    I've had black beans hanging around for a long time. I cannot wait to do this as I've only really used canned black beans in the past. This looks simple and I like the soak overnight idea.

      The soaking isn't just for cook time, it helps get rid or reduce the part that makes people gassy.

      The soaking makes the beans edible

    • @bfvader
      @bfvader Před 3 lety +3

      @@connorleonard4047 The oligosaccharide in beans is what makes people gassy, the higher temperature from pressure cooking stabilizes the protein and makes it easier for people to digest. Pressure cooking allows a higher temperature before the boiling point is reached, which makes cooking faster.

    Have you tried brining the beans overnight? It helps keep the beans whole when they cook.

    • @louisc.gasper7588
      @louisc.gasper7588 Před 3 lety +1

      @@aniyahdilovelilioness747 This is my method:
      Rinse and pick over the dried beans, getting rid of any stones, dirt, or shriveled beans. For each pound of dried beans, make a brine by dissolving two tablespoons of salt (preferably not iodized, that is, kosher or sea salt) in two quarts of water. Put the beans in the brine and let them soak at least overnight, up to 24 hours. Rinse thoroughly before using in your recipe.

    Thank you for this. We had a little mom and pop's restaurant we would go to, but it unfortunately went out of business, and the way they made their black beans was the only time my husband actually liked black beans. Husband asked the cook/owner and he said he cooked them with garlic and onion until the garlic and onion disolved into then beans. Your recipe is just what I was looking for and I've been hoping to try this and maybe expand our dinners.

A bowl with a fine dice of onions and a drizzle of olive oil or some spicy/ vinegar aji sauce from our Columbian counterparts. Really appreciate all the work you put into coming up with and preparing different dishes. Its not easy for me to stay excited about food. ✌💛

    Good video. Wash beans, yes. Soak, yes. 24 to 48 hours (believe it). But throw out soak water?, NO. Too many important nutrients thrown away. How long to vigorously boil? 20 minutes. Then simmer. How long to subsequently simmer? Until softened to your liking.
