    It's hard to be "well traveled" you travel 14 hours in the states and you're in basically the same exact place with the same sort of people that you just left. In Europe you travel 14 hours you will cross multiple borders and cultures. Illinois is bigger than England, that's just one state out of 50.

    I hate when Europeans say Americans never travel to other countries and stuff like that. They never consider the fact that Europe is a bunch of small countries packed together and that are (generally) easy to travel to by train or car etc. The United States is so enormous and could only possibly drive to Canada or Mexico, in some ways two different states within the US could be so vastly different that it is in a way experiencing another culture, because we are a nation full of diverse people making up diverse states. So for instance, in order to see another country that is NOT Mexico or Canada, we have to take a minimum of an 8 + hour flight to South America, or Europe, or like a 14 hr flight to South Africa. So I want to ask Europeans sometimes when the last time they visited countries outside of Europe... when's the last time they've gone to China or Venezuela or Brazil? See its different when you must travel such vast distances. I've been to every state in the US and Canada and Mexico, most Americans have been to most states and the 2 that we can get to easily. When I was 16+ was when I finally went to jamaica and then europe finally. It's not that we don't like to travel and not interested in other cultures, it's just not as easy as Europeans are used to.

      Adam Korkmaz you normally see the states in your area like I live in South Carolina and I saw all the states on the East Coast from Florida all the way up to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Now that I live in Ohio I've been to Michigan Indiana Kentucky Pennsylvania you really see the states in the area of the country you live in. If you're able to drive you may see more States. So if I lived in California I would probably see Oregon Washington New Mexico Nevada Arizona. If I lived in Kansas I may see Nebraska Oklahoma Missouri Texas Colorado Wyoming. it's really just in the area of the country you live in and the states surrounding it because if you go from coast to coast it's about 3000 miles if you lived in Hawaii you have to fly to California. If you're in Alaska you have to fly or drive down to Washington and you have to go through Canada. The only two countries we can drive to is Canada Mexico and then we would have to fly to the state of Hawaii. Most Europeans don't realize that the state of South Carolina is probably the size of Belgium the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Alaska is probably the size of Europe cuz Alaska is the biggest state. It's just most Europeans don't realize that. If you're lucky you get to see all the states in America or most of the states. but yeah he's right every single state has a different culture. I've lived in South Carolina and Ohio and the two states are way different. Different food different people different Traditions different weather different state monuments everything is really different except it's in America.

      Firstly these are stereotypes, not necessarily what we believe to be true. I wouldn't say that Americans are stupid, although there are undoubtedly stupid people there but that is the same the world over.
      Also it's arguable that being intelligent is not the same as being educated. There are multiple kinds of intelligence, not all of them relating to academics. A good education helps and improves a country's quality of life overall by a huge margin, but it isn't the sole mark of what makes an individual or even a nation as a whole intelligent.

    • @Isabel-cm7vj
      @Isabel-cm7vj Před 3 lety +3

      I reckon it usually comes from how there is such a big contrast between the intelligent and the ignorant and the ignorant tend to be loud. They are called stereotypes for a reason and most don't actually believe them. Not to mention, they are fucking expensive and full of international students and a lot of the research facilities would collapse if international students were taken out. The USA is a rich country and Ivy league schools have the name,money and facilities which attract foreign students. If you look at the Ivy Leagues, rich people tend to there or people with a known name. For moneys worth, you get great Uni but the majority of Americans won't go to Ivy league schools so that point is invalid. The university loves to show off its current students to alumni either through galas, newsletters, open houses, or whatever event that gets the alumni to be in front of current students and feel proud of the university for "producing such great young people."
      This means that, in order to reduce risk and find the best possible candidates who meet these requirements, the universities don't select people that they think will get much out of the school. They select those who will be great with or without the school -- and then will take at least partial credit for their later-on greatness. Nassim Taleb calls this "teaching birds how to fly. Ivy league Uni/ colleges can not be a representative for the entire country. If you look at the courses and the schools, there isn't a crazy difference than other good colleges or Unis in different countries so a lot of the glory is the name and the prestige attached to them.

    It’s so hard lump Americans into one category. The average state is the size of England. You have so many cultures that’s why each state use to be more independent only held together by the union. Much like all the Eastern European countries that made up the Soviet Union. All different cultures and climates. And the guy is definitely right about the constant consumption. That’s how you end up with a booming economy. Convince people to constantly spend money. Mostly food. Makes a country very rich and very overweight.

    Tipping is a thing in America because the cheap ass restaurant owners pay their staff less then minimum wage and most people can't survive.

    • @jenniegem5338
      @jenniegem5338 Před 6 lety +27

      Joe's Crab Shack changed their wages for waitress/waiters for a minute. Instead of people tipping the servers, they paid them $13 an hour. They thought it would be good for the customers (cheaper-no tip) and good for the restaurant (easier to get people to work the slow days) and that the servers would be happy making a steady wage. Yeah, it didn't last long. Most servers make more than $13 an hour with their tips. Customers were not getting as good service as before. Customers like me thought it was unfair that a crappy server make the same amount as someone who was good. Joe's (smartly) went back to the old system of lower wages wages and tips

    Ok this is my idea of British people as an American who has visited England and has had British friends. (1) Have a cold and stiff personality at first until you get to know them. Not very warm/friendly/outgoing until they are comfortable with you. (2) Great sense of humor, they don't really care about "offending" anyone with comedy. (3) Bland, flavorless food, but really great beer. (4) Really really like tea. (5) Kinda have a superiority complex but I think almost every "major power" country tends to have this problem. (6) Very polite and formal

      There is no freedom under Babylonian Rome's rule. You do not understand that the US is a corporation of the crown. You are a slave by your 'birth' certificate with your name in capital letters. You register with the state, you are owned by the state. If anything, 'Americans' are less free because they are so clueless about truth. Have you never questioned the Masonic layout of Washington D.C? The obelisk/penis as the Washington Monument? The Masonic pentagram stars on the flag? The Egyptian red, white and blue crown colours on our flags? Freemasonry is rife in the US. Until you wake up from your stupor, you cannot be free.

Just curious because that seems to be sort of a harsh stereotype to give considering based on global statistics, the british aren't too bright themselves AND their population is quite smaller than the USA's. With around 300 million people in America and only around 60 million people in Britain, it hardly seems fair to condemn a mass who outnumber you 5 to 1 as simply stupid??? I'm genuinely curious! :)

Fact is the French are as clean as any other Nation, the Brits have excellent teeth {they just don't bleach them} and Americans are no dumber than any other country. I think the stereotype comes from the old American exceptionalism and a perceived lack of worldly knowledge that, like the teeth thing, may have held some truth in the past but is no longer true.

      @Rosida Andriyana So the news you get from EXTERNAL news outlets and not even learning about history/facts on america, you continue to not just insult a singular person but the entire populous of America, calling us racist for what? Border protection and the deportion of ILLEGAL immigrants no matter the race/sex/age. The increase of security is due to prevent terrorist attacks (Which still continue) after 9/11, you know... the tragedy where a COMMERCIAL plane crashed into the WTC? ON the place of a singular yet hopeful american, I am sorry for any insults or whover or whatever hurt you.
      P.S If you want an insight of what's really going on in America, ill try to let biases and opinions out of any discussions.
      Please take no offense in any of this as I meant no harm
