amazing human being, so honest in her playing, so dedicated and respectful towards the music and herself. When somebody tells my daughter she should make faces to impress her audience I tell her: well look at Hilary Hahn, she doesn't make these terrible grimaces, she doesn't need to. Her music speaks for her with so many colours and million emotions. We listen to music with our ears not with our eyes. Musicians should have respect for music, the rest is just boring freak-show.
How many of the other great modern virtuosos are kind, brave and modest enough to share the human side of their practice and work like this..... wow ...
Hilary - was in the supermarket today, walking by the wine shelf and a name jumped out at me - Hahn (wine). There is a Hahn Winery in Soledad, California. The winery is 40 years old. Bought two bottles and it is really decent wine. Will give it as a present next Christmas. It's nice to have the name Hahn pop out at you. Al
What a great tone she has! Thank you for let us have a look "inside". For me as a musician myself it's particular fascinating to see her doing her exercises.
Hillary's concerts become such intimate kind of music at the end when she meets, greets answers questions and takes pictures...the whole package...makes you feel compensated and part of the music experience....love to see this videos of her practicing as well. ..
Practicing is so intimet, I hate when people watch me practice. I can't concentrate and really do my practice when someone's watching. I find it so cool to see her practice, It's so special to me.
Years and years of practise to reach this level of mastery of this very difficult instrument to play professionally ! In concert she brings tears to my eyes ! Especially of Beethoven's violin concerto. I would place her equal to Itzhak Perlman as a musical artist
hearing hilary studying the dvorak violin concerto it brings me back a interview of sarah chang when she played the same concerto with the LSO and she said
These are fragments, not pieces, and are used for the purpose of practicing for a stonger performance. It is very interesting to see how much work goes into one fragment until the player reaches the correct sound.
Hillary is a great violinist, but I've always noticed the transitions in her bow changes are very noticeable, as though she was using a lot of bow pressure. Do you think this is intentional?
memorisation. so much practicing turns into muscle memory means one feels comfortable experimenting. It's scarier to experiment before you know the piece.
Just close your eyes and listen. This is a different setting than a concert hall, so you aren’t going to hear an extensive dynamic range or modulation like you would in an open expanse. Hilary is a modern marvel at what she does, and her face doesn’t always have to show it. Again, close your eyes and LISTEN. I know that you don’t need to be a musician to criticize someone’s work, but step outside of that zone and try to see it differently. She’s clearly done something right to get as far as she’s gotten over the years. Few can touch her.
Boy...you just posted the stupidest comment on all of CZcams. This woman is an absolute musical genius. Listen to some of her recordings and then I might suggest you do a delete.
the 'critics' always think they 'understand' things, they know nothing about, nor have any idea what it is to try various concepts and experimental approaches... Hilary is extremely accomplished and talented..."IF" the critic took the time to listen to her many concerts and not just a shaggy experimental tour around the dorm. :)
Does someone know the nam of the pieces she plays, there are a lot I don't know
I know them all! Just tell me the time stamps of the pieces you want to know the names of, then I’ll reply with the name!
Oh yes I wasn't expecting an answer ! ^^
so...
0:00 ; 1:10 ; 2:20 (is it Meyer vc ???) ; 2:40 ; 3:38
Well I only know 2 pieces out of 7 haha...
So the first one is the Vieuxtemps vc no. 4 and the rest of them are from the dvorak vc in a minor.

Oh I see thank you very much ! I must listen to Dvorak vc :)
I wonder how she handles being interrupted by "Mommy! Mommy! Nadia's doing it again!" for the fifth time this hour.

I enjoy watching insanely talented people like Hilary Hahn practice for the simple reason that it sort of "humanizes" them.
More than talented, I'd say skilled
@@lamasan.220 through practice
she's so cute, reminds me of a child. her enthusiasm, innocence. i think musical genius keeps you young if it doesn't go to your head.
You are clearly not a musician or a composer.
And why is that?
Thank you Miss Hahn for allowing such an intimate view of your work. This is useful for my personal practice. Most great artists hide this side.

I would place her equal to
Itzhak Perlman as a musical artist
Peter Shaw in my opinion she’s higher. Itzhak Perlman is amazing but I like the style of Hilary Hahn better
I am so glad that this video is here to show the amount of hard work that goes into being such a virtuoso....Ms. Hahn is an inspiration...
That is not practicing, it is concertizing.
Wow! 3:37 is such a good bow hold demonstration!
Hilary is a damn god, she is very accurate, precise and nearly 99.9% in tune!
hearing hilary studying the dvorak violin concerto it brings me back a interview of sarah chang when she played the same concerto with the LSO and she said
That's the closest i'd ever get to see her human side.
athulican yeah, I Will post more vídeos like that
Want to see her more up close and personal; type in the You Tube browser: Hilary Hahn tiny desk.
Great comment, agree!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏
*twoset intensifies*
Wouldn't it be great to live next door to Mrs Hahn to hear the daily practice regime? That would be great !!
To bad we can not have an question and answer period with you on CZcams. Thank you for enriching our lives!
She is so fantastic!
Amazing amazing amazing! A lot of love to her
She is so cute. And she plays violin like a goddess. 😍❤️🥰😘 🎼 🎶 🎵 🎻
Well, it's good to know even she can be out of tune when practicing..I still have some hope :p

She eats Paganini caprices for breakfast. 🎼🎶 🎻
The Official Andy Saenz yes but she actually does Bach as a warm up while I’m over here struggling to play the first two seconds of allegro assai
Your comment has 41 likes, means that she switched from practicing 40hrs a day to 41 hrs a day
Linda e virtuosisima!!
역시 노력의 산물...
완벽=perfect... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Melhor violinista do mundo na atualidade?
La Messi du 🎻 🏆💫bravo 👏🏻

Sublime
Y como se llama esa pieza la primera ?
Seeing Hilary Hahn's "Oh for f*ck's sake" face is refreshing
Merci beaucoup
Sebastian Saint-Jean de rien
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!
I feel like a stalker watching these. But my daughter her age says it is okay.

She mentions in her masterclass that she uses bow pressure to dramatize pieces, so maybe it is intentional
3:09
I saw people sitting there focused on knitting... while hilary been playing.
Piece at 2:46 ? Can’t find it on her Instagram
Dvorak violin concerto
Just as I’ve suspected…my practice session sounds completely different from hers.
Ba-tah-dumm ❤
0:45 which piece is she playing ?
And at 4:44?
And in 4:44?
...idk if you still want an answer 😂, but 0:45 is the Dvorak violin concerto!
Luna Lua 4:44 is Bernstein’s Serenade after Plato’s Symposium
God, can i listen to this without paying?
She's never not perfect.
Finaly the only one video that shows her human side 😂
3:00 lol why does it look like Brett's house
Does she just listen to the pieces and then play them from memory? Where are the notes?? Wow!!
memorisation. so much practicing turns into muscle memory means one feels comfortable experimenting. It's scarier to experiment before you know the piece.
Oh my god focusing on every part of a note
Hey Hilary . If u get divorced remember Im always available for u
"practising", not "practicing"!
All notes. No musicality. Not even in practice.
Well then please post a vid and show us how it is supposed to be done.
Yes, by all means stun us with your superb musicianship
