    Loaner PN 3.0 chassis that I borrowed from Thao to try using my MR03 parts and new electronics. I still need more time on this car because I seem to have issues with electronics. First the ESC and now the Rocket 2500KV motor.

    Now you are making me want to do a PN 3.0 for 94mm wheelbase!

      When I was building the PN 3.0, it felt like I was customizing a Mini-Z and I can do what I want to it. Just like the old days with the Kyosho MR and MA cars. I hope the PN frontend had other options such as the PN upper and lower aluminum brace. Simple setup as opposed to DAA, unless PN releases a long arm version of their DAA that is easier to tune/work on, then I'd prefer that. This DAA is very compact with tiny parts and droop screw that sticks out! Adjusting droop, ride height and changing springs are a bit of a task. Luckily you only have to do it once. But there's nothing wrong with the DAA in the car, I just prefer simplicity and ease to tune especially for this car. Shoot, the rear end didn't need any tuning at all. I screwed the t-plate and disc damper, put the car on the track and it was 1/10 secs off fast lap on its first 20 laps without going back to the pit to adjust anything. I actually haven't done any tuning other than rotating tires. I did adjust the ride height once when I put new tires on Saturday.
      My SC430 94mm will go on my MR04. ;)

    Thx for the video! Car looks smooth! I’ve been on the fence about the 3.0 as my next chassis, and I think I’m gonna do it.

      You're welcome!
      This car actually caught me by surprise. I really thought it would be a slightly better car to my MR03 but that's not the case. This car had matched my race car's fast lap and consistency in 2 of our layouts: February and March in the Rocket 2500KV motor/class. The best parts is that it did exactly what I built it for, my beater car that's very low maintenance. I drove this car for 582 laps (6:20 mark) and the only thing I did that whole time was rotate tires every 2 battery packs. I didn't check the ride height or for tweak and I didn't add re-apply grease. Super low maintenance, just like the MR03.
      If you do decide to get one, you may want to consider grounding your RX since the rear brass chassis rubs on the track when the car's ride height drops to 1.7-1.8mm in the rear. Or better yet, just cut the rear part of the chassis on an angle close to the rear wheel, like half an inch! lol This will prevent the chassis from rubbing on the track and you can drive all day. Btw, I started my ride height at 2.1mm rear and 2.3mm front. After 582 laps, the rear was at 1.7mm and the front was at 2.0mm.

      I will add a review about the PN 3.0 chassis with 2500KV motor. I'm just a little busy at the moment but I will get to it when I have time. Thanks for watching.

    Where can I purchase the 19mm, plus 2 wheels you use? having a problem with my MR03 traction rolling. Kenon does not show a 2 offset only 3.

      @tjaymacRC  Před 4 měsíci

      Mine is over 10 years old. PN doesn’t make this anymore I don’t think. The remaining once in Kenon site are probably old batch. They’re selling 19mmx1.5mm offset though. Then run .5mm shim.

    weight balance isn't off TJ with the battery on one side? I thought they ran two 1s lipos in series on both sides.

    • @tjaymacRC
      @tjaymacRC  Před 5 měsíci

      I didn’t spend time trying to make the corner balance spot on. I did the setup and configuration of the car, then I bought the corner weight scale and found out that its pretty balanced. See 6:14 mark and pause it. I have no issues with the handling on the track. This car has 2500 motor.
      My 3500 & Mod RX28 are very balanced and it drives good on the track. My 2500 RX is way off on the balance scale but I didn’t bother fixing it because its good on the track. I don’t feel anything weird while driving it. The PN 3.0 is more balanced than the RX28 2500 I have but both cars drive good on the track. Last time I drove both on the same layout with the same motor, the RX28 did 8.18 and the PN did 8.21. Corner scale works on faster motors/cars. For 2500, its not needed

    Any tricks to getting the front end working well? I have one and it gives me issues constantly. I'm curious how your setup would work in mod, any plans to run it in mod?

    • @tjaymacRC
      @tjaymacRC  Před 4 měsíci

      No modifications in the frontend and I didn’t have any issues with it as well.
      No plans on running lexan body atm. I’m also using the 3.0 rearend in my MR04.

    Did you have to do any tricks to get the lipo to fit? I bought the same one and it is too tight of a fit under the rear bulkhead(?)

    • @tjaymacRC
      @tjaymacRC  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I cut the heat shrink tubing on the battery ends. Both ends and kept the middle of the battery pack with heat shrink tube. I mentioned it in a video about the battery heat shrink that will be posted in a couple of weeks.

    It's very strange nobody really runs a 3.0 on the east coast. Why didn't p.n just sell a 3.0 chassis kit. Scratching head
