I saw the Exorcist at 10 with my family . Oh the 70’s.
That's wild lol.
The 70's was prime time for arthouse/gritty cinema. Just one banger after another.
"The crispy wing arm??? Satan offers a better healthcare plan. He heals this young man." That took me tf out!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yessssss! And off cuff!!! Brilliant ❤❤❤😂😂😂
The Exorcist is a masterpiece.
Joseph, I too went to UNLV, but after you. Remember how the campus would smell like manure when the bull riders were in town? Anyway, 2pac was shot at the corner of Flamingo and Koval. That intersection will be forever infamous.
Fun fact the nurse/assistant to the left of that woman with that That Girl flip with the beard 10148 was a serial killer Paul Battison he was an actual assistant. That's what makes this movie great its kinda like a documentary and you get to know the characters & when possible Friedkin used people in the know. Also Shirley McLain and Audrey Hepburn and Jane Fonda was what W.B. wanted Friedkin to consider & he said no imagine Hepburn in that role LICK ME! LICK ME slap 😅the rain would have fell in Spain that day.cant wait for believer reviews I'm seeing it on the 5th. Also what is fish jelly? Or do I want 2 know 😂
I was 9 years old when the movie came out, and even the TV, radio, and news paper ads terrified me. I finally saw an edited version on TV in 1980 at 16, and I had to sleep with the lights on that night. I’ve now so many times I know the dialogue. I just went on Sunday to a 50th anniversary screening of the new 4k version. It looked amazing to me, don’t know why so many folks are complaining. I saw it in Georgetown, minutes away from those infamous stairs and the house. Detective Kinderman did not find the Pazuzu head at the bottom of the stairs, that was one of Reagan’s little clay art pieces that fell when she pushed Burke out the window.
I saw The Exorcist when I was 9. I stayed up late one Friday night to watch it on HBO, and I swear, I didn't sleep for a week. And I got in trouble! So Nick is totally right about it scaring a generation. I grew up in the church, so I actually believed there was a devil. LOL. But it does hit different as an adult who is now an atheist.
Had to jump on here and say I watched
Poison for Faries! Creepy AF
Thanks for the recommendation Nick
Yay!
"His face changes...which actually looks good for 1973!" Thanks, that's a great way of describing it!🤨😅 🤣That's how it'll 'crack me up' *if ever* for some weird reason, I'd watch this movie! 😅
The problem with all other Exorcist films…. they never touch the greatness of the original… they always duplicate what already done right… this new one… it doesn’t have Linda… so,what do,they do to up the score… two kids both possessed … dueling demons…SSSTTTOOOPPP! Can’t wait for review…
In The Exorcist, Father Karras’s mom wasn’t senile she was just old and living alone in NYC, while Karras lived and worked in DC. If I remember correctly, she fell asleep and a fire started in her apartment, so she was sent to a metal institution. Karras was in DC, so his brother sent her to a crap facility.
Karras invited the demon Pazuzu into his body, to rid Regan of it. In a quick moment where he was able to regain control of his possession, he threw himself out the window to kill the demon’s new host.
I was yelling Shock Jock at the screen lol.
This episode had me crying 😂😂😂. Joseph breaking down The Exorcist and insisting that Reagan should be arrested was not only hilarious but made me question how I had watched the film without wondering the same thing!!!😂
I dont know if u guys r aware of this or not but there are so many weird and creepy things that occured during the making of this film. Multiple crew members killed, an extra in the movie became a serial killer, unexplained fires, planes getting struck by lightning etc... Definitely one of the most cursed films of all time! Its a fun little rabbit hole to go down if u guys r bored one night lol.
The poltergeist series too!
I love when y’all put these up!
Like vs just on Spotify - I am a CZcams girly
Woah I'm so excited to listen to this!
JFK is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. The editing and cinematography are amazing. So much information is given at such breakneck speed. Watches like a thriller. Incredibly watchable!
John Candy was so good in the scenes he had.
Love y'all's banters. Have to make a list of films to watch based on the ones you've reviewed w spoilers so I can actually watch them lol
I bet that dude never thought he was gonna get arrested for anything. It’s amazing they are actually doing anything about it.
