Whether your in a cramped car or a nice van, at least your going out there and doing what you want to do not what everyone else thinks you have to do. Big respect mate
Cheers Curtis!
Be nice on them summers evenings pulling up somewhere catching a bass and cooking it up outside your car
Best moment, when the mechanic says:
“ever thought of buying a van?”
Priceless!… 😂
That's what we all keep telling him!
A van is coming...
I was hoping Tim was taking it away and returning with a van
@@just_alex Thank God for that. Between the mechanic, your Dad and us stating to get a van, it's about time. Glad to see common sense is prevailing.
Paul, that was going to be my exact comment. 🤣🤣
I've been in the hospital for a week now. Even though you are living at a car, it still gives me vibes of being home. Love your passion and your content.
Hope you get better soon Daniel! :)
@@just_alex Thank you man! I hope you keep chasing your dreams.
Been there too earlier in the year and these guys helped me through it. Good luck.
Hope you get well soon and get home to your own bed asap. Stay positive 🍀🌻🌻
Hi Daniel, hope you’re feeling a lot better and either out of hospital or working towards that goal; was stuck myself for long term hospital stays in the past and the boredom factor just does your head in and now Ovid rules atop 🙈. Good luck 🍀👍🏻, all the best 🥸💪🏻🐬🦈🐟✌🏻🌻🍀🌷Kirsty
Glad to see my suggestion being put into practice once those seats are out there really is a lot of space. Hats off to you persevering with the polo
@Himynameisty I’m the real life dad version of champagnepapi
Who needs a toolkit when you have a fully equiped and capable DAD !👍😎
At this point successfully converting your car is going to be far more rewarding than buying van. You're getting close to getting it right! I'll admittingly miss that drawer sliding open at random on turns! lol
haha! Cheers!
This is exactly what I’m planning on doing with my wee car. I know its a small space but that kinda makes it more exciting? It’s like a little challenge. Ive got it all planned out on scrap bits of paper. Im glad I’m not the only mad one!
Best of luck with it!
I have been watching a lot of videos about car camping but I like your approach. It makes the project look possible for a beginner such as myself
Are you going to address the ventilation and insulation that cause the cold and wet conditions in the car? Because if you don't, it doesn't matter how much room you have, it won't work.
I'm sure he will. Sometimes it takes baby steps to get where you want
Crack the window
If you’re driving it, it’ll dry out and warm up…..
@@andrewrenwick6485 thats not what ventilation is
Oh man! As a mechanic my brain was exploding watching this lol you have a great outlook on life though fair play to you love the video always make me smile 🤪
Currently watching this as i camp in my ford focus MK2 estate i picked up for 600 quid. I only do it to save on fuel and get an extra hours kip between work shifts. I prefer to use foam pads or roll matts as a mattress, inflatables do my head in. If you don't have tinted windows, i just put my large grip bag on the parcel shelf to block the rear hatch window and then ive attached bunjees from my side rear windows to the handles above the rear passenger windows and across to act as curtain poles for... My curtains, lol. People say im crazy but they don't realize its pretty sweet once you're setup the way you like it. Fairplay for going at it in a bloody polo!
How many van transformations are out there? Many! But how many VW polo 2 door transformations?? You see that’s why we love you’re videos because they are creative, and you are a nice fella!
Good luck to you on this new journey!!
Can’t wait for part2 to see how you are managing that small space!
Well done Alex
Thanks for the kind comment, I appreciate that!
Just a word of warning Alex....You might want to let your insurance company know you are removing the seats etc.
They will use any excuse these days not to pay out if you have to claim.
Great vid..Good luck on your new adventure..
I'm planning on doing some camping in my car and I hadn't thought of that, thank you!
fantastic. love your laid back, naivety :-) A refreshing change from over enthusiastic diy experts. Thank you Alex.
Cheers!
I admire your tenacious determination to persevere…..Only Alex could make converting a 3 door polo into a camper work 🤣🤣🤣………Legend 👏👏👏
Thanks!
Yet to be seen?
