Impeachment isn't a part of the legal system, it isn't a court of law. Impeachment is a political process. However, to my knowledge, the chair of the committee could have had them forcibly removed from the chamber by Capitol Police, but I'm sure the Dems would have thought that to be bad optics.

But it _would_ be nice if there was a pathway for actual people to call for a recall. It seems a bit ridicules to be locked into 4 years with someone and have no avenue for removal because they didnt break any laws (not saying Trump didnt, just saying in general). A means to do a vote of no confidence is needed.
