Door Lock Module Removal - Seat Leon 1m / Toledo 2 - Part 1

  • In this tutorial I will show you how to remove the door lock module, for your Seat Leon 1m / Toledo 2.
    Another method is to remove all the screws, then remove the metal panel + door lock in the same time. It depends which method is easier for you.
    If you have a Vw Golf 4, Bora, Skoda Octavia, the method is similar.

    Brilliant with every detail covered including the PITA wet door issues. Well done Sorin and thank you. Its tragic to see how over complicated everything has become these days by design. We used to fit electric windows and locks to cars as optional extras in the 90s. They were simple modules that were easy to fit and easy to repair. The seat's by design seem to made it 1000% harder and more expensive. Not to mention increase the failure rate 100x. Its just nonsense. never know such an awful design flaw by what is essentially a VW. Grrrr this is the trouble when you let spotty kids design stuff on a computer that bears no resemblance to the real world and have probably never even seen inside a car door!

    BTW - the "triple square" 8mm key that you mentioned is called SPLINE! :)

    Hi, this is fantastic thank you. I just need to replace the electric cable from one door to another. Obviously the hardest one to release is the central locking. I also can't get power to this window so can't remove it. Please can I ask what do I do? Can I leave the window and just remove all other screws as you did and still release the electrics from the central locking? No easier way is there? Thanks

    Very helpful video. No it's my time to make door lock mechanism change. I wish that I would find this video earlier. Maybe I would not have to buy new lock mechanism. That cost me 282,40 Euros.

    Thank you for the video. I have serious issues with my Leon's front left (driver's) door. The remote signal of the key haven't worked in the past 5ish years not even with new batteries. We locked and unlocked the door the old manual way since then, but sometimes the central locking system did not lock the other doors and you had to try it several times. After that it degraded further and started to never close the other doors, so I had to use the right front door or press the locking button on the left front door to close the other doors before I close that single one. A few days ago when I tried to lock the door I could not pull out the key. I think something is broken in the lock, which does not let me turn the key and pull it out. I used the second key to drive home and to close the car with the right front door. Since then it simetimes locks down the car when I close the door or even when I am driving. An even funnier thing that sometimes when I try to lock the car with the other door it goes in a loop and locks and unlocks the car 3-4 times. On the second try it usually locks down the car properly. I managed to buy a new lock for the left door second hand. I found somebody who can set the lock to work with the current key before I build it in, but I doubt that will be enough to solve all the problems related to locking. Can you give me some tips what I'll need to fix everything, even the remote? I'd like to know where the receiver of the remote is in the car and how I can replace it. And I guess there are broken wires in that door too, which I'll have to replace too. Even some sort of tutorial would help, which describes how these locking mechanisms are wired and controlled, and what each wire and module does. Do you have any idea where I can find that info? I think figuring it out myself would take weeks, probably months. It would be still fun, but I'd rather do this in a week or hire somebody with the job, because I don't want to end up closed out of my car in a remote location...

      hi. when my door locks started making problems, they also stored an error on the comfort module. your car may also have an error stored, that prevents the remote central locking from working. first you need to repair or replace all the broken door lock modules. in 90% of the cases it's the same problem that I repaired in my videos. after you repair all the door locks, scan for errors with vcds, delete the errors. the remote central locking may work again. if not, I don't know where is the receiver for the remote and I don't have the car anymore. after all this, if all the door locks work and the central locking works too, from the button inside the car, or with the key in the lock, then I suggest you buy a simple alarm kit and install it at an auto electrician. it shouldn't be very expensive. the alarm will be connected to the central locking module, so you can lock/unlock the doors remotely and you will also have some extra protection.

    Just to mention the plastic connector used to attach the lock to the inner metal card is for factory assembly only..........you can get rid of it and simply refit the lock before the metal card/window reg..........it makes it a lot less fiddly.

    Salut Sorin mersi de video mă ajutat mult eu am un seat Cordoba și ușile din spate nu mai merg una nu se mai deschide deloc și cealaltă pe care vreau să o repar nu se mai închide poți te rog să ami dai ceva sfaturi cum pot deschide ușa blocată ca să pot schimba și acolo mecanismul pe care ai arătat ușa din spate stânga mulțumesc

      hi. the exterior door handle cable 3:13 may be too tight, you need to adjust it. or you can reach the door lock with a screwdriver, through the same hole and unlock it, like the key does on the driver side. but to remove that knob 3:07 you need to have access from the side of the door. I think the only possibility is to remove the back door from the car, then you have access to remove that knob.

      hi. you can leave the window in the door. after you loosen the clips, rise the window in the upper position and fix it to the upper door frame with scotch tape. but be careful when you remove the metal panel. the window mechanism has 2 big metal sliders and can damage the window.

    One question: when you speak about to take free the holes on the under part of the door, you do also change the old gasket or do you take the old one? I want to try your system, but I have the problem that noone in my region I recevi another gasket. So maybe it would be ok to use the old one?

      hi.you can use the same gasket, but clean it. you can also enlarge the holes through the gasket. and clean the inside of the door.

      yes. you can clean the rubber gasket under the door and insert something, made of plastic, through the holes, to unclog them.

      salut. de obicei problema e la cablul acela scurt, care leaga o tija din yala -> de manerul exterior de plastic al yalei, de care tragi sa deschizi usa. cablul acela nu trebuie sa fie intins, altfel nu se descuie yala. incearca sa impingi de manerul exterior de plastic in usa, tii apasat, ii dai cativa pumni in usa sub yala, dar cu partea moale a pumnului :), apoi tragi de maner. poate se slabeste putin cablul si se descuie. daca reusesti sa o deschizi, trebuie sa demontezi butucul, cum am facut eu in clip si sa slabesti cablul acela. daca nu reusesti asa, poti sa incerci sa distrugi bucutul cu o bormasina, sa il scoti. dar cu grija fara sa distrugi cablul sau partea interioara a manerului. apoi cand ai acces la cablu acela il scoti din maner si il prinzi cu un pin mai slab, e un fel de clema din plastic acolo, se vede si in clipul meu cand montez yala la loc. apoi cumperi alt butuc din dezmembrari si il montezi acolo. problema asta am intalnit-o eu, dar poate fi si altceva mai grav...