Way back in the day my gaggle of friends were all catholic. We smoked ourselves up and saw this movie on opening night.
It scared me good but my catholic friends were petrified! When they all got to their homes they turned all of their lights on for the rest of the night 😂😂😂.
It's so interesting how this film had such a strong social/psychological effect on people when it was released
The demon did not kill Father Merrin, he had been at death's door with a bad heart for quite a while (you can see him almost have a heart attack in the opening sequence). His heart simply gave out during the exorcism. The demon was actually pissed off in the novel at Merrin for "quitting" before the fight was over. Father Damien's sacrifice both freed Regan and denied Pazuzu a host body, banishing it back to Hell.
🤣Joseph, "Reagan has to go to trial". That was so funny!
This was a great episode guys. The exorcist might be my favourite of all time. They could make a movie about all the behind the scenes incidents that happened, like the Offer for the god father. Friedkin got away with so much shit you would be fired for today ( firing guns next to people, lying to the cast etc). Can’t say I would change anything about this movie, a 5/5 for me.
Please don’t subject yourselves to exorcist 2 😂. Just watch part 3!
Yeah, didn't he slap the shit out of the Priest/Actor giving Damien his last rites? I think I saw that somewhere.
@@jenniferbaumgarden9293 Yeah, slapped the priest to get a better reaction for Karras’ death, shot a gun or starter pistol off next to someone to get a better reaction, told the stunt guys to really yank on the mothers rope when she gets slapped, and it goes on. Crazy.
I think Father Dimmi jumped out of the window himself to put an end to the demon. Love this movie, can't wait for the new one!
You two are adorable.
The Exorcist is a masterpiece in atmosphere and tension. The acting is incredible.
Mami Wata are African water deities not sure how well the film would be but pretty cool to see more African lore being represented. I always enjoy hearing about you guys movie reviews since you mention many other people don't. I'm The crow in my Icon picture The crow was a comic from the 80's by James O'barr The reason the first film is the best cus the original comic book artist had a huge hand in it. All the Other The Crow Movies are known for being terrible by fans of the film and comics.
I love “P2.” And watch it every Xmas. I love badass women films! A nice break from typical horror movies where women are butchered and tortured for entertainment. But yeah, great movie
Omg you two are so cute! Great energy! Ok let me actually listen to the rest of this video!
Pazuzu(only the main movie not the second and other horrible ones) is my favorite character ,as a queer atheist from middle east they resonate so much with me :)
This movie traumatized me as a child I remember it used to come on all the time around the time before church was over and my dad used to put it in inside my grandmas house with the tv full blast. Even now as adult I do want to watch it to get over my fear but my husband won’t let me and believes spirits will come through
Hi! I love Poison for the Fairies! Have you seen The Other 1972?
Max Von Sydow was so wonderful, especially in The Seventh Seal, which I highly recommend. I'm also a big fan of The Exorcist 3 (on tubi now for anyone interested) with Brad Dourif who gives an incredible performance. It was pretty much the real sequel to the original. Not only that but both The Exorcist and E3 have ties to true crime (Paul Bateson & Dahmer) the first individual inspiring Friedkin's Cruising. The Omen had its share of bad luck as well. Thank you guys.
Burke was diddling Regan, and Pazuzu is also a protector of children. She broke his neck around and defenestrated him. Later, we hear Burke's voice through Regan, repeating the British curse "cunting", and demonstrating what she did to kill him (head turns around). He was a truly evil person (go figure, Hollywood) that Chris let into her home. Actually a sad story that at first makes the possessed or abused (?) theme more ambiguous. An abused child would certainly urinate on the carpet or bed and say awful things for attention to her plight.
52:20 Friedkin still gagging us from the grave lol
KInderman finds Regan's clay sculpture at the bottom of the stairs. It fell off the window seat when she killed Burke.
No, no, no. The thing that Detective Kinderman finds at the base of the stairs is a clay figure that Reagan made. It's not the figurine of Pazuzu from the opening scene. Later in the scene where he's questioning Ellen Burstyn in the kitchen, he finds an other figurine made with the same clay and asks her if Reagan is the artist. So, he is making a connection with her or someone in the house to the base of the steps. Perhaps Burke had it in his hands when he went up to Reagan's bedroom before she twisted his head around and threw him out the window.
