It says a lot about Kite that Pitou developed a power with the entire purpose of fixing him and bringing him back just so she could experience the fight with him once more. And even moreso after Netero's assessment that Pitou is stronger than he is!

As for the royal guards, you best call them Youpi, Pitou and Pouf, that's easiest and what they are commonly referred to!
He was her first fight so obviously she lacks experience and hindsight but considering he did actually manage to pierce her skin and scratch her multiple times which is insane, especially for someone who's not an enhancer, Kite must have been really really strong.
@@Arkayjiya Not to mention its a one handed kite who's been using en all night. Even if he didnt have any struggles in his previous fights he did use his nen quite a lot as well, so not only did he lose an arm he definitely wasn't at his best nen wise either. Really impressive he made such an impact on her
For real, Ange's predictions on hxh are getting our of hands 😂 he even predicted that Kite would come back as nen puppet even though he hadn't seen Pitou's nen ability yet
And Carlie predicted that Kite will come back some way or the other. It's funny that it has happened so many times. They both makes predictions that come to out to be true, like Kurapika being a conjurer and specialist.

Worth noting about kite and gon: 1) kite is the closest gon has ever gotten to his dad and 2) they were traveling together for several weeks and implied to be bonding of screen. I think a lot of people just count on screen time together than accounting for all the travel time they had.

Gon's attachment to Kite isn't sudden or extreme for his character. Think about Gon's compassion in general for all people and even his enemies. Even when armwrestling against Nobunaga he started raging up talking about innocent people that he doesn't know being killed. Imagine it's any person he knows. Then imagine it's someone he's started too look at as a mentor.

About the pacing that Gon got attached to Kite: My line of thinking at the time was: Its kinda the first and only time Gon had a father (or brother) figure till now, plus he's a enchancer, meaning... strong emotions. So to me at least, it never felt too rushed or something that their relationship developed the way that it did.
Also Gon has a been consistent throughout the show with how quickly he makes friends and how willing to go to bat for people he is. I mean hell this is a kid who crushed Illumi's arm early on because he was so pissed about what happened with Killua.
That, but also Kite is the reason Gon became a Hunter in the first place and in the manga he even holds onto the License Kite dropped at Whale Island, only for Satotz to reveal it was actually Ging. So he definitely left an impact on Gon for him to carry around for what he presumed to be Kites Hunters License. Also the most important reason id say as to why Gon cares so much for Kite, is because Kite is important to Ging.
Gon values things that are important to Ging more than anything else, such as Greed Island for example. He hated when players trash talked the game. So since Kite is important to Ging he’s important to Gon. I’d like to say more but I can’t sue to spoilers.
That's such a cop out. Man has seen kite a total of like 2 times. It is unbelievably bad writing, as bad as Sakura sasuke but people act like giving HxH any criticism is sin.

The manga is better when it comes to this but it still hits very hard for me as someone who experienced HxH though the anime first.
Gon is that easily attached to anyone, like how he is pissed at the contestant who cheated against Zushi or talk about moral against Chrollo and yet threaten an innocent girl or use a human as a bait to catch Hisoka's tag without showing any sign of remorse 💀
He is a child thrown into a world where morality seems to be second thought while Gon himself hasn't matured enough to learn that.

Yeah the royal guards' full names are wild, but after a while everyone just starts referring to them as Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi, which is waaaaaaay easier. 😂
Also I'm sure you've realized it at this point but the reason Gon and Killua don't want to just take the tags and go is because it is genuinely more important for them to grow as strong as possible within their time constraints, because if they went back to NGL as they are now, they'd probably just end up getting killed or being a hindrance to any of the other hunters there, and we don't want a repeat of what happened with Kite now do we? 😭

The events in Episode 1 from the 1999 version still happened to Gon and Kite in this 2011 version, they just never illustrated it. Kite still saved him from a foxbear.
Yknow who Knuckle reminds me of a bit? Kuwabara from Yuu Yuu Hakusho. But i bet i feel there are some similar characters of him too.
Don't know if you've watched them Ange, but the voice actor you probably recognise from Knucle is Aoki from Hajime no Ippo and Onizuka in Great Teacher Onizuka; same VA

19:30 I mean yeah there's time constraints and they need to go as quick as possible, but they were barely strong enough to defeat a plain soldier ant like Rammot together. There are a decent amount of ants stronger than him, and now they all have Nen. Not ton mention the royal guards. Going back as quick as possible helps no one and will just get them killed. That's why Netero made the condition to defeat Knuckle and shoot, bc they were the bare minimum strength that they would allow to fight with them. So if Gon can't beat him, that means he'd just be fodder for the ants to eat. And since the more they eat, the stronger they get, that means you can only send as few of the strongest fighters as possible. That's why only three people came as reinforcements, Netero, Morel and Knov.

