  • I bought an Eley hose reel, a flexzilla hose, and a flexzilla hose reel. So far so good. I'll have to try to keep you posted on my opinion on these products over the years. You shouldn't have too many problems with assembly, as the instructions that come with the Eley hose reel are very straight forward, but, if you are looking for more videos, here are the links I referenced in the video:

B-hyve timer; in the front there is a button. Long press until the light turns green and it will manually turn it on without the app. A quick press will turn it off.
Use the app to set the default timer duration; example: I set mine to run for 30 minutes when turned on manually.

Instead of buying more awful plastic garbage, I got myself a Jack Daniels half barrel from Lowe's and drilled a hole to feed the hose through. Coiling the hose up in there is super easy, it looks much nicer in the yard than any plastic reel and when it rains the backyard smells faintly of aged whiskey.

Personally, I got tired of dragging long garden hoses all over my 5 acres. So I took the time and effort to dig trenches and run PVC pipes to all the different areas where I need water at and put in the outside water faucet that doesn’t freeze in the cold winter weather. Now 10-25 ft of hose gets me anywhere I need to water. Working on putting in auto/timer water system in the gardens so there’s little to no hand watering needs too! Try to cut labor times down as much as possible to have more time for other projects that also need done too!

Dramm Quick connects have been fantastic through heavy use. Each end of our three hoses has a quick connect (so two per hose). Plus, the Dramm 300 shut off valve on each tasking end of the hoses. Every hose attachment gets a male end quick connect (sprinklers, watering timers, watering wands, single task hose nozzles, etc). It is no longer a task to do any water work, all seemless. Taking the hoses in for winter storage is a breeze! This is the third season and I recommend them.

I have a suggestion. The hose reel that you mounted on the fence post is carrying a lot of weight and will ultimately be difficult for that fence post to support, especially in windy situations. Place at least one brace on that fence post to help off set the weight of that hose reel.

Thanks! I’ll have took up fence post braces. I don’t know what that means but I think it’s a great tip!

Are you using 3/4 or 5/8? And did you need the extension for the reel?

try using buried 3/4" PEX with shark bite copper risers (with winter drain valves at the base) and as a feed for your hose systems.

It's kind of a shame that they (Eley) apparently used to be made here but now production has shifted to China
    Family owned business too.
I try to buy USA made whenever possible

Here in the UK I only use Hozelock which are British made hose and fittings, its not the cheapest but they sure last I still have my original from 26 years and its had some abuse. I have just bought another which has a 25 year warranty the Hozelock ultimate very good hoses indeed 👍🏻

Love this hose reel. Gonna have to get one. Brass is best for all connections. For the very best of the best quick connects and shut offs check Dramm. Look for dramm 400 and 740 🤙🏻

That flexzilla hose reel looks strikingly similar to what's called a Power Port Products auto rewind hose reel. The model numbers I'm familiar with are an HR 5012 or an HR 5038 series 2 . In my opinion, these are the best auto rewind hose reels in the world. The side plates that hold that flexzilla reel together and even the output in the front of it are strikingly similar to the Power Port Products Incorporated reels. I wonder if Power Port Products actually makes the Flexzilla hose reel, which in my opinion would make it one of the best auto rewind hose reels that you can buy.
