It was their first live concert in 2 years, after COVID and the departure of their original bassist. You would have seen how happy the new bassist (Fami) was to be playing live with LOVEBITES for the first time.

Yeah and judging by that guy's hat we envy the fact that ATL's where they're doing their first u.s. show. girls better make their way down here to Florida after .. I find it funny how people will not take them serious because of their clothing . But then they listen and they get a whole nother story.... And those people that don't like this band after listening or they say that asami's voice is annoying like one gentleman in particular who is on the Rockville forums. Doesn't know his music very ..

LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics:
What's the worst way to die?
    Burning to death, or drowning?
    Everyone laughs in derision
    There's no hope at all
Why is the world rotting away
Howling in pain, they slowly die
All of the sorrow is murderous
    The insanity
    (Burn up)
    They're calling me
    (Burn up)
    It's do or die
    (Burn up)
    Get ready for hell
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
    God only knows the victim
    Everyone knows they are innocent
    All the hope is gone
    In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
    Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn
(Bring down justice to the wicked)

We can only hope that the ProgPower Festival is only the first taste of the Long Awaited Lovebites World Tour. They were headed that way in 2020 - and then . . Covid. They are Headlining one of ProgPower's stages. Tickets on sale 10/21 - $280 a pop for days 3&4 of the Festival, and they only seat about 1500. But, I'm hopeful that there will be more dates, and I do have the advantage of living in a Large City (Houston). So far this year I've seen Nemophila, Hanabie, and Gacharic Spin . . saw the Lovebites Tokyo Judgement Day concert on Livestream @3:00am last Sunday, so that *_almost_* counts - but it NEEDS to be in person.

I don't get all of the negativity of people when reactors make comparisons. We do that with everything whether it be athletes, or any artists. Making music is like cooking, we all basically use the same ingredients, it's just how someone puts them together that either makes them a Michelin chef or a short-order cook. Lovebites uses the best of the ingredients and puts them together better than other bands.

    • @brucemandelbaum2167
      @brucemandelbaum2167 Před 3 měsíci

This reactor though says it every other riff in a condescending boring "been there done that" way that is meant as a putdown of what they are playing-not as an attribute as other reactors do-I identify with this because when I saw Hendrix-Cream-Who Zeppelin and EVERYONE else-all on numerous occasions {was at Woodstock too} back then {yes-I am old} it was hard for me from my lofty perch of having seen the "REAL" musicians to acknowledge those that came after them without referring back to the REALLY great ones that the new groups were "copying"-it was hard to acknowledge that there might be someone better-my ego got in the way-I saw the metal groups too-they were loud-fast-usually with one "great" musician-and most of the guitar playing was muddy--but it was great to hear when I was tripping etc. You are right-everyone had those b4 them who paved the way-Hendrix-Who-Clapton all of them referred to those who came b4 them-bit few reviewers ever said this in. some negative-invalidating way. Brodown DID grudgingly make a point to mention that Lovebites was great but the putdowns in the middle and thats how they were meant-which happens on each review of have become boring and tedious. Lovebites HAS taken from others and ARE better than most of them--Brodown should just listen-get some humility-mention occasionally who they sound like and shutup. BTW-I almost never give an opinion on social media of any sort-this was just too annoying.

We've done around 4 or 5 Lovebites reactions, and inevitably, I get the whining because I compare them to thrash. When you've been a metalhead over 30 years, you can't help but relate bands to what you grow up listening to. That doesn't make it a bad thing.

Lovebites themselves openly cite a lot of influences--Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Helloween and many more. Their genius is in making the best use of all those influences. I don't know who the people are saying they are completely sui generis, but ignore those people. HAMMER OF WRATH" was the second song on their first full-length album and, along with the first instrumental, "The Awakening," was often used as the opening or encore song for LOVEBITES' live shows through 2020.
There are very few songs in their repertoire with solo parts for bass guitar and drums, and "HAMMER OF WRATH" is one of the few.

Years ago, I interviewed bands. Here and then I asked them to describe their music. It was always like watching Airheads (if you know you know). Except if they would grab their guitar and would really play. Master move against a printed medium. So what do I want to say, classical music still sound like classical music. Punk still sounds like punk. If it is metal, you will recognise. Nothing wrong about comparisons when talking about and nothing wrong for a band, if they just do a good job. They always deliver at top notch.

You got it right here! The thing about LOVEBITES is that you can play the game of "guess which band influenced this song!?". In this case, the band is definitely Anthrax. I always say that for this song you could take out the ladies and put in the classic lineup of Anthrax and it would sound not only exactly the same, but like it came off of Among the Living back in 1986. In their other songs, you can easily pick out Motorhead, Judas Priest, Testament, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, and others. The premise of the band is to have the vibe of classic 80s metal, so if anyone doesn't get that, they don't get the band!

