I noticed my hearing going out 2 years ago but refused to get it checked, finally did 6 months ago and was diagnosed with Oto.
My fist sign was laying in bed and not being able to hear my husband out of my right ear, and over the two years it got way worse and is now in my left ear.
I didn't realize how much I was missing out on a daily basis, so many times where i've noticed my daughter calling me but can't get my attention.
If you have hearing issues, even a slight hearing loss, just go! life isn't worth missing out on just because you're too stubborn to admit it's happening, trust me, I wish I went in sooner.

I was a Jet Pilot and I always didn't wear hearing protection and now I'm really paying for it. I lost almost 60% of my hearing.

Thanks for sharing. There are many of us going through hearing loss and it is so important to have someone who supports you. The majority of folks I come in contact with make no effort to speak up, look at you, or make sure they are close by. It makes communication very difficult and a lot of times frustrating. Hopefully your videos will help hearing folks understand the struggles we go through.
Thanks for taking the time to share your hearing loss journey.

Hi from Ireland! Firstly I’m not going to bore you with my own tale of woe suffice to say that my hearing loss at childhood was caused by dysentery and the subsequent administration of certain drugs which had a devastating effect on my hearing. Maybe some day 🙄 Anyway I do have to say this : You are a ray of hope to everyone. Not just us. Your persona. Your voice. Your beautiful way with expression and words. Your genuine humility. Need I go on 🤫 Finally, and just for now, as I’ve just discovered your channel, you are so right to disagree with your audiologist’s findings based on tests like the Sensogram test for example. We are the ones with hearing loss NOT the audiologist! Looking forward to catching up with the rest of your posts. God bless you!

I went hospital and had a post nasal growth which we thought was cancer. Anyway moving forward that is what caused me to lose my hearing on my right ear. But hearing aids changed my life

I got diagnosed with otosclerosis in 2021. I had the same thing happen! I went to the ent thinking I had wax build up or something but nope. It's so scary finding this out. 😫 I'm going back Thurs and it's gotten so much worse. I am scared to know how much it's changed in the past couple years. I've been putting it off but I'm tired of saying "huh, sorry can you repeat yourself".. having to get hearing aids is getting closer for me. Thank u for this video. Helps me not feel as afraid.

Thank you for sharing! I completely relate to what you are going through. I know this is easier to say than do but try not to be afraid hearing a technology has come a long way and they really are amazing.

I'm trying Sodium fluoride and Risedronate in an effort to slow the progression of my cochlear otosclerosis.

Me: *sees video and instantly clicks on it*
I did so from curiosity, I knew I was losing mine cause I heard lots of rings in my ear (an still do as annoying as is)
And my hearing would cut out. Like I was talking to my mom, and in the middle of her talking, my hearing leaves for a couple of seconds. It was as if I was listening to her through my phone, and she muted her end of the phone or as if I had turned down the volume on a video I was watching.

That's an interesting story. I'm glad you acted quickly and are getting the care and support you need.
Your first trip to the ENT reminded me of when I went to the ophthalmologist about my dry eyes and she said that we could address those annoying symptoms, but we should also deal with my glaucoma and cataracts. I had no idea. 😯

I find myself needing to see lips to understand someone. If I can't see someone talking it's hard to even pay attention.

Was the hearing loss sudden? Or did it happen over time? Also what kind of things did your audiologist say that wasn’t correct or something else that you didn’t agree with?
