    I am so happy to have found your channel. I had 10 years of violin lessons but never learned most of the stuff you teach. Your explanations are very clear and easy to understand.

    Thank you very much for sharing us this kind of videos. Taking care of the violin is under appreciated for some students. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to learn from you. I hope you can continue making more videos.

    I looved so much the rice part, not only because it's overly useful but because it was hilarious! I'll try it out in this instant my I've had my violin for almost 4 years with me and never ever have done this. I also apply alcohol on the strings on the sounding points after every play but never done it up to the nut, thanks for the advices!

    Hi Ms. Bushkova,
    I was wondering if you could post a video on maintaining posture (maybe even post some exercises that you use in order to maintain yourself). You’re probably the only person I can think of with good posture.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Julia, would you please tell me how to change the strings and how to install the fine tuner?
    Thank you!

    • @viniglerianoviolino
      @viniglerianoviolino Před 5 lety +1

      Rayschu, the strings must be changed first G, E, D and last A. Be sure to wind around closely the strings to the pigs.
      I advise you Install fine tuner before a string changing.

    I noticed you didn’t get all the way down to the bridge when you were cleaning the fingerboard. Is there any inconvenient in using alcohol to remove the rosin from that particular portion of the strings (the dirtiest of all)? Thanks for your videos! I’m actually a cello student, but I really enjoy your explanations! :-)

    • @ViolinClassUSA
      @ViolinClassUSA  Před 4 lety +4

      I do not think the rosin needs to be removed from where it is usually played off by the bow. I clean there very infrequently (it is like removing the dust from the road...) But on the FB, it interferes with the left hand and, therefore, should be removed. I am glad you find my videos useful. I gave lessons to cellists before!

    If the fingerboard is panted black (like my viola, 8:42 ) how shall we clean it? Is the lost of colour inevitable in that case? Many thanks! Big fan of your channel!❤

    • @ViolinClassUSA
      @ViolinClassUSA  Před rokem +1

      You may still clean the painted fingerboard with alcolhol but rarely and not very vigorously. The color will be coming off a bit, though, it is true. It will become lighter, more brownish. Thank you for your question!

    Thank you so much I was doing it wrong and pushing on the rag. Common sense says you should not do that as you would be pushing it in.. Daah . Rice !! wow I could not think of that I have a small little label that says "France" way back in the violin I think it would damage it no? Anyhow I am going know to check for dust bunnies. Thanks again

      They are cleaned by alcohol wipes while you are cleaning the fingerboard (I demonstrate it in the video)

  • @musiccismyloveofmylife403

    Hello does the alcohol affect the string or no???

    • @ViolinClassUSA
      @ViolinClassUSA  Před 2 lety

      The alcohol cleans the string - so, in this way, it affects it. It does not produce any harm to the string.

  • @ZealVD
    @ZealVD Před 5 lety +1

    What about the bow?
    Would using alcohol wipes be ok on the frog?

    • @ViolinClassUSA
      @ViolinClassUSA  Před 5 lety +1

      It depends on what the frog is made out of. Most frogs are made of ebony, so, technically speaking, you could use the wipes on it but I never tried it as it never got any rosin or dirt on it. And, of course, never use any alcohol on the wooden part of the bow

    • @ZealVD
      @ZealVD Před 5 lety

      @@ViolinClassUSA It might be a bit risky - but i get quite a bit of rosin on the ferrule(?) - the little silver thing just before the hair. I think it's also going a bit green, like how some jewelry gets... maybe it's a good sign i'm practicing lots lol

    How do you clean the strings from the rosen? Cloth or alcohol?

    • @ViolinClassUSA
      @ViolinClassUSA  Před 4 lety +1

      I do neither as my rosin does not leave any residue!
      But if yours does, you could do either one. If you use alcohol, make sure to let strings dry completely before playing again.

    Wouldn't you put small carrot pieces in to attract the dust bunnies? But, then you would be shaking little bunny poo poo out of the f holes - just kidding. I saw Tommy Jerrel put a rattle (the end of the tail of a rattle snake) in, more as a charm than a dust bunnie eater. Who made you violin? I have a Rena Weishaar fiddle that looks similar (but smaller strad pattern) and sounds similar also.