I think something that could do a little bit of light four wheel driving would be handy too so you're not just restricted to sealed surfaces and well maintained gravel/dirt roads
Yeah that would be cool!
@@just_alex they do a skida yeti 4x4.....
Alex i could watch you paint a door and you would still have fun and make it amazing when me and my wife retire iam getting a camper van and we are going everywhere good luck to everything you do alex
Thanks. And best of luck with it! :)
Love the enthusiasm and determination. Forget the gan comments, stick to your dreams!
Cheers!
I may be late to this video but I just found your channel! You gave me motivation to tear out our seats in our susuki hatchback. We want to make it into a car camper to go car camping with my mom when she takes her trailer to a campground. We tried tent camping at her place of choice but had a horrible experience with ear wigs getting into our tent and all over our stuff. 😬
Glad to see that you didn't give up on the car for now . Just don't forget to have fun 😉😊
Ignore the get a van comments. You probably will and will appreciate it all the more for living in a car for a while. If you find it's not the life for you then you haven't invested thousands in a van. I used to car camp a lot. Bought a van a few years ago and have been building, learning, rebuilding since but illness has slowed me down a lot. You're videos are inspiring me to get back on with it. I'm sure other people have said but a voltage sensing split charge relay to charge your lesiure battery is a good idea as is a bait bucket lined with a plastic bag for emergencies. You will get caught short one day in a place far from a loo but too urban to freestyle it.
I'm only half way through the video (I promise I'll watch the rest), but you and your channel are incredible. Your respect for wisdom and enjoying the "simple" things in life is inspiring, including your love/appreciation for family and nature (and tools, lol). Can't wait to follow you on your adventures, and thank you for sharing your perspective!
Thanks, this comment means a lot! :)
Keep this videos coming! Car camping all the way!
I don't know what I'm watching, or why I'm watching, but I like it... I like it a lot. Great Job Alex!
Haha. Cheers for watching!
Looks like you are off to a great start brother! Just a word of advice, a good set of tools is invaluable for saving money and custom building things for your journey. I never go anywhere without my small tool bag, there are a few times I might not have made it out of the woods without it..😁 Great Videos Alex!
Thanks!
Can't wait for this mate👍 nice to see you took mine and other peoples advice on getting that seat out 😁
Love that you keep trying with the vw!
Always loved you and your brothers’ vids. Good wholesome stuff. Love this channel too and I appreciate that you are choosing to do things the “wrong” way in your conversion project.
Cheers for watching!
I look forward to every episode, love the perseverance! Enjoy every step Alex!
Thanks James!
I'm totally like that 😁 have so many interests in so many different directions but when it comes to doing stuff, I'm just so bad at actually doing stuff. Recently I'm investigating ADHD as so much of my traits match up directly with it. You're doing great. Keep going! 😁
Some genuine content Alex.
Nobody does do this. 😂👍
Good for you not giving up on it and seeing it till the end👍🏻
Cheers!
Loving these videos!! Can't wait to see it complete - giving me inspo !
2 seater long wheel base 2005 LandCruiser Diesel van - basic living kit in 2 apple crates behind seats. More clearance than a VW transporter, better in wet fields too, run forever if you keep the air and oil filters clean/changed, I'm 6ft 4 and have slept in the back on shoots, fishing trips - ideal. Hopefully you're off across Europe - you'll be able to sleep behind your peg on most French rivers etc. Scandinavia would be worth exploring too - I got as far as Kiruna, some amazing fishing.
I've loved every video so far Alex, your videos are... unique, interesting, inspiring, different, funny etc.. There's more in life than carp! and mostly your passion for all nature . You definitely made the right choice!
Thanks Paul, appreciate it!
I love it! You do the same thing that we all do when we have a silly idea, and hit a snag "Dad help!" and then sit and watch while dad does all the work.
