Organist Stephen Buzard played the hymn tune HYFRYDOL on the #pipeorgan at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn. This is beautiful harmonized by Mr. Buzard with a beautifully constructed interlude.

I can no longer play, but feel the pedals beneath my feet watching you perform!
That's beautiful and sad and wonderful and tragic buddy. 🤔
God bless ya. 🙏✊
Hyfrydol, one of the greatest hymn tunes ever composed and so professionally played!
Beautiful rendition in a beautiful location! I loved the variety of tone colors that were used. I've always loved how the organ can sound so gentle at times, so forceful at times, but always majestic. I felt the spirit of God in this rendition. Wonderful job!
Hyfrydol, the greatest hymn tune EVER!! ...and beautifully played!!
Trye
Was my old mans favourite. Brings out the best in a great rumbling powerful pipe organ.
Dude, that base is AWESOME!!!! You know how to play a hymn!!!!!!
Christ IS made the sure foundation! There is no other. Thank you for the music that speaks of Heaven where God dwells
Spectacular the way with the pedal part is superb of what a organ can be played by a conercer
What a great pleasure to hear this magnificent hymn played like this.
Really nice performance of a favorite hymn. This is one of the best versions of it that I've ever heard. I enjoyed it a lot.
You are great Steve🙏🔥🔥🔥
Heavenly
1 Alleluia! Sing to Jesus;
His the scepter, His the throne.
Alleluia! His the triumph,
His the victory alone.
Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion
thunder like a mighty flood;
"Jesus out of ev'ry nation
has redeemed us by His blood.
2 Alleluia! Not as orphans
are we left in sorrow now.
Alleluia! He is near us;
faith believes, nor questions how.
Though the cloud from sight received Him
when the forty days were o'er,
shall our hearts forget His promise,
"I am with you evermore"?
3 Alleluia! Bread of heaven,
here on earth our food, our stay.
Alleluia! Here the sinful
flee to You from day to day.
Intercessor, Friend of sinners,
earth's Redeemer, hear our plea
where the songs of all the sinless
sweep across the crystal sea.
That would be Hytrydol Giftantly played by Stephen Buzard on utube in this organ section Give a listen, The improvization is outstanding!

This is heaven on earth. Sounds so beautiful. Almighty God has indeed given gifts to sons of men.
Give thanks to the almighty Bach who recognised God as the same. Oh and I know this isn't his creation. Lol...
Great to hear a proper hymn!--Well played.
This was the processional at my wedding ❤
De laatste dagen van een rijk zouden nieuwe sprankjes hoop kunnen
inluiden 🕊️
This is a beautiful organ.
Song is perfect and I respect you
Absolutely amazing! There is nothing more inspiring or moving than hymns played with a pipe organ. This young man is very talented. This music lifts my spirit into a different dimension - in my mind. I can't imagine what HEAVEN is going to be like. Thank you Jesus for saving my soul!
Amen.
What a modulation and last verse!!! Now that’s a church I’d attend!
This is one of my favorite hymns in the canon. Stephen does a wonderful job here and unlike other organists, he does not do too much noodling around (a term one of my organists used in the past) when he improvises on the principle melody. It's very nice to see how he respects the limits of the text as it matches with the music, and he doesn't go too far afield to demonstrate his abilty to make his instrument sing to its best capacity. It's been said that the most versatile instrument is the organ, and Mr. Buzzard certainly shows that here. I enjoyed his performance here. Well done!
This music takes me to where I think Almighty God is, in a paradise where they play this sort of music to Him
A beautiful thought indeed. God bless you.
True. Praise be to the Almighty God!
You actually get it. Love the bass!!
Sublime play and improvisation on a great hymn tune.

Kevin - If you remember this was the first Hymn I learned how to play when I was around 9 years old and then became a Church Organist at the age of 13.... Stephen performs it so beautifully. GOD Bless everyone - Lance † ♫♪♫
Lance, I do remember that fact, and yes Stephen plays this beautifully, I still love Your version along with the several hundreds of beautiful Hymns that You and God, has provided us over the years. God Bless, I will get around to sending You an e-mail one day soon. Kevin PS. just a few updates. Much as I love Your Viscount, there is nothing like a living breathing Pipe organ !!
Kevin it is a pipe organ there is not one electronic stop in the organ
Well-played, and what a pleasure to see someone smartly turned out! Inspirational! Thanks!

Nice work from Mr. Buzard, too!
So beautifully played & a beautiful song !

