      It's not praise at all it's just rock music the band has played of Saturday night used on Sunday morning....and the little rearranging of the words: on Saturday night it's "O baby, O baby" and on Sunday morning it's "O Jesus, O Jesus." Oh well, what entertains.

    I completely agree with SuperDave and others. In trying to keep up with the Evangelicals, too many mainline Protestant churches have overly embraced contemporary praise music while subjugating or abandoning their own musical heritage. For me, such warmed over rock and roll is no substitute for traditional church music.

    Coral Ridge Presbyterian has birthed two great organists......Diane Bish and Samuel Metzger. It is still a tragedy that Coral Ridge has now gone to contemporary hip-hop racket. It really makes you wonder.......did Coral Ridge really appreciate the former glory of their (now gone) music? In the world of church music, this is a very strange turn of events indeed.

      @tonytiger75 Před 7 lety +8

      CRPC is pretty much a totally different congregation now after Kennedy died most if not all of the people who appreciated the traditional music left; I don't know why they don't just change the name too. I've seen lots of pride on both sides but most often I've seen the traditional folks being willing to accommodate the contemporary while the contemporary folks show complete disdain for the traditional, they can't understand it, it's way beyond their musical ability so it seems they like to pretend it's less "spiritual" to use that old hard music.

    • @Chesterbarnes1
      @Chesterbarnes1 Před 7 lety +2

      Uriah Peep you are absolutely correct CRPC has seen its great days. I worry about that huge Ruffati Organ left there. Ichboh has departed. Bringing Bill Graham grandson in as Pastor was a disaster,. Satan has won for a while, pray that God's church will return to it glory and grace under another godly Pastor. We hope and pray.

    • @62102mwret
      @62102mwret Před 6 lety +2

      I agree that the loss of great church music like CR had is a loss but you also wonder if you have to look at the response of the people. There are a lot of people (older, silver-haired too) who are attracted to the wild and loud praise band music and all of these souls also need to hear the word. Our local Presbyterian church's pipe organist finally retired when she turned 90. They felt a great loss at that church and finally put out a call for a new organist. They were greatly surprised that 3...count 'em, THREE, high school teenagers applied for the position. All were very, very good. The one they chose later that same year even went on to give a concert on the grand Spreckles civic outdoor pipe organ in Balboa Park in San Diego! Interestingly their leadership went on a "raiding" tour and acquired a very good music director to improve their choir and music program. There IS HOPE...IF the leadership is there. We've since moved away and our "new" church wisely offers three distinctly different music styles of worship. The one that has the biggest attendance....screaming guitars. Go figure. It is interesting that some praise band groups are discovering a hymn here and there. Unfortunately sometimes they feel they must rearrange the music. Oh well. I still enjoy looking at the old YT clips from Coral Ridge.

    • @Chesterbarnes1
      @Chesterbarnes1 Před 6 lety +1

      Uriah, I absolutely agree, the likes of Diane Bish, Sam Metzger, D. James Kennedy, the glory has left that place. I wish I could remove the Huge classic Pipe built in Italy by Ruffati ORGAN and place it in a church that would really appreciate it.. and use it to the glory of God. CRPC, is hardly ever mentioned now. What a tragedy.. how said, I fear this happened to Crystal Cathedral also, I wonder what will happen when Charles Stanley is gone, Charles Swindoll, and John MacArthur, these churches should not be built around the PASTORS, but around Jesus Christ and him crucified

      As a young organ student, I would get to attend church where Albin played. He would walk in, take the keys to the organ out of his pocket and open it, turn it on, press a piston and begin to improvise. It was magical. He was my inspiration to learn to improvise like him. And I owe it all to Albin. He comes to concerts I have played for and always comes down to say hi after the concert was over. What a great guy.

      It does compared to the Rufatti he played at CRPC. The sound of the Rufatti is so dependent on the organist's registration. Rufatti's tend to be too "screechy" if you are not careful with registration. Mr Metzger really knows how to extract beautiful sound from the Rufatti. Garrett Martin - not so much. Garrett is really good on an Aeolian Skinner though.

Larry Phelps once told me that the biggest stop on any organ is the room it's installed in. Therefore, with no reference to this particular installation, you can not, under any circumstances know the facts you claim. I play a 45 rand instrument every week, and in my opinion, this instrument really sounds pretty nice. The strings are obviously designed with a more symphonic sound.