Weldone Alex...I love the way you don't give up easily and you don't take the easy way out...👏🥰
Thank you! 😃
Cracking vid again Alex love the enthusiasm 👍💯🏴
Before going too far alex, have a go changing a wheel with a spare so if you ever need to on the go, you'll know whats what
Awesome video, I reckon you will hinge the bed to have more storage underneath. Just a guess. Epic work. It would be great for us all to a running cost of the conversion
I had good laugh watching this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am figuring out how to do it with my Citroen C1... for me and a labrador 😄
All seems very interesting again Alex . The finished result should be super 😄👍 ready for the next bit now to watch 😄 Nice one
Thanks Trevor!
Nice vid bro! The socket your dad is using is called a torx bit but the bit he really needed is called a multispline!
This video series is absolutely fascinating viewing, dude. I love your enthusiasm.
Cheers!
thank you Alex!! I am going to take the front passenger seat out of my Outback for travel room. :D Cheers from North Carolina
6 foot 4...!!!!! Right there is your problem dude...but l do admire your determination...
Im glad you took my advice of taking the seats out. I was about to comment saying disconnect battery and then unplug the air bag but realised you’d already filmed it. Good job the garage did it 🤣great video once again and look forward to seeing how it turns out.
Cheers!
I liked the bee docu and the mushrooms and fishing. You jonger guy teaching me older guy something. You can do it man.
There can not be one viewer who watched 'Tim' slide open that Big Red drawer who didn't make a noise like a caveman!
My brother traveled the UK in a Reliant regal three wheeler, great respect to that! .do enjoy your videos so look forward to next one
4 motion caddy maxi with a 50/100mm raise and more off road tyre be the one I think lol
Amazing as always,Can’t wait for part 2 pal stay safe g 👊
Cheers Andy! :)
Generally carnt wait for part 2. I was originally thinking this isint gona work but with the previews for part 2 I’m very intrigued to the finish results. Keep at it I admire your will and determination to convert mr or mrs polo 👍🏻
Haha. Cheers for sticking with it!
Kudos to you Alex! 👍 I'm trying to do the same with my Renault Grand Scenic 😁. Makes for a very spacious mini apartment in the back 🤣👍
Cheers Brendan!
I love your new channel! Can’t wait to see where it goes 👍🏻 I’m really pleased you’re doing it in your Polo - there’s already a million people doing it in a van….. yawn.
⭐️
Cheers Dave!
Hi Alex, I run an automotive detailing business and could get your little polo looking great again after the journeys it has been on. When you come to selling your polo to get a van, we could detail your car for you free of charge to help you out. I am following your journey and am willing to help out! Watched you and Carl for years! Good luck regardless!
Looking forward to seeing the end result. Expecting great things.
Can't wait mate hope your well
You could get your windows tinted for more privacy and I’ve always changed my interior lights to some bright white ones from eBay, it surprises me every time how bright they are on a night. Might just help you out one time if you’re looking for something or what not👌great video as always man I look forward to all your videos!
what a great morning wakening up to anther great video thank you alex you never lets us down and i was just waiting for the A TEAM music to kick in when you started takeing the seats out hahaha
this would work with any vehicle, what you need to do is take out all the seats, except the driver one, imagine your trying to lighten the car and remove everything but the necessary seat and driver controls, put a raised wooden frame that co-opts as storage underneath and general living and sleeping area above, from their you only need two things minimum, some kind of battery charger for electronics and a pressurized water container, that doubles as water jug and emergency shower, depending on whether you have tinted windows or not, a sliding curtain.
Brilliant video and really enjoying your channel. When you have your car conversion done, you should take a road trip over to Ireland.
Yeah I would love to go there!
Itching to see part two now, once you’ve built the bed frame.
I do admire your tenacity and determination to make it work. Bit like me really, I don’t know if it’s just stubbornness or
Just the fact that I don’t have much spare dosh. I think you’d like my bargain vehicle though 😊 it would be perfect for you.
It’s a 23 yr old Toyota Hiace Regius and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Absolute joy to drive with a 2.7ltr engine. It was advertised as a 1988 model for 2k but it’s a 1998 and should have cost nearer 5k.
With only 56k mileage and mint condition.
