Video streaming isn't even throttled. Good stuff.
Great segment, Rich! Loved having you in Honolulu!
It makes sense because when you flying on a plane, you are physically closer to Starlink satellites than at surface level. There are so many of them and they are connected to each other with so little latency that the satellite receiver can switch nodes without the user even knowing, which is why it can work on a plane moving at 500mph. Starlink is a game changer. It was originally marketed to people living or camping in remote locations. Now it’s matured enough to disrupt aviation entertainment and connectivity. Next it will become a competitor to Cable, Fiber, and 5g home networks. Cable usually has a monopoly on internet connectivity in some areas. Fiber has really fast speeds but limited availability, and 5g coverage is spotty and has data limitations or not fast enough. Cable and Fiber providers want to bundle TV and Mobile plans with home internet, 5g providers want to bundle home internet with mobile plans. Starlink gives internet access and nothing else. It’s pricey right now but in a few years as capacity grows. Starlink will decrease in price while others increase. Elon is a mad genius. Arrogant, Brash, Opinionated, but a visionary nonetheless.
You aren’t really closer. 550 km elevation and a plane flies at like 10 km.
@@EmotionalWeatherTechnically they aren't wrong... But it is still a difference you won't notice.
its not how it works. The servers (data centers) are on the ground.
distance has no impact on the bandwidth when you are on Earth, it only impacts latency. The high bandwidth is because starlink has no throttle and there is nobody else connected to that satellite node.
The only advantage of Starlink in an airplane is that you are above the weather and won't have rain attenuation issues, which Ku and Ka band suffer from.
This is why I always fly Hawaiian. They’re always finding ways to best accommodate their customers needs.
Nobody cares
1:31 Peleton workout? 🤔
Fun fact: this same Starlink is the one that, for the first time in history, kept a spacecraft out of plasma blackout during reentry, specifically, Starship during IFT-3.
Awesome!
Awesome flying Hawaiian Airlines to Maui next week
I just returned to Cali on Hawaiian. Very easy to use. No better price than free.
@@Davedoesthat free is great 😊
Go Starlink! Go Tesla! Go Space X!
It's GOOD! I used it, and it was LIGHTING fast.
bro was really playing roblox💀💀💀💀
Of course its the best. Starlink is by far the most advanced satellite communications system in the world.
❤
They hate Elon but they still rely on his creations 😂
The problem is everyone will rely on him and that’s what he wants. Then they have to do what he decides.
@@cityplanner3063Good for Elon Musk. No more bending knees to woke mobs.
Is that the magic keyboard for ipad!?
yea why i have one it is good?
I mean I get like 500 MPS download and like 30 upload with spectrum
Viasat-1 and Viasat-2 are amazing platforms for in flight WiFi... that do not cover the Pacific. That's why Hawaiian flights are looking for alternatives like Starlink.
And they probably deliver like 1/10 of the bandwidth. No wonder since they launch on SpaceX 😂
Loud background music
I reather download uncompress video then streaming on subscription lol. In other word I reather watch blu way that is 40gb instead streaming that is 1-4 gig video that is compress.
Elon the GOAT
Ok but Prime and Netflix do 'automatical' downloads in advance (in Android land) so you never miss the next episodes and recommended films/series because netflix and prime did download them already.
iOS too
I like when there's no Wi-Fi on a flight. I can take a break from work, life, and updates and just read a book or really listen to some music
you still can do that, they havent taken those away from you
@@BeastNZ very true 😅
Well I guess I will be flying Hawaiian till further notice !
will alaska keep it?
Live streaming influencer going to flood that plane😂
I need StarLink for my PLAYSTATION PORTAL
Bluetooth the start of neuralink
more starlink and its satellite internet competitors grow, the space war would be inevitable
A 32 YEAR OLD HAS PLAYED ROBLOX SMOOTHLY ON A AIRPLANE THIS HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE
Now how can you have wifi and put your phone on airplane mode and wifi wait what
Yea Wi-Fi works while on airplane mode. Just not cellular
It took until 2024 to figure this out lol
imagine playing overwatch while flying!oh yeah!🎉
Unpopular opinion I kinda miss the ability to disconnect from the world for a bit on a flight because you have no other choice. Now that’s disappearing.
Starlink isn't the name of that Star Fox game anymore 😢
Bros playing Roblox!
Hey, "expert", you never flew on DAL/AAL/JBU? ViaSat service is comparable (at least) to Starlink and also offers ability to stream etc.
if someone in the restroom for a long time we all know why.......HUB
"is satellite internet connection the best on airplane"
Starlink is only as fast as Elon wants you to connect. Considering he disconnects Ukraine and allows Russia to hack into the network I’d rather pass and go without. Also JetBlue had fast internet.
I wonder how many Hawaiians in Maui have had their lives return to pre-fire conditions?
None. Over all travel to the island is down. So most businesses are still trying to recover. Prices across the board are up 10 - 20%. A lot of businesses are closed. I returned from Maui last night. I have been 5 times since 2018.
It's quite amazing how many products are now tying back one of Elon's companies.
The people that say Elon is dumb... 🤦♂ look in the mirror!
They’re posting that on X while using Starlink lol lol lol
advertisement, not news.
Only Elitism needs this info.
No thank you imagine all the data being sent back to Elon servers
