What complete book of violin scales, arpeggios & double stops do you recommend? I ordered Flesch online, and it is a huge disappointment. Odd and non- ergonomic fingerings, I think it's useless. I need a book that shows 4 octave fingerings, as well as clear indications as to where to shift. Also consistent fingering which stays the same ascending & descending. Please help me here, and a huge thank you in advance.

Always excellent information! I’m very glad you didn’t listen to surgeons. Alternative medicine and healing techniques should always be the first things to try. They take time, and effort, but the body in its infinite wisdom, given the right circumstances, can often heal. Surgery is there for when all else fails. Prevention and awareness is so important. I’m a beginner, so far I am pain free but since I am older beginner, I will take your advice and take breaks and try to avoid static situations when practicing. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!

Honestly, I wish we had something like this for every section. I didn't get very far as a violinist and now that we do the majority of composing digitally using a keyboard controller with sample libraries (which makes every articulation and sound possible), it can be really difficult to remember all of the ideal ranges and what transitions are comfortable and reasonable on a real instrument. This was incredibly helpful!

Hilary Hahn uses a weird shoulder rest that gows over her shoulder.Im not saying this has anything to do with her injury but her violin is mostly stationary, she may be a great violinist but i would never do what shes doing.

Thanks a lot for this video, I'm writing a quintet for strings and saxophone, and me not knowing how to write for strings, this gave me a lot of insight, and disclosed somethings I might have to change, like those darn tritone double stops😅

Thank you so much! Unfortunately youtube keeps removing my comment with the link, but I found both books mentioned in the stream on the website "archive", then dοt, then "οrg" - it's one of the biggest American online libraries, where after creating a free account, books can be "borrowed" for one hour and read online (if one hour isn't enough, it's always possible to borrow it again).

Felicidades.

I made up a scale that uses only the first finger to practice getting into the correct positions. Sometimes it uses reaching backwards and forwards and then shifting .Coming back down is very useful too. After that it`s hard to play out of tune . I don`t know if that has a name . Lovely that your Russian musical roots are still so highly valued . Sassmanhaus does a one finger scale but that is more a position change practice. My funny one finger scales work the way you move around as you play music .Then there is the Ruggiero Ricci method to Imitate the Crab. Imitando il Grancio . I hope that spelling was right . After that we should invent a finger substitution scale . I have not heard finger substitutions for a long time.
