    I grew up in Cary from 1997-2006. I am actually leaving later today to visit to Cary for two days as part of my vacation.

      It’s always surreal to go home!! It’s changed a lot since 2006, especially downtown. I’d love it if you would report back your thoughts!!

    The only thing that dump had was the Cary Towne Mall, now that it no longer exists they are NOTHING! Years ago, I worked there and they were indeed some of the worst customers ever!

    Cary is only good if you work for a company like SAS and have a family. There really isn't a lot here for young single people other than employment. It has a corporate dry sterile feeling wherever you go, there are 4 lane roads everywhere. The downtown is very nice but there are many downto2ns across America that could serve you better. For the pros, crime is very low, and you have nice lakes like Jordan lake 20 minutes away.
    If you're going to move move here, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Apex, or Fuquay-Varina. If you've got a job for example in a company like SAS, I think you could thrive here.

      Well we don’t have clubs if that’s what you’re looking for… actually there is one night club but we don’t really talk about it! 😂 But there is as much for single people to do as anyone else I think it just depends on what you like. If you’re into hiking or biking or the arts or documentary films or breweries, there is plenty to do. I’ve always leaned more this way even before I was married so I guess I don’t really understand what people mean when they say this. Is it just the clubs that you feel are missing or is it something else? I would love to hear your perspective!

      @@EllenPitts Except you don't have the mountains, everything is closed so theres really no point in events, what I'm saying is that today Cary seems to be a great place for tech employment, but then the problem is record breaking inflation in the housing market its wrecking the value that you would otherwise get if you don't work for one of the tech companies, this is after all one of the fastest growing locations in America, which is the opposite of a good thing if youre not making a very large salary. If you own a business in real estate theres no point in buying in this market either.
      Holly Springs, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, if you get a 60k+ career going down here these are far better towns to live in...for now at least, but even these towns are insanely overinflated. I'd say move to Cary once the market cools off in 3 to 5 years, but who knows if there'll even be a cooling down, and then what you'll have is Silicon Valley all over again.
      The mayors brain being wrapped up in blue as well could create a nice environment long term for future homelessness issues, granted the entire market is in a bubble that if it doesn't pop you'll see California or Austin prices.

    I have never heard of Hemlock Bluffs. I'm going to check that out to add to my walking destinations.

      There are definitely other really nice towns in the area that are less expensive!! Truly!! I am positive you can find something you love!!

      There are far better options, and less snotty, mean-spirited people.

    It could use better public transportation. Without a car makes it very hard to get around.

      Not to say it isn't nice, but pretty car dependent. All the Greenway are good for leisure strolls but not so much for commuting around town.

    • @EllenPitts
      @EllenPitts  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah for sure. The whole Raleigh area is pretty car dependent. They did expand the bus system a year or two ago and that helped a bit.

    Cary is a rude, snobby little town, which will always be in Raleigh's shadow.