I love your improvisation as you lead into the next verse of the hymn, just wonderful!!
Heavenly beautifull!
Excellent performance ... majestic and tasteful. Hopefully Mr. Buzard will publish his hymn arrangements .. especially the interludes.
It is so nice to hear Stephen. I had purchased his CD "In Light or Darkness" a while back and was so impressed by his musicianship. It is a treat to see and hear him play again!
Most enjoyable! Excellent Recording tech as well! Totally delightful and beautifully executed! Thanks for looking so professional! Superior playing!
Beautifully done I love the interlude.
absolutely heavenly
nice playing,,, beautiful tone of the organ
WOW! So nice!!!!
You're playing the very first hymn I studied when I signed up for organ studies. Awesome.
Neat!
Thats pretty neat. I like it. 👍
Awesome, dude. Cheers!
Very nice melody. Good musician
Perfect speed :)
bravo!
I have noticed that several hymns can share the same tune as another. I have known this to be Come Thou Long Expected Jesus. I don’t recall knowing this one. Beautiful performance. I love pipe the organ. Not too many younger people do these days.
Stephen Buzard is a phenomenal organist, and is now the assistant organist at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church on Fifth Avenue in New York City. His father, John-Paul Buzard, is an accomplished and successful organ builder in Urbana, Illinois. Stephen's degrees are from Westminster Choir College (where I earned my MM in conducting a lonnnng time before he got there) and his MM from Yale.
The tune name is spelled Hyfrydol, though. Great Welsh hymn!
And now St Thomas has a new organ.
You killed it 😭😭😭👊👊
Beautiful
love it! Andrew Neer does it Great Too!
Very nicely articulated...good interlude before the final verse.
Wonderful!!
Wow, you are GOOD!!!!! Meant to be played like you mean it, and you do!!!!
Buzard is one of the top young organists in the USA. His is a name to be watchedwww.saintjamescathedral.org/news/2016/06/05/st-james-cathedral-names-stephen-buzard-director-music
As an ear and heart musician, I had often seen this hymn listed but since the only note I recognize is middle C, I couldn't figure out the tune. I found by hearing it that it is a tune I am familiar with since I only play hymns. The lyrics I am familiar with are to the hymn, "Jesus, what a Friend for Sinners.". I do like his style.
Absolutely beautiful!!!!🎹🎶🎼💒
I like the 'Blue Boat Home' version.
All are just 👌 though.
DIVINE!!!
Ooooo. this is very pretty. especially liked the improv interlude. Keep it coming!
Tom Pauls thanks !

Alleluia! King eternal,
You the Lord of lords we own:
Alleluia! born of Mary,
Earth your footstool, heaven your throne:
You within the veil, have entered,
Robed in flesh, our great High Priest:
By your Spirit, left us heavenward,
In the Eucharistic feast!
So beautiful!!

#musicvideo Fellow Organ Music Enthusiasts, this wonderful hymn arrangement of "Alleluia, Sing to Jesus" is rendered by organist Stephen Buzard, on the newly-restored instrument at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Please 'like' and share on CZcams.
Alleluia Sing To Jesus (Hydrydol written in 1830) played by Stephen Buzard
Amen!
I shared it on Facebook. I don't know if you can share on CZcams. Anyway, this was a hymn at Marble Collegiate Church today. (Now, I have to make sure organist, Ken Dake hasn't put this hymn on youtube, shhhh.)
Where to begin....Loved the consistency of the tempo. You made a story of the hymn, meaning your interpretation of each verse combined gave colour to the overall hymn. The distance of feet from the pedal organ was very nice. I would love to hear you in concert.
Stephen Buzard is the organist now at St James Cathedral in Chicago
Jeez, it sounds like you know this stuff! 😅
That's awesome. 😁
I agree, his registrations were awesome, and so was the interlude between the stanza ! Great job
Stephen, an awesome rendition of a classic hymn tune that never gets old (there are a few different sets of lyrics set to this tune because it sounds so good)! As for that console, I have never seen a tilting tablet console with two sets of tabs above the manuals like that! However, you had your combination pistons set up to where you didn't have to flip tabs on and off while playing as this could he confusing the way it is designed. The only other organ that is similar is at Wanamaker's (Macy's) Central City Flagship Store in Philadelphia (their stop tabs are on tall side jambs and they have seven manuals between them)! Also, that swell manual appears too close to the tilting tablets to play on without hitting tablets unintentionally? However, with playing all on great and pedal, that isn't a problem. Anyhow, a good organ beats a great piano any day (just the smoothness of the music is so much nicer to listen to and sing to)!
Beautifully played!
Only surpassed by Canon in D for greatest melody in a song. A great modern artist Peter Mayer took this tune and wrote a song called Blue Boat Home. I encourage checking that one out.
Very good
Amazing organist and nice arrangement.
+OldWestWWII he improvised the arrangement
+pipe-organ Improvised? A Divine musical gift!
🙏🙏❤❤❤
Incredible modulation as well as the harmony in the last stanza. Wonder if that is all improvised or is there sheet music for that. All in exceptionally good taste!
It is HYFRYDOL. It is a Welsh word meaning 'beautiful'.
Ah! Thank you! 🙏
I was wondering... 🤔
To lazy to look it up. 😅
"Try to remember the time of September" from the Fantasticks. I wonder if Harvey Schmidt adapted this consciously or by coincidence.
Fine Welsh tune, of course!
Dwi'n gwybod yr emyn yma yn Gymraeg. I know this hymn in Welsh.
3 years into the future some dude finds himself impressed. 😁
Makes my hairs stand up
🎼❤
Never heard a "buzzard" play like that before. Awesome, mate! Totally!
Where can I get the music sheet of the improvisation before the last verse
