What I like about this scene is it's kinda obvious that is Orin. Orin speaks in a manner she thinks a druid would speak, but Halsin's personality is unlike this. He just sounds unnatural.
She does this for everybody else as well
Minthara has a dialogue where she points that Orin can replicate flesh and bone but not the personality. It was an eye opener for me
The most absurd one is Laezhel running in fear in the sewers
@@BioMatic2 Yea that one made me realize immediately that something was up, -the toad- Lae'zel would Never run from a fight, even if it meant death.
It’s especially strange considering this is that same guy who spent almost a century fighting the Shadow Plague, which destroys and corrupts nature.
So for him to just go “This is pointless and we should give up.” is such a red flag.
On my playthrough she took laezel
I immediately new it wasnt her cause laezel would never run up to me and act worried about the other party members
all her ploys are super obvious, tbf.
on mine she took gale and it's obvious it's not him because his orb changes
when you don't find her in the sewers, "lae'zel" take Yenna hostage and ready to kill her for being Orin, it's more hard to identify her in this scenario because it alignes well with what Lae'zel would do lol
@@RemiliaScarlett hahahah classic lae'zel, a patch just came out in which yenna returns to camp after this whole orin business, I'll have to see how it plays out
@@RemiliaScarlettthats what happened to me. i bluffed saying “kill yenna” trusting that laezel wouldn’t do anything unless she was certain/would see it for a bluff. but nope. it wasnt yenna. it was laezel 💀
*Sees Halsin doing something completely out of character*
"Orin, this shit was getting old three days ago. I'm going to bed."
"Nonono, you have to play it right!!!"
This shit was already old and stale the second time. Bitch messed up my Durge's romantic carnival date with Shadowheart. (First time was the journalist.)
I saw an interview with a DM about BG3 and he was like "the dumbest thing about the game is that the villains are in front of the players and they don't just kill him. if you're a DM, don't do that, your players WILL murder them and end the story." lol
She hurted Scratch, she is dead.
Just went through this scene myself. Her death will be slow and agonizing.
@@Gala-yp8nx You know, I don't think you should make it slow and agonizing, for as I understand she is into that.
I butchered the dog so he won't have to suffer
Very satisfying fight.
I killed Scratch myself during my run, Orin is also dead.
Halsin is generally very peaceful and grounded, so there usually isn't much range to his character, but the voice actor did a phenomenal job in this scene. On a completely different note, I seems that new Orin events just seem to keep popping up. I wonder how many there are.
there are a lot. just, utterly insane amounts of orin morphs. I think it really adds to the third act, you are paranoid all the time.
@@ARockyRock I only wish Gortash had the same amount of presence, but he kinda got shafted.
42
@@ARockyRock Easiest way to deal with the paranoia is just charge straight down to Orin and deal with the threat. Her only real challenge is the stacks of unstoppable, but that melts fast with an upcast quickened magic missile.
@@Veloziraptor111i wonder if it was also just that his voice actor was just more expensive so they didn't use him as much. Because his vc is the guy who played lucuis malfoy in hp. Same reason why kethric doesn't have much screen presence bc jk simmons is a big actor and tgey just can't afford to pay them as much
Halsin is a gentle giant, he wouldn’t be acting like that unless maybe someone important to him was killed.
Heck, he acts calmer than that even if you choose to kill the tieflings and destroy the grove and Halsin comes in for revenge.
@@ComedyLoverGirli love it honestly, the little nuances in performance. The actor was acting as Orin acting as Halsin, which is *very* hard to do
He’s True Neutral. if a loved one died he’d say “it is as it’s meant to be.”
Halsin: 3 years in a drow sex dungeon, ahh yes good times.
Halsin 3 days in a city, attacks Tavs dog in uncontrollable rage.
The second half of the video shows that he isn't really Halsin, but some shapeshifting bitch.
It’s Orin, did you even watch the video
@@Weskuhwatching the video before commenting in 2023? nah they read the title, dropped the comment and got distracted 2 minutes in
@@Weskuhor perhaps did you consider they are trying to point out how wildly out of character it would be for him to do that? How obvious it wasn’t him?
Yeah like he says the city is dumb and can't wait to leave but never acts like this
It makes sense she’s hurt scratch. (Although sad)
He’s the only one that can sniff out her illusion and know it was her/an enemy.
yeah but she never does it when turning in others
I am a full believer that Halsin would be able to see nature anywhere, not just the forest.
He would absolutely be more comfortable outdoors of course!
He definitely does! He can mention it I believe, about plants growing in the cracks of cobblestones, life blooming everywhere, etc.
100%! one can never truly smother nature, it will always find a way, and Halsin would see that so easily. I think he would like the city very much because of all the small things he notices. The plants may be small, but they are strong.
I couldn’t agree more!!!
I just had a convo with him about this yesterday.
People are a part of nature, too.
He views the city as a massive group of people trying to make it, but the balance of nature is being disrupted by the corruption of city officials and intolerance of the population to those in need
He compares it to a forest with an overgrown canopy. The massive trees, which have already succeeded in life, have grown so much that they block the sun. Making it impossible for those who need the sun most to get it.
The city is dying of its own success.
I just told told him nature has its own cruelties and he totally agreed. The guy is reasonable.
The first fear when learning Orin has compromised the camp: Her harming Skratch or the owl bear cub. I got so paranoid of Orin I had to stop playing for a day.
Same, I'm still not done with the game, but my biggest fear is, that she might hurt the two most important characters, Scratch and Owly. I want to go and kill her so badly, but I know, that I have to do other stuff first, plus, she has a companion abducted, I like (not my love interest, but still a companion, I care about)
In my playtrough, she kidnapped the little girl and cooked her cat. Very traumatizing event
@@TK-zf7jk I like cats but Grub won't even let me pet her, so bye! LOL

