    I got mines last week! Just wow! The build quality is unbeatable and the steering out of this world! Only two points that could be better. The steering link which protrudes quite a lot w/o any reason and the rear diff cover. In my opinion the rear axle diff cover should be placed on the normal external side (facing the rear of the truck). This way the diff cover screws wouldn't hit the rocks! Not only they placed it on the inside side, but they even used cap head type screws making it even worse! I immediately replaced them with button head screws, but the holes are not deep enough anyway! Overly though I am extremely happy with them. The best axles right now on the market!

    @bcochener Před 6 měsíci +1

    Isokenetic! So what did you think of all that slop in the front axles? Seems the pin holes are off in relation to the thread stops a bit too. Had to use some deeper hex’s and backspacing sanding to get thin hub wheels to seat. Other than that, super nice axles.
    And killer Ripper! Didn’t know you had a proto! Very cool. You’re right on ditching the 4WS on it. No way with that battery tray. The rear link riser is bad enough with it.
    -Cheers!

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 5 měsíci

      I think the slop is tolerable. I obviously wish it was a tad less though. Mine had some o-rings between the hex and bearing and that seemed to help that slop a tad.
      And yeah, we have the prototype aluminim scx24 AND trx4m rippers. Also #001 of both and #100 of both. ;-)

  • @cjsantaromana

    Much easier to overdrive the axles on a 4WS using an overdrive transmission. I use Hot Racing HRASXTF38X but there are generics for a lot less.

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Depends on how large of diameter the shocks are and how they are mounted to the chassis. They could rub but worst case, just turn down your dual rate until they dont. (or you could add MORE wheel spacing).

    I'm hesitant to jump to these because I'm just trying to increase my steering angle without the other stuff.
    Do you have any suggestions in terms of maximizing steering angle by just getting new front axle shafts?
    I am leaning towards the LGRP v2 CVD's since they are rebuildable and I have a tendency to wreck driveshafts.

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah, cvds will help. You can also looks closely at the axle housing and knuckles and see where it’s hitting. You can slightly trim away there and it will help. Even just a tiny bit will give you more steering. Remember in these tiny trucks, mm are like inches.

      @@TheShopMiniRC thanks for the advice 😎👍
      I'm struggling with another problem at present. I'm trying to get an understanding of droop and suspension geometry, while I'm waiting for our parts to build our first SCX24 to arrive, so I have been working on my sons wltoys 2428 trying to get a better performance from those parts on that truck, I've completely redesigned the chassis rails, and formed them from 2mm styrene/plasticard sheet, I have laid the front shocks back so as they are 40° in relation to the deck, the rears are at 45° it was working 1000 times better than the original setup while the original 45mm shocks were still on it so I'm thinking can we ad some droop with some of the injora 51mm double barrel shocks 🤔 so we fitted some, when she is just stood still she sits fairly nicely with the linkages fairly level etc then when you pick her up the droop looks mega 🤯 the main problem is that, when running her she will run fairly level then when you come to a stop she will arch her back (like a cat being sick) the harder we come to a stop the higher she goes, I know this ain't right so it is back to the drawing board, would you have any advice on shock angle? Or have you came across this poorly cat syndrome before? Is there a solution? Any advice would be welcome 😎👌me and my son are just messing about with this one seeing what we can learn and understand about these here crawlers 😎👌

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@tomwright943 hmm. Hard to say, usually the double barrel shocks do not perform the best and the more you angle your shocks, the less effective they actually become. Typically an arching truck is because of bad geometry. I’d try lessening the angle to se if it helps. Remember, you don’t need a ton of “flex” for the truck to perform well. The more flex you have the sloppier the truck becomes.
