East Tennessee Orthodontics yeah I’ve noticed that my teeth seem loose. The pain is mild but it doesn’t help that the plaque toothpaste that they gave me, I’m allergic to.
From what I’ve read about online and what I’ve heard from my orthodontist, there are no side effects of the tooth paste. So it must be something in the tooth paste that I’m allergic to. All I know is that I can’t use it with out having a allergic reaction
Y Fiefiw the best way to keep traditional wax from falling off is to use a bigger piece than you think you need and to dry to area the best you can before you put it on. Try and squeeze the wax underneath something to help it hold like a braces hook or another undercut. Blaze Bourne try to keep it from getting wet. I found that it helps if you try not to take it out if you’ve misplaced it, or try to not get it too wet from your saliva

At my last appointment, one of my wires was cut at an angle, so it is really sharp and has cut up my cheek a bunch causing blisters. Today I finally decided to use wax on the bracket and it really helps. Luckily I have my next appointment in 6 days, so I can get my wire changed. This is the most excited I have ever been to get my braces tightened. :)

I just got my top braces today, they don’t necessarily hurt as bad because I guess I’m used to the pain from the expanders, but is a weird tingling feeling from the hook normal? Is wax needed?
Anusha Shrestha the pain may get a little worse tomorrow before it gets better. Wax is never required. It’s nice to have for irritations if you need it. Not sure about the tingling feeling. Give it a few days.

AmauriXI you can keep it in as long as it will stay. It will probably come out as you eat and you need to remove it to brush. It won’t hurt you to eat and will just pass right through.
Hey I have a question. I just got my braces on Monday. Whenever my mouth is in resting position, my teeth, especially the molars and premolars, are clamping down on my inner cheeks. I don't if that makes sense. Like when I'm keeping a straight face, my back teeth is biting down on my inner cheeks. I have to always be aware and correct it but it makes me uncomfortable when I do because then my mouth will no longer be 'resting'. It just started yesterday. I don't know of it's the braces working its magic or it's because I sleep on my jaws at night, that is my cheeks on the pillow, that is causing my jaws to shift and offset my jawline. Please reply
Henry Ijeoma I’m not sure and could only speculate. This sounds like a question for the orthodontist treating you. Most of these things are just initial adjustments to having braces and will get better.
Pinnaclenoob you are fine to eat with it on. If it comes off just replace as needed. Sometimes you need it to help with rubbing while your eat. It won’t hurt you if you swallow some wax.
I have a band thing that is on top of my bracket and it connects to the back teeth because i had a tooth taken out. But i dont know how to put the gum on top of the band because its rubbing my inner cheek ? What should i do?

SpeXXah _ that’s a tough one. Most of the time it’s hard to get wax to stay in that place. Your orthodontist may need to take a look or see if they can figure out if they can make it better
I’ve had braces for months now and the first week or so it can hurt a bit try to eat a diet of yogurt soup maybe bread if you can tolerate the pain Eat a big portions of food before getting braces on because after a few hours it will eventually start to hurt I recommend Taking a pain killer before getting braces btw feel free to ask me anything about braces I have experience folks but if you’re getting a expander too like I did I had my expander and braces at once and I would say it feels weird the expander because there’s is a it of pressure food can also get stuck in your expander for that I recommend getting some things called “Jordan clean between sticks” the small plastic one they are cheap what I did was I broke the thin plastic end off and it’s really good to get things out of my expander Now as always have a great day people 👍

I just received my Braces this morning and as expected, I will feel some mild discomfort. Is it okay for me to use the Wax for this cause? Or should i let the natural pain wear off in a few days like most braces do.

They should change your colors to new ones every time you visit your orthodontist for regular visits. If you call your orthodontist tell them you made a horrible color choice and ask really nicely I bet they’ll change your top color before March. 😁
Dakota Brownjohn we order our braces and some come with hooks. They are there wether we use them or not. You orthodontist may be able to bend them in or remove them if you are not getting bottom braces
When we apply braces we have to make the teeth really dry so the braces will stick. This can dehydrate teeth and make feel dry and sometimes brings out some white color. They should rehydrate in about 24 hrs. See if the white stain goes away. If it doesn’t let your orthodontist know at you next appointment. Can compare it to the photos of before you had braces and see what has change or not changed.
i just got my braces 3 hours ago, the dentist put 2 wax on 2 of my back teeth(not on the braces itself) to prevent me from fully closing my teeth, now the wax are stuck i cant get them out, am i supposed to wait for it to dissolve or something
You can. I’d probably try and change it out at least daily. It can pick up food particles and bacteria if left i too long. It also doesn’t stick as well
Tanky_Tonk depends where the uncomfort is coming from. It you feel discomfort is coming from the braces rubbing the cheeks or pushing on the cheeks then wax can be a big help.
Brian Hernandez should be fine and if you swallow it in your sleep, no big deal. Because your mouth dries out at night braces tend to stick and run more.
Just got my braces today but the upper part 1st with 2 springs attached...bottom part on next appointment..got 4 teeths extracted..ouch !!! So far its hurting abit because it touched my cheeks and kinda sore right now..

You can take both Tylenol and Ibuprofen(Advil) at the same time as long as you are sensitive to that medication. Tell your little bro he need to buy you some more Ice Cream though. 😁
It will usually last a day or until you eat a big meal in your mouth. Just replace as you need to. In the pack it last forever unless it gets too hot and melts.

valeria sanchez sounds like you may need your wires trimmed. You can try cotton balls if you don’t have wax. That will probably work better than paper.
DaReal Princess it can be for both. Pain. Is usually from running from the braces or poking of wires. These can both develop into sores. Wax can help for pain or with sores if they develop.