@@hoganlex1 Ohhhh Wick is 1000% a Oath of Vengeance Paladin.

Halsin spending a week in a shadow-curse blighted forest, where all the trees are actively tainted by the shadowfell, anathema to the core of his beliefs and powers as a druid, and all the animals are dead or undead: I sleep.
Halsin spending three days in a normal city: The vibes are off, I'm gonna kill everyone or myself, I think.
That's because that Halsin is sus, his is a imposter aka Orin.
So I got really paranoid that if I long rested my abducted companion would get murdered, so I ended up playing the game on hard mode for a while refusing to long rest or just using those potions that make it like you had. I ended up bumping into Halsin(Orin) in the sewer after I found the emperors old room under the inn and never got the part with scratch.
I hit up the goblin camp with no short rests, and had to Tav/Shadow heart duo the hold, while Laezel and Gale prepared a barrel and wine explosion chain outside with all the ordinance inside.
Rogue with Quasit familiar is Op af
Just happened to me last night.... I had a feeling Halsin was Sus. Well... after "testing" the girl and her cat with a couple eldritch blasts 😂
Same thing happened to me. Found out Lae'zel was kidnapped, figured I had a few days to do Orin's task. Ending up doing steel watch, then found sarevok and killed him. Saw that killing sarevok pissed off Orin so rushed over to face her. All those scrolls I stocked up on ended up coming in clutch.
I also didn’t rest once she stole my companion but luckily I found the fountain in hell that gives you a free long rest so it wasn’t too bad
they dont die if you long rest

I got a glitch during dark urge when you're supposed to kill or resist killing your romantic interest, but I broke up with everyone first and suddenly Scratch was laying in the bed. So upsetting, luckily he was unharmed.
when I played DUrge, I avoided scratch completely in Act 1 because I was worried the game was gonna try to make me kill him, I missed him during that playthrough but at least he was safe
@@ZoeBateman Alone in a forest full of goblins and other monsters? Yeah sure ''safe''

