As a Birmingham fan since the 70-71 season and have so many memories at St Andrews you cant help but be excited by this news but it feels like we are having all these carrots dangled in front of us and the misfortunes on the pitch are snatching them away
I for one cant wait for this season to end , ive supported the club for 50 years and cant remember a season of so many ups and downs
We absolutely have to stay up this season , if you dont win football matches you dont put bums on seats thats a fact no matter how good the facilities are KRO

I'm very excited about a new super stadium... stadiums of approx 55,000 - 60,000 take 3 years to build, as the Tottenham one was started around February 2016 and was opened in April 2019 so just over 3 years.
I initially thought that 55,000 would be the capacity like you said but Americans tend to build big so maybe 65,000 or even 70,000 as they may want NFL games as one of the other sports and they have said "Super Stadium" so I guess that may mean a big one!
Also possible would be that if ever the FA Cup semi finals were to be played in proper neutral venues like they used to be then our new stadium would be a great place for one 😁 instead of down the road in Aston.. 😂
Personally I'd love it to look like the Tottenham stadium with a massive single tier stand at one end and call it the Kop.
As a bluenose that has been going to games since around 1990 I am so excited at the prospect of going to a game and being in amongst 50,000 plus fellow bluenoses and hearing KRO belted out around it makes me very happy and cannot wait. I can't remember my first game but my now 73 year old dad took me to Wembley in 91 ( Tranmere ) John Gayle etc 😁 and through the 90's we went to about 5 games per season, and in 95 we went to Wembley again which was a great season.
The 2 Wembley trips I was aged 10 in 91 then 14 in 95 as my birthday is October, now 43 and 44 in October I haven't been down to a game at St Andrews since April 2019 when we beat Leeds 1-0 and Che scoring the goal, mainly down to the nightmare trying to park and then get away after matches and also the price of tickets as I've been in and out of work over the last 10 years.
Quite often my dad tells me that back in the 60's and 70's when he went he'd often be in 50,000 plus crowds so I hope I can be soon 🙏 and hope he's still alive so I can take him 😊
Many thanks for the great chats you do and a big KRO
    Richard

Thank you for your comment. Although our league position and form at the moment are worrying, the mid to long term vision for our club is massive and they clearly don’t think that the current ground can fulfil that vision. The difference with Coventry is that the land the Blues owners have bought very close to the existing ground will be owned by the club as will the new stadium. When Coventry moved into what was the Ricoh area, they never owned it, they were tenants and that is still the same situation today. That will not be the case for the Blues who will own the land and the stadium. It will still be a rench moving to a new stadium but I think that is what is needed move the club forward and to make our owners vision a reality. Kind regards

Build it . . . And they will come
My first match was 1980, St Andrews was past it sell by date then, Sullivan and Golds did great ‘half’ a job but were working with a tired and then already out of date business model, get rich, buy flash car, buy big house, buy helicopter, buy a football club and never had the true love and passion we all have for our City and our Club to be bothered to push on and compete in the 21st century where owners are countries and global corporations. I think the Americans (and others) are now cottoning on to fact history, tradition and passion are needed to sustain success and are happy to buy this. I am not a great one for blind loyalty (U2 haven’t made a decent record since Joshua Tree) and don’t believe we are the best fans in the world because being a fan is not a competition, we have passion, loyalty, humour and stoicism but so do, Brandford, Barnsley, Oldham, Swindon and MK Dons but they are not on the middle of a massive conurbation shortly less than 2 hours from Heathrow.

They will be falling over themselves soon .
Blues fans in general are in for a huge shock ,for the good .
We will be , what we started in the 70s , and then blew it .
4th highest crowds in the old 1st division , and threw it away , and then decline .
At last , a team has come in , and has faith in us all - the forgotten .
This could be huge - if we can keep the passion and the volume it will be some venue .
I have one dying wish ....to walk into villa Park, and sing the songs about their stadium , that they have been singing about ours for years 😂....I will die a happy man then .
Their jealousy has already started by the way 👍, because they know it will soon be " game on

The off field seems positive, so far with the new owners. The on field not so much. At the end of the day we are a football club first. I hope this doesn't get lost.
I think they need to be very careful how they go about this. In theory it could be great. Putting in place ideas and designs for, now, the near future, the medium future as well as the long term future. it may be something the can do in stages, for example I think, could be wrong, we are paying quite a bit a year for. The first thing could be to move the training ground and to stop paying rent. A top training facility will improve the development of youth players and attract players. Something that we will need if we are to build a sustainable successful club.

Thank you very much for your comment. I think the on field performances and our league position at the moment is taking the shine off this great news. The owners will know that they need to get things right on the pitch first and that can start to happen after this season is over as there are so many players out of contract. I just hope we can stay in the championship as the rebuild will be very different from league one. The clubs owners are talking big,but talks cheap & the appointment of Rooney as manager is reason enough to be concerned about what the owners motives really are ,do they really care about the well being of the club & the fans? & weather they have the knowledge to turn their big talk into actual reality. How many new owners have come into clubs around the country with big talk & promises only for it to become an alround nightmare. Building a large capacity stadium might sound good, but St Andrews is hardly ever at full capacity ,apart from when the Villa come to play. Caution maybe needed, fans trust must be hard earned over a long period of time. 🤔....⚽....🖕

Yeah, the Rooney thing has really left a sour taste in people's mouths and I have no doubt when this season finishes they will need to take a look at the impact of this decision and how it positioned us as a club. It really brought the circus to town.
I do think the owners have made some constructive changes and positive decisions as well since the start of the season but let's hope the momentum continues and they can really show us there intentions this summer when we get our first full transfer market with the new owners.
I agree that was a huge mistake to get wrong but overall I feel really optimistic. We have had such a rotten 12 years as a club we deserve some good times ahead.

Sorry but we do have lots of potential! As I've said in my own comment we could easily fill 50,000 or even 60,000 as once the team starts to rise up the league next season we'll fill St Andrews then once they build the new stadium which I think will be 60,000 😊 then having a fantastic looking stadium to visit will draw more and more fans back to support the club... but I can see us moving into our new stadium in probably 2028/29 hopefully in the Premier league and we'll sell 35,000 plus season tickets, and get crowds of 56,000 at least KRO SOTV

Thank you for your comment. The club hosted an open house earlier this week and set out their vision for the club, which is amazing. They are serious about developing the club in terms of its infrastructure, the squad, the women’s team, the youth teams and benefiting the city of Birmingham. There is no smoke screen at all. An NFL stadium would not work in this country. Yes, we may be able to host one or two NFL games but they want a stadium for the football club first but which is also multi-use to drive revenue streams. We are in a horrible place in the league at the moment but after this season our owners will start to rebuild our squad and we will start to finally move forward even if that means starting next season in league one. The present moment is tough but our future looks amazing. KRO