Not all dentists are orthodontist (specialist who go to school and extra 2-3 years after dental school to learn how to move teeth). Dentist can still put on braces but don’t have as much training. Xrays prebraces are standard of care. If you didn’t get one or they don’t have a current one for you you need one. Most people are fine and it doesn’t change plans but we occasionally find things that change plans and we use them to verify healthy teeth and bones before we begin treatment.

Mist Elly every dentist office should have the ability to take at least some xrays. Not sure why they need you to travel an hour to take an X-ray. Do you live in America or another country?
GaveeTheKing we usually recommended Tylenol or Advil/Motrin or whatever you usually take for aches and pains. This can help take the edge off for the initial days of soreness.

After 1 week, no more pain killers. Only took pail killers for the first 3 days only.

I got braces yesterday and I freaking cried a couple hours later. They hurt. Although I have the best diet ever of Mac and cheese and smoothies!

It depends. A lot of times it will come out as you eat. Take it out before brushing and just replace as you need to.

I just got my top braces a day ago and I picked the worst colors together dark blue and light blue it looks like I’m missing teeth lol in march there gonna out my bottom braces and I wanted to know, if I ask them if they can change the color of my top braces will they do it cause these colors are not it 😭
They should change your colors to new ones every time you visit your orthodontist for regular visits. If you call your orthodontist tell them you made a horrible color choice and ask really nicely I bet they’ll change your top color before March. 😁

I have hooks but I don’t have bottem braces so why do I have hooks cause I can’t put elastics on it’s a method of touture I got them yesterday help me
Dakota Brownjohn we order our braces and some come with hooks. They are there wether we use them or not. You orthodontist may be able to bend them in or remove them if you are not getting bottom braces
I just got my braces today and my teeth feel dry like when the hair touches them and I was left with like a white stain on my teeth ? Is this normal?
When we apply braces we have to make the teeth really dry so the braces will stick. This can dehydrate teeth and make feel dry and sometimes brings out some white color. They should rehydrate in about 24 hrs. See if the white stain goes away. If it doesn’t let your orthodontist know at you next appointment. Can compare it to the photos of before you had braces and see what has change or not changed.
My bracket stay flipping over the wire cause the glue is not there anymore. Use wax?
Wax can help stabilize the bracket till your orthodontist can get it glued back on

i just got my braces 3 hours ago, the dentist put 2 wax on 2 of my back teeth(not on the braces itself) to prevent me from fully closing my teeth, now the wax are stuck i cant get them out, am i supposed to wait for it to dissolve or something
쯔위CHEWY these aren’t wax and not meant to come off or dissolve. They are called buildups and They are so you don’t bite on the braces.

Itzel H you can keep it on as long as something is rubbing or bothering you. You just pick it off or brush it off if you need to remove it.

You can. I’d probably try and change it out at least daily. It can pick up food particles and bacteria if left i too long. It also doesn’t stick as well

Quennie Zhang no problem. If true rubber bands are on a tooth that needs the wax you’ll have to put the bands on first then the wax.

Tanky_Tonk depends where the uncomfort is coming from. It you feel discomfort is coming from the braces rubbing the cheeks or pushing on the cheeks then wax can be a big help.

Brian Hernandez should be fine and if you swallow it in your sleep, no big deal. Because your mouth dries out at night braces tend to stick and run more.

Just got my braces today but the upper part 1st with 2 springs attached...bottom part on next appointment..got 4 teeths extracted..ouch !!! So far its hurting abit because it touched my cheeks and kinda sore right now..

Saber Legend it can last a while if you need it. Usually people replace it daily or as needed. It can get gross once food gets stuck in it.

You can take both Tylenol and Ibuprofen(Advil) at the same time as long as you are sensitive to that medication. Tell your little bro he need to buy you some more Ice Cream though. 😁

What is the longevity of the wax ?
It will usually last a day or until you eat a big meal in your mouth. Just replace as you need to. In the pack it last forever unless it gets too hot and melts.

My wires are wiggly idek why but there not coming off so it hurts when I bend it cause it pokes my cheek a lot n I lost the wax n imma try going to the store to buy wax I told my mom about it she said we can't Cause my sisters teacher coming tomorrow (she fractured her ankle) so I put paper inside my mouth it hurts😭 n i still ate
valeria sanchez sounds like you may need your wires trimmed. You can try cotton balls if you don’t have wax. That will probably work better than paper.

The first time you get your braces on it typically take 3-5 days to feel back to normal.

Wax can help with that. If you feel like the wire is long then they may need to be trimmed. Your orthodontist can get you fixed up.

skitzmaker totally. Pressure is what moves teeth. You may get a little discomfort after a day or so and you won’t feel the pressure after a few days

DaReal Princess it can be for both. Pain. Is usually from running from the braces or poking of wires. These can both develop into sores. Wax can help for pain or with sores if they develop.

Not all dentists are orthodontist (specialist who go to school and extra 2-3 years after dental school to learn how to move teeth). Dentist can still put on braces but don’t have as much training. Xrays prebraces are standard of care. If you didn’t get one or they don’t have a current one for you you need one. Most people are fine and it doesn’t change plans but we occasionally find things that change plans and we use them to verify healthy teeth and bones before we begin treatment.

Plus I have bruxism, I can bite I think 3 brackets and my dentist's appointment is full every day I can't get one. It's too painful and I'm so afraid, I think I'm not going to be fine :((

GaveeTheKing we usually recommended Tylenol or Advil/Motrin or whatever you usually take for aches and pains. This can help take the edge off for the initial days of soreness.
