Yes, for me cleaning them is my great nemesis. Also, installing them after a shower with the slightest amount of water left in the ear causes this uncomfortable "suction" phenomenon that drives me nuts. So I try to clean my ears and dry any residual water using a Q-tip...no I don't go all the way to the ear drum....but I have this problem of getting my elbow in my ear (if you know what I mean). Sometimes it helps to brush the "ear thingy" with the brush. I can take them in for a free monthly cleaning...but there's no magic and after they have done their professional thing sometimes one or the other passes no sound at all. So I have found no surefire way of keeping the tubes clean. I wish it were like dentures (which I don't have) and you could just put the ends in a solution every night which would (1) dissolve any residual wax, and (2) evaporate quickly enough to not become a barrier in itself. Also, my auditory canals are different. In the left one the hearing aid "thingy" can go all the way up and push against the ear drum which leaves me with no sound at all since the eardrum has no room to vibrate (thus on the left it never feels like it's all the way in there). But on the right, things are different and the "thingy" never gets to the eardrum so all is well (except for the cleaning already discussed). Short version, there is no replacement body part that works as well as the OEM version.

I actually do use a bent paper clip. It works pretty well.

I have a different style earpiece, but my cleaning routine looks very similar to yours. I don't have the little disinfectant machine that you have, it looks really cool. Do you have a link for that? I unfortunately am very prone to infection which is a problem when you are wearing foreign objects in your ears all day long, so I usually end my routine by cleaning the outside of the earpiece well with an alcohol swab to disinfect it before it goes back into my ear. Thank you for this episode it puts a bit of hands and feet to the nitty gritty of hearing loss.

A interdental brush can do the job too. The smallest size is probably the best