I remember the exorcist scared the 💩 out of me as a kid, but now, being older, I don’t think the film has aged very well at all.
Friedkin’s better horror film is 2006’s “BUG.” Now that is Terrifying and brutal. The acting was incredible. It’s sooooo damn good!!!!!
I totally agree with you.
you're crazy! i don't know about Bug but The Exorcist still gives me the heebie jeebies. even those dated jump scares that are just devil faces make me pull the covers up to my chin
Thanks!
Thank you!
Haha so this Tupac killer guy forgot that u can only write an IF I DID IT book if you've already won the criminal trial like OJ
What kind of Animal is that the Exorcist still scared the hell out of me you close your eyes you see her very well movie.
I always thought Father Karras jumped out of the window to kill himself and thus stop the possession. I haven't seen this since I was in college back in the late 1980s.
So glad you reviewed the Exorcist and your humor was cracking me up. That movie totally traumatized me as a child. I have not been able to see it again, but your review was the next best thing! And thanks so much for reviewing horror movies for the month of October! I love horror movies and Halloween, you guys are the best!
I love Quo Vadis Aida, my favorite movie of 2020 ❤
It's killing me with curiosity to know what in the world was Joseph drinking?from the tallest can I've ever seen🤔Great Podcast guys

@@fishjellyfilmreviews Thanks I'm going to buy myself some 🥰
I am so appreciative that you gave Tupac his due praise because I also thought he was a talented actor.
It’s always interesting to see americans react to how much the hospital care would cost, all those doctors. Nobody in the rest of the world thought about that, or is thinking about it watching the movie again all these years later. I have never seen anybody mentioning it. And another thing - when examining Regan and the blood comes squirting out from her throat/neck - that’s were people were fainting back then. The “Spider Walk” was cut out because the wires were visible and it also didn’t work dramatically. The original is better than the “Directors Cut”.
Hey guys! I'm so glad I found your channel!
Hey yall 👋
The crow 2 has grown on me
When this movie came out I was 5yrs old, my maiden name is McNeal and based on a true story...so this move has and still is traumatizing...I tried to watch the trailer as an adult it btings me right back to the same feeling....so on that nite I just came to make a comment not sticking around...bye
Shock jock. Howard stern
french connection was before the exorcist
And how about that loud a$$ knocking in the attic and Ellyn Burnstyn said it was "rats!" Also I always thought Damien said "Take me" because he knows that will be the only way to free Regan. And then he jumps out the window (of his own free will - you see his face change back to himself for a second) to destroy the demon. Also I saw it at age 12 in the theater (I'm old) with my mom. She explained it plus I read the book, brought it to school and a nun snatched it away from me and threw it in the waste basket and put the wastebasket in the hallway. (Catholic school)
Thanks! 📽🍿🍫🥤🎫
Thank you!
The reason the young priest wanted the demon to enter him was to trick it because he planned to commit suicide with the demon in him and that action would send the demon to Hell. Because the demon needs to have a host to inhabit and if it can not find one soon enough after one of the hosts dies then it has no place to go but Hell
I love bread is Oprah for weight watchers commercial
That’s right!
Out of curiosity; I know Joseph doesn't believe in ghosts & demons but how about Nicholas? For me I think quantum physics and the strange and unknown features of the quantum realm might account for true paranormal events in some cases sans a real actual spiritual element. Or perhaps spirits utilize aspects of the quantum realm to manipulate our reality in some way. Anyhow just curious about the beliefs you hold on some of these things. As always your uploads are entertaining & informative!
Cocaine is a hell of a drug the Rick James thing 😅
Not coming for Reagen.
Don't watch The Heretic 3 is good
I’m like you Joseph, I don’t believe in all that demon stuff so a lot of horror, especially American horror, can get a little repetitive. But. This film truly stands on its own, the way that Alien is more than just a genre movie (to me!). I love how sassy Pazuzu is lol
