    To remove pre travel safely on must know the interdependent aspects of the Glock trigger system. This video describes how to push the threshold of removable pre travel while explaining considerations, counter balances, and compromises. I explain 3 functional relationships and how they are dependent upon one another to ensure safety and reliability . Engagement, connector angles, and spring combinations. Part 2 has the actual mod for the trigger safety tab.
    Enjoy the education but do not attempt this.

    Excellent explanation. I had never quite grasped the trigger safety’s role in drop safety. I also got a very clear understanding of the differences between the various connectors, especially how the angle affects the reset. The Dot connector looks “right” to my eyes as well. Thank you.

    I've been a long time DA/SA (CZ) fan, but recently bought my first striker fired 9mm (Shield). After a little tuning, I'm amazed by how good a striker fired trigger can be. Fast forward to today, I have a Shadow Systems MR920 wrapped and under the tree. I've been kicking around getting into some local competitive shooting and decided to give the 'Glock type' of battery of arms, some serious consideration. I JUST found your channel and LOVE how well you understand and explain the mechanics of this system! Now I have a lot of content to catch up on over the Christmas/New Years break!
    Great content, keep it coming! (Yes, I realize this video is a few years old now.....)

  • @GetDaChalkOut
    @GetDaChalkOut Před 3 lety

    Have to beware or keep an eye out for worn out striker lug. Your safeties may be intact, but if you have a worn out or bad striker can cause very unsafe sear engagement due to shorter length, therefore making your gun double tap or not drop safe. This is why i hate mim parts. I always upgrade to a higher quality striker so it will have less chance to fail. The main mim parts i upgrade are pins, locking block, striker, and extractor because i do a lot of more shooting than the average person and i will establish a faster and higher round count that can and will cause part failure, malfunction, or breakage. Pure strong steel lasts way longer than mim parts. I also inspect all parts during cleaning after each range session.

    My G43 the trigger stopped resetting when I manually cycle the slide. Maybe it would work 10% of the time. I did a tear down of the firing pin assembly and polished the safety plunger. That changed the reset failure from 90% down to about 2% fails to catch once in about 50 cycles, but it seems to work every time when you pin the trigger.
    What is going on? I want to polish the trigger assembly but the pin over the trigger is being a real bitch. I should send it to a shop and stop messing about. [update] got the pin out and cleaned up the trigger linkage assembly. Reset is now 100% but the trigger is tight like 12 lbs. Getting better.

    Man good info! Glad I came across your channel looks like you know a thing or two! Any way you could point me in the right direction? I mean I think I have the right idea after watching a couple of your videos but basically I’d like to modify my g43 trigger into something with little/no take up, to a decently hard noticeable wall, to a nice light crisp break. None of that mushy rolling break crap that you get with like a 3.0 connector, I like the light trigger but I can’t stand not having that wall to break. Tell me if I’m wrong but It looks like I might want to switch from the 3.0 to something like a Glock minus connector? To bring my wall back, without making it too heavy. And then maybe lighten all the springs just a touch? To get me that light crisp break I’m looking for. All while keeping the trigger spring and firing pin spring balanced in weight to keep things safe? Again this is just a guess after watching some of your stuff lol I’ve never tried any of this before so I could be way off.
