      @@koski1202 Dear Ko ski, I'm sorry that I know very little about your research field, but I know many friends who are similar to your situation who have passed the 1st screening and got their letters of acceptance. In case you didn't know, I'm an applicant from China, and we only have doctoral program for this scholarship, so my answer may not be able to help you since the details of screening may be different depending on the program and embassies. You ask me about the interview and exams. We applicants in China took the interview on May 10, and there was no exam due to the pandemic. As for the "applying letter of acceptance" period which you may also be interested in, there may be online interviews which really depends on the departments and graduate schools, and only a few of applicants were required by their prospective professors to take an online interview during the letter of acceptance application phase. I'll be glad to answer your further questions if you have any :) Good luck!

      Congratulations!! All the rest will depend on the following factors: 1) how well will you do on exams 2) what is the competition 3) how “useful” is your research for Japan 4) how well you will perform on interview. So, as long as you score high on exams, prove that your research topic is relevant to Japan and your country, plus show your interest in Japanese culture on the interview, you should be OK!!

    Hello, i really loved the video! It was pretty much informative but I guess mostly concentrated on people who had already finished bachelor degree, which is not bad honestly, but because of that I got some questions. So if you apply for the undergraduate MEXT scholarship program, do you have to explain your study plan or maybe something like that? Maybe you perhaps will have to explain why you are applying to specifically Japan or relative questions? How different are the approaches to undergraduate program and others? And also if you haven’t been to Japan yet but still want to study there, would it be a must to visit it before applying to MEXT?

    Hello, I am thinking of applying for the MEXT scholarship next spring and the barrier language scares me a bit: I have a diploma from my university in Japanese language (for having taken 6 courses over 3 years), but I am by no means fluent in this language although it know the basics.
    The program that I am applying for will be given in Japanese. Does that mean that it is futile for me to apply to said program, or can I still apply and do my thesis in English? I have heard from MEXT alumni that the language barrier is not that big of a deal because most graduate schools allow you to do your research in English given that it is the language that dominates the academic world. Could you please confirm this?

I also don't come from the most prestigious university in my country so to speak. How big would my odds be to get the MEXT scholarship (or any scholarship) if I would have a good research proposal and interview in my situation?

    • @TokyoStateofMind
      @TokyoStateofMind  Před 2 lety +1

      It really depends on
      1. The country you are coming from
      2. The competition
      3. What is the diplomatic relationship between your country and Japan
      4. How relevant is your research to Japan
      5. How good are your English and Japanese if the embassy in your country judges your eligibility by the scores of these tests.
      I would say that the best thing you can do is find someone who already won the scholarship from your country and ask them for the country-specific information. What matters is not your grades but how well-informed about your situation you are. Good luck with everything!

    I really want to know this - can we study in japan with mext in English based programs ? I want to apply for mext but I have zero Japanese experience that's why I want to do English based programs which is taught entirely in English . so can I?

      Yes, you can study in Japan in English. There are plenty of English programs! 😄but it’s going to be challenging to live here with zero Japanese as most Japanese people don’t speak English.

    I have applied for the MEXT PhD scholarship program and recently received a mail which says " You've got recommended as a potential student for the Japanese government scholarship program 2021" and the MEXT will make the final decision on the offering of the scholarship through a separate screening process .
    Could you please tell me what this separate screening of MEXT would comprise of , it'll be of great help .

    • @TokyoStateofMind
      @TokyoStateofMind  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, Kumar! Congrats on getting the letter! As we stated in our videos, the selection heavily depends on the university and the guidelines might have changed because of corona. Ee have never heard about a separate selection before so probably it’s a new rule. We would encourage you to contact MEXT or other applicants for 2021 to learn about it! Good luck!

      @@TokyoStateofMind I was hoping you would touch more on the GPA issue...Sometimes we get discouraged to apply for this scholarship because some vlogs always say if you dont have a minimum of 2.30 on the MEXT scale then forget about being selected for the scholarship. For instance, I want to apply for a PhD, I have 3 publications, plenty of research experience, but my MSc gpa is 2.25 on MEXT scale, so would you advice me to apply or I should just accept that I dont qualify??