Oh this arc is full of reference to DBZ. I know that generation of shonen was always inspired by DBZ but this arc goes further than that with more references and in fact the whole arc is literally a dark mirror to a specific DBZ arc.
"how come she can't sense him" He's outside the range of her En (which is huge, 2 kilometer iirc), so she would have to detect him visually but she has no idea where he is or whether there's even anyone. He could be anywhere in a radius of several kilometers past her En. While Netero on the other hand knows exactly where the nest is (I mean it's obvious, it's a huge pilon in the middle of a forest xD Plus they had intel from Killua).

You’re jumping to conclusions about Gon again. He isn’t trying to prove himself; he wants to be stronger so that he’s able to save Kite without help. It wouldn’t make any sense to take the token when they had literally one training session??? 😑 He was urgent, but Bisky made a point of telling him that his improvement wouldn’t happen overnight, and Gon is headstrong, but contrary to popular opinion, he’s not stupid. It’s Binolt from GI all over again.
Pitou is really strong AND Kite was handicapped. But even then (we can assume) the fight wasn't that one sided looking at Pitous (ep 85/ch 199) (although surface) wounds and scratches as well as destruction around the area and the forest.
Ange there is one thing .. just consider that Kite and Gon meeting in his childhood as canon in this version too , cause thats the actual story of the Manga . They recognize each other at one glance when they meet again in the manga , changing it in the anime was "off and weird" . Then you'll be able to understand Gon's character development a little better . Its not an amazing setup but its not as "ehh" as the anime sets it up .

In anime it showed it so briefly. But think abt it, gon didnt have father figure. Kite came and taught it so much. Even told him abt his dad which made him started to dream to become a hunter too. Kite gave him purpose. From wht i knew, this version changed it. Kite and Gon recognized each other immediately. Some changes definitely changed how we could relate with Gon. Kite resembles father more than Ging does to Gon

I absolutely agree with Ange. If you didnt watch the 1999 pilot, youd be so confused why Gon is so affected by this guy that hes known for like a couple of days. If anything, Kite should have been built up more in the 2011 anime because at that point they absolutely knew how important Gon's attachment with him is supposed to be. Altho ive been a fan of this anime a long time, i dont really look up trivia abt its production, so idk, but i bet that was just a budget decision. They probably didnt want to cast an actor for a role that was going to take one day and then have him come back like 2 years later to resume his role
I think someone mentioned it in the video where they watch the 99 first episode, which the production teams still unsure if they'll adapt all the way to Chimera Ant Arc so they purposefully remove Kite for budgetary and runtime reasons
i've read the original manga, and i somewhat disagree
truth is it was never REALLY about kite that much, it was about gon for gon, even (kind of spoiler depending where they are) when he goes bananas if you listen to how he justifies himself it's mostly about him (try to keep it vague to not spoil lol)
sure kite is the catalyst, and it's most def exacerbated because it's him (and as such it's fair to ask to see more about him), but the way he reacted right after being kind of humiliated by hisoka during the exam shows how he reacts to the frustration of not being strong enough (and once again after the fight w/ shoot and knuckle)
maybe it's just my reading (and maybe i was influenced by the anime too because i've seen it first) but we're CONSTANTLY explicitly reminded of gon's selfishness throughout the series, and imo there's no better example than how he reacts to kite's death

Gons obsession with Kite is some of Togashis worst writing. A challenge to Sakuras love writing.

It’s not a sin to criticize HxH, but that’s just not really a good criticism. Gon cared for Kite for 2 important reasons. Idk if you read the manga but Kite is literally the first character we ever see. He’s the one who tells Gon his father is alive and is the reason he became a Hunter in the first place. Gon even picks up the Hunter License Kite drops at Whale Island believing it to be his and after the Hunter Exam Arc Concludes he asks Satotz about Kite and the license only for it to be revealed to be Gings. So Kite clearly left his impact on Gon even though they knew each other briefly. The second more important reason is, Kite is important to Gon because he is important to Ging.
Gon values things Ging value more than anything, we saw it with Greed Island with how he got upset when players were trash talking the game. Gon wants to save Kite because if Ging ever finds out what happened and Gon couldn’t save Kite, how could Gon ever face the man who’s opinion he values more than anything, it would essentially make his entire journey up until this point, pointless. I’d like to say more but can’t due to spoilers.
Even if Gon had never met Kite before the second reason is more than enough for his motivation and obsession with rescuing Kite.

yeah, kaito ending is the biggest problem i have with this show, i feel it's a big hole in the plot, but togashi were already starting to have health problems during this arc, so i try not to judge too much.

I was actually referring to his actual ending, when he becomes an ant, i just didn't want to put a spoiler there, so i avoided being obvious that he wasn't "dead", he becoming an ant never sitted well with me, because the queen never ate him, first he became a puppet and then his body was retrieved by the hunters, so i don't remember if there was an explanation for this but it still feels like a big plot hole, he should had been left dead, it was a good death here, so his death in this part is no problem for me, my problem is his "resurrection".