Cant wait for part 2 mate, im enjoying the polo quest!! 👍👍
Cheers, it's coming soon!
I done the same and been living in it for 6 months
Well done mate. Can't wait for the next part.👍
I've been working on it today!
Arrrrrr gutted when the video ended I was ready for the build! Look forward to it but another great vid Alex thanks!
Sorry, Part 2 is coming soon!
@@just_alex no worries Alex have a great weekend.
You are fast becoming an inspiration to me and my lil Kia Soul.
Great!
Hey Alex. Have a look at buying a tent top box. (Tent that goes on your roof)
It would be a more comfortable sleep but for when you're in the more remote locations. You can still sleep in the car when in urban areas for safety.
I liked philosophising Alex!
This is a journey I would love to live I love wildlife and not that I love fishing, u and Carl have inspired me a lot
Can't wait for the next one 👍
FINALLY HE CLEANED THE POLO 😍
Not very well though!
Fair play to you Alex, I admire your determination to make this work. I still think you should get a van or at the very least a large estate car (my old VW Passat was enormous) but Im starting to think you might just pull this off. Loving the way this whole caper is unfolding. Keep up the great work mate!
I will inevitably get a van but I'm currently having fun working on the car!
Bless this man
Looks great cant wait!! Dont expect me to be awake for 7 o clock tho😂😂
Unfortunately I’m one of those that need to be up at that time for printed crap with some strippers face on plastic
"They need to be locked up [and] put somewhere safe." Your dad just made me chuckle soooo hard! hehehehe
Get a box trailer and tow bar, Al. Sorted!
now i need to pull the seats out of my car just to keep up. thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
Just need a sticker on the back. Van life crossed out, Car life.
I thought you had half a million subscribers whilst I was watching, if you stay on this path I know that you’ll hit that but consistency and good content is key. Good luck 🤞
Can’t wait for this !!
Keep it up Alex things looking good..
Thanks, will do!
Love your tenacity Alex. Waiting for the update.
Coming soon!
enjoying keeping up with your adventures Alex keep it up
Cheers!
Another fun vid! Great to see your journey…also you can’t beat a Cadbury Wispa!
Cheers, yeah they are so nice!
Ohhh its taking shape 👌.
Makes me want to do the same to my mini! Enjoying this series and the new channel. Girlfriend looks forward to them too, keep it up!
Doing this in a mini would be a great watch! Enjoy!
How ever much I'm a fan of you and Carl. This is painful to watch lol 😆. Good luck Alex 👍
haha, sorry Jason!
I love the fact you break away from the normal, don't take the easy route and just buy a van. Can't wait to see where this goes. 👍🏻
Cheers!
Cool car camping
that little bit of mud you left on the front bumper bugged the hell out of me lol
I love watching you learn about things that I learned ages ago like different tools and whatnot. There's plenty that you know that don't have a clue about such as beekeeping and fishing with as much skill as you've demonstrated in the past.
Also, who keeps scented candles in their centre console?!?!?
Cheers Alex, only I keep candles there haha!
Haha, awesome video, Alex!!!
Thanks!
Cant wait to see how this bed works out. Honestly could be a plan for some time. Great video as always
Cheers, worked on the bed today and it's looking decent!
@@just_alex Your an inspirational kinda fellow, cant wait for your next video 👌👍
@@just_alex Also, someone once said “Necessity is the mother of invention". I'm not sure who said that, but it doesn't matter. If you can turn your polo into a livable space, I would love to see the process. Buy a van, if and when you want....I'm sure that will be inspirational too..... but for now the polo is pretty cool
You watched Morts videos I'm glad you checked him out, you have a penthouse now. He use Polypropylene sheets in black for his window covering which is such a good idea.
Cant wait for part 2 😁
Your get there in the end iv been doing the same thing for a couple of years now
I can't wait see the final end result looks like this could actually work mate
As usual great video and just love how u going with the flow pal keep it coming
Cheers, I worked on the car for the last few days and it's actually coming together nicely!
Yea nice work look forward to seeing the end result 👍
Looking forwards to seeing how this works out......
