- The Sivga Robin SV021 Headphone adds it's own flair to your music, and allows people on a budget to enjoy something unique. The Robin is incredibly comfortable and the real rosewood ear cups are an amazing treat at this price. So how does it sound?

Great review! I think you really nailed what the SV021 does better than any other review I've seen. I use mine with a fairly high powered digital audio player using its balanced 4.4mm connection, and the combination of high current and the Robin's high sensitivity really wakes the cans up and brings out their potential--maybe that last 10-20% you were talking about but it's significant.
When I first got them I was blown away by what they could do with well-recorded jazz trio music, especially how you could hear the acoustic bass resonance and and natural piano sound. As I've listened to more and more music, electronic jazz/funk/R&B is a treat too, as the clean, deep bass and generally balanced signature and good soundstage, results in really bringing a lot of pleasure to well-recorded/mixed music. Truly, the better the engineering, you can really hear it with these headphones!
It's not for everything, but it's a great set to have (for not much $) for those times that you want to feel the music in a way that is very unique. Some of the jazz/funk/R&B musicians that sound great on them are Moonchild, Hemai, Kaidi Tatham, Theo Croker and many more. Not to mention tons of ECM trio stuff, solo acoustic guitar or lute (the Robin seems to love period instruments) and solo double bass. You just never know what these cans will find nuance-wise with any given recording!
Thanks for the insight Tee! I think you nailed it with your description. I enjoy the Robins so much!
You both are on point. I've had the Sivga for about a week and really enjoy them.
Almost missed this on my radar for a closed back headphone. You have convinced me to go for this. Thank you.
You're welcome!
How ya liking it
I encountered your channel recently and your headphones reviews are very enjoyable. Very interesting thought on excessive bass helping "recreate the room" in case of grand piano.
The hint on Jazz and Pianos got me - thx!
Great review. Right amount of details and tangible sound specs description. Well done. Just discovered your channel. Subscribed!
You can pick up replacement ear cups on Amazon for most Sivga headphones. Great review by the way. I have had a pair of the SV021's for about a year now. Love them.
yeah I think they were released right after I filmed this! They are great headphones indeed
Unfortunately, 99.9% of people will not ever know about these headphones. Been through lots of them for years and I never did. So incredibly comfortable, very good isolation for $150 closed backs and I really like the way the brown looks. Sound, well I really like them and I have some cans that are quite expensive. I am using a dragonfly with camera adaptor to an iPhone listening to tidal MQA. Wow for the money spent. Thanks for the review.
First... Excellent Review, Never heard of Sivga Robin. Awesome review brotha as always.
Thanks so much!
Nice review. I own these and the 'microphonics' on the cable are way worse than i expected. I've been looking at replacing it, but disappointing that I have to. Minor complaint is that the head band doesn't spread the load - it touches your head in one spot which is mildly uncomfortable.
Yeah at this price range there will always be a couple more areas of improvement. The microphonics can be an issue on a lot of headphones, especially with fabric cords.
New subscriber here! I first saw your Schiit Hel 2 video. Dude to me you look like Nicky Katt (younger version) keep up the great work!
Haha thanks! I’ve seen that comment more than once lol. Appreciate the support Raydiate!
I like these more than the TH900 as a bassy, wooden closed back. Those were too harsh in treble. One tenth the price.
They look decent but that colour way does nothing for me. Would like to give them a listen just to say i've tried them out. Great in depth video as always Joe.
Thanks for the video, great as usual. Would you expect this unit to improve with a dac/amp?
Thanks! It depends on what your original source is. My Gigibyte X570 sounded worse than my Apple DAC for example. For PC, the ifi Zen DAC air for $100 all in was all it needed.
sorry to comment off the topic, but you are the guy! please review the new generation of steelseries headset xbox and pc please!!! they looks so good and we all will wait for your perfect review. btw thanks for the epos h6 you made me buy 😂
If it helps, he already did a review for the Arctis Nova Pro (wireless) a while ago, it may be helpful as a reference and comparison with the rest of the lineup that was released yesterday.
SteelSeries won’t even email me to tell me the headsets came out, never mind send them for review. I had to purchase all of them which means it’s going to be a week or so. I’ll try my best to release the review in a timely manner for you
Hi!! I have a cheap old and cheap Senhheiser headphones (it cost around 70-80) which I use with a Dragonfly DAC to listen some FLAC music. I'm interested in buying a new ones and this Sivga seems pretty cool for the range of price I can afford. Would you recommend them as unique headphones for everyday (CZcams, music, computer games...)?? Thank you very much!!
I would. They’re amazing for everything I’ve tried. Even acoustic
if someone has a question about a headset in particular where should i write?
i wnated to ask how muhc better audeze penrose sound compared to steelseries Arctis nova pro wirless?
Penrose has much better mid range and more detail retrieval. I also like the bass more on the Penrose. They both have some treble issues but after each are tuned, both can sound nice. Penrose has a strong clamp force, whereas the Nova Pro Wireless is lighter and more comfortable. However, there are bumps inside the ear cups for the ANC microphones, and those bother some people as it can touch your ears. Both are good, and both have quirks!
@@GadgetryTech thank you very much for the reply
you have any idea why my sivga robins rattle?
Mine don’t. Have yours always rattled?
New steelseries headphones soon ?
Yes the Nova Wired is coming
Nova Pro Wired and Nova 7 reviews are now live. Nova 1 and 3 reviews are coming out soon (this week).
the bass is too boomy on these for my liking. not bad for the price though