I had gotten the laezel version of orin's infiltration, so its interesting to get to see the different versions. Its also interesting how i immediately clocked that it wasnt halsin just by the way he spoke. it could be the fact im constistenly speaking with halsin, due to him being one of the characters i chose to romance in my playthrough, but even when he's emotional, specifically under stress or anger, he sounds firm and stable. The "halsin" that was there sounded erratic. Unstable. Its very interesting to me

When your party druid doesn't want to sleep in the tavern but the others refuse to camp outside the city.
Orin went after Halsin in my first run, in the sewers he acted wounded and scared of someone but I was preeetty sus of that so I didn’t buy it and she revealed herself there.
Yep same, after seeing this I’m glad he was kidnapped lol

Act 3 spoilers , basically after gortash reveals you one of the companions is compromised orin camp scene will trigger if you long rest a lot . If you refuse to long rest until you see it, the game instead forces this scene in the sewers because thats where you ll face orin eventually.
@@ventrue7 It also just happens if you go into the sewers at all and even if you don't speak to Gortash. From personal testing, the flag for it seems to be once you enter the city past Wyrm's Rock.

Tbh, I feel like this would've been better if it wasn't Halsin. I mean tbh of all the people, Halsin is the least likely to ever hurt an animal if he doesn't need to. He's literally an Archdruid, he's like the king of the hippies.

When you save him he makes a comment on how he's confused that she dragged him and wants to know how LOL
Imagine my face when I saw Halsin transform into a rat and ran out of the goblin camp
Characters like Jaheira and Halsen not being level 15+ is so odd storywise.
The first time you meet Halsen at the goblin camp he heals and decurses you, later he's opening portals into the shadowfell... which all implies some fairly high-level magic that makes his capture in Act 1 or Act 3 seem so unlikely.
Is no one talking about the +20 on that die roll 😂😂

So anyway, I started blasting.
I knew that Orin had infiltrated the camp, even so when this scene arrived I assumed it might be a new personal companion story for Halsin, that might be connected to that one druid in the city or something. I assumed his weird speech and the moment he began saying "your friend" instead of referring to himself with pronouns, it was some sort of possession from an angry nature spirit or so. Only when he began cracking and Orin appeared did I realize what had happened, and I freaked out.

Good, means the devs succeeded. Orin isn’t supposed to be liked at all lol.
Easiest way to make people hate someone, especially a psycho archetype, would be to make them hurt animal mindlessly.
@@IRedpunk Thing is, animal cruelty is literally first sign of a serial killer in the making in children. Murder of an innocent animal is how they start. So Orin in that regard is following the reality in OUR world. The scariest part that we DO HAVE changeling liker her - not in the sense of body but in behavior. Sociopaths mask themselfs, seeking to emulate emotions and actions of the normal people to stalk their prey...
i actually really like her 🌚 i think shes really entertaining and so cartoonishly evil it makes her captivating. Kinda how i feel abt astarion too (but we sympathize with him more cuz hes on our side and we get to know him), from her POV shes kind of like groomed to be a literal weapon by a cult and is constantly told shell never be better than her sibling so kind of girlboss of her to take out the competition like that 💅

I haven't played Dark Urge *yet*, but I have seen you have options to do a lot of fucked up things and I think the reason why they can fight back the urge to murder is because of their amnesia (someone correct me if I'm wrong here)

the fact you cant bitchslap orin early is a really shitty thing the devs did. if they wanted a character to harass your party, they needed to give you a chance to try and catch her, instead of always being stuck in cutscene land with her
It would be a great thing to have option to fight her on site. She's just using some blink ring, what would prevent a melee Tav from grapling or cutting her hand off so she can't slip away? maybe some DEX/STR roll, if you suceed you fight her.
@@alexmin4752 that would resolve the whole thing too easily.
Do all the conversations with her at the start of act 3 get initiated as soon as you get close to her? Like when she’s being a random guard in rivington can you attack her?
