Great comparison video. I like both pickups but for different reasons. I think the Wilkinson’s are good for a certain sound, definitely Rock/Blues but that’s it. Now the Fender 57/62 would cover more spectrum. They have more clarity in the mid to high frequencies. The Wilkinson’s have a muffled sound in this frequencies but has a boomier bottom end which is good for driving a close to break up amp but have to be careful that the sound doesn’t collapse in on itself. Fender 57/62’s clean up better imho. They are fuller in the mid and not muddy like the Wilkinson’s. Now that’s not to say that Wilkinson’s are not good in the 2&4 positions but the fenders beats them. I’ve owned both pickups but use two brands now fender fat 50’s mainly and Tone Riders. I think Tone Riders are better than the Wilkinson’s in sound hands down! Great video and I look forward to seeing more of your stuff! Cheers!
Funny because I pulled a set of Wilkinson premium WVS 69s pickups from a 2019 Icon V6 I bought. Funny because now owning a vintera 50s modified and comparing the two, the Wilkinson pickups really hold their own. Now I know ttev Wilkinson was going for a mix between the frusciante and Hendrix pixkup years. Hitting right around the 64s, 65s. It's amazing these gold their own. Actually switched these for a set of fender deluxe drive. I'm actually about to put the Wilkinson back in. There's more clarity in the fenders and the Wilkinson are a bit darker, but it's amazing the essence they capture. Great pickups.
I recently got a Vintage Icon V6 distressed with these exact pick-ups and blown away... It sounds more like a fender than my buddies 2020 Player series. It's hilarious. I swear by Wilkinson now, always will. Did you upgrade wiring harness and everything with the pick-ups. Also, what's the riff you were playing on the clean demo?
Trev Wilkinson did work in California at Fender with Leo, and he has stated he and Leo use to discuss p/u , Wilkinson has the Vintage sound , but as consumer's we have been brainwashed unless its this brand its crap, if you want name brand you are primarily paying for the name, I take the Wilkinson's ,
@@Bergerguitar thanks for the reply! I’m curious about the wilks because I see different “levels” of parts. I have my eye on a loaded pickguard on eBay with orange caps but I don’t think I heard a set yet.

@@Bergerguitar You're welcome !
thanks, for me, 57/62's neck is much x100 better for the vintage strat.
The Fender Stratocaster Original '57/'62 reissue pickups are better than the wilkinson
Great comparison! They both sound great! The Wilkinson sounds fuller to my ears.
I think Wilkinson's sounded better in frequency, but it sounded a little bit detuned to my ear, but I guess if it was detuned was more by the guitar
Very nice! Just got same pickups & sound so awesome!. Cheers.
Cool!
I like both. Personally, Wilkinson sounds fuller and more silky. I bought one set

Thanks trevin!
To my ear, each of these pickups sound perfectly fine for playing double stops.☺☺☺

wilkinson sounded like ceramic thin and fizzy

Where did you buy your pickups? Aliexpress? EBay? Amazon? Do you have the link?
Aliexpress
Guitar with Wilkinson needs a tune. On a crunch is a very listenable
New strings 🤷
I'm sorry to say Fender wins.
Cool, fender IS good!
Are the Wilks with the orange cap?
No

nice demo but the fenders win by a long shot. way more low end and balls. The wilks were way too thin.
wilks have low end
it sounds like the complete opposite haha
Bro, it's the opposite. Fender is more thin and Hendrix like, strat classic tone
god damn, everything was going so good until you changed the guitar, WHYYY!
do you compress the sound?
No
@@Bergerguitar thanks dude
@@Bergerguitar porque todos tão dizendo que o wilkinson soam meio desafinado??
Eram cordas novas, Acredito que estava mesmo um pouco desafinada a guitarra...
I think The "Wilko's" sound more Authentic than the over priced Fenders!
Não gostei desses captadores. som esquisito abafado. Prefiro os genéricos.
The wilkinsons sounded more out of tune!
New strings
muito desbalanceado o som
Não mesmo, muito boa resposta pela proposta.