I've heard, and no, we are currently in Louisiana, but I work in Mississippi at present time. We would love to attend the Prog fest, but they would need to go to Dallas, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Little Rock to be in our range.

Totally agree bro downz. They are a product of trash, metal and precision chops by all. I would also suggest any of their music videos are excellent like Shadowmaker, when designed align or Rise. And the live counterparts to these are amazing as well. Any of the tracks from Live from the Abyss 2020 especially Burden of Time are awesome. Great reaction as always. Truth. 🤘🏼🤪🔥🥓

Here's the deal. You cannot be a power metal band today and not have your influences show up in your music, you just cant do it. When I grew up in the very late 60's through the mid 80's, it was much easier for a band to sound original because there was still so much that had not been done. But today, and especially when it comes to bands from Japan who are heavily influenced by 80's metal, you're just not going to find uneffected music. What makes Lovebites so special is their level of talent, Midore and Miyako legitimately belong being mentioned in the same breath as Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, Chris Degarmo and MIchael Wilton, and other great guitar duos. They compliment each other so well, and there is no denying that corporately as well as individually they are insane players. Asami's vocal's are next level, Fami is an incredible bassists, and Haruna is an absolutely beast behind the kit. Add all that to the fact they are all very attractive women, who are feminine, and elegant, while being absolutely badass is truly original in all rock genre's.

1:47 "We ... are .. baaaaaaaaaaack!" 😄A shout of victory and relief. First live show after 2 years of hiatus. With things sorted out. And with their _new bass player_ *Fami* . And with new power, never known before. 😁
    Ready for take-off. 😁 🐺

All bands have influences and as long as they are compared to something good, comparisons are never a bad thing. You don't say copies, after all 🙂

I'm sorry but I don't agree.LOVEBITES,they are themselves, they have their personal stamp and I don't think they have any comparison with anyone.and they are also one of the 20 best bands in history, that's my opinion

You're entitled to your opinion of course, but the comparisons with classic metal bands is reasonable, accurate and a massive compliment. I really can't understand why anyone would obect to such a comparison being made.

      @ChadTheDragonLord Před 10 měsíci +1

Comparing doesn't mean they are the same, just certain aspects of them are similar. Lovebites is multi-faceted and on other songs they sound like totally different bands. That's what makes them so great.

Yesterday I watched some reactions from Lovebites and Band Maid. And I want to tell you my opinion. I really think that is a matter of taste. I am from the 60s beginning of the 70s, so prog rock is my home. Most of the bands you mentioned when trying to situate Lovebites are just names for me. Therefore, Band Maid is a group of excellent musicians that plays a kind of music that for me is more familiar, so I like them immediately. Lovebites isa group of excellent musicians that I had to learn their stile and now I appreciate them. There is a third Japanese group that are excellent musicians but they play a soft mixture of rock and happiness - but they are far far far from metal. Gacharic Spin. I do appreciate the comments both of you made, and I understand your point of view about Band Maid and Lovebites. Perhaps Unlucky Morpheus and East of Eden would suit your taste better. I notice that you made a reaction for Nemophila. Thanks for your attention.

It's okay. For some reason people take comparisons or recognizing their influences as something negative. Which it isn't. Every band was influenced by someone. Hell they even have a song called "Stand and Deliver" that has heavy Motorhead influences it not even funny LOL. You should react to that one too BTW. The official video for it is on their CZcams page.

And they all openly admit to being influenced by legends that have gone before them.

I get you man. I grew up on thrash, back in the days of jean jacket patches, bullet belts and if your parents found a thrash cassette in your room they were calling an exorcist. People need to get over this idea of "influenced by" as being some kind of insult. We are all influenced by something in our lives, it doesn't mean you're a copy. Anyway, if they really knew history, they'd know being compared to Alex Skolnik and Charlie Benante isn't all that bad. What's really funny though is Miyako herself says she used to learn thrash songs by ear when she first started learning guitar at 18 (imagine, Master of Puppets was her 1st metal song she learned by ear, and I was pumped when I figured out Iron Man!). Even Tamu from Nemophila admits Dave Lombardo is an influence, again, not a bad guy to be compared to. Anyway don't know how far you guys are into Lovebites but I've listened to their entire catalogue and there's not one average song, even the ones that aren't full on thrash. I can listen to each song 5 times and pick up something new wether it's an underlying bass line, rhythm behind a solo or Haruna's master of accenting everything from vocal to the solos. One of my favorites is on Hammer Of Wrath, listen real close to that rhythm Miyako is laying down when the band goes halftime, right when Midori is doing that solo intro with the Middle Eastern feel and the toms are going. It got this funky Nuno Betttencourt feel to it. Real quick, my top 5 guitarist: Alex Skolnik, Marty Friedman, Rocky George, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Steve Vai. Great video and love that shirt!
