Out of all the brownie mug recipes I’ve tried, this is definitely the best one. I never comment on baking channels, but I had to comment on this one because it’s soooooo good. I didn’t add any chocolate chips and it still taste absolutely amazing
This recipe sucks. Try the ones with an egg yolk added. The egg gives it more texture and flavor.

Sometimes I’ve added orange extract instead of vanilla or added a peanut butter cup to the middle for something different 😬
Written receipe
3 Tbs flour
3 Tbs sugar
3 Tbs cocoa powder
Pinch of salt
3 Tbs milk (I'm using oatmilk)
2 1/2 Tbs oil (I use coconut)
Vanilla extract
microwave 1 minute (give or take)
Was coconut oil good ?

- 3 tbs sugar
-3 tbs cocoa powder
- pinch of salt
Mix those together
-3 tbs milk
-2 and 1/2 tbs of vegetable oil
- 1/4 tbs vanilla
Mix together
Add choco chips or extras
Microwave for 1 min on high

This is honestly such a good cake, i made it without the chocolate chips and it came out almost like a fudgy lava cake, i left the middle a little more "raw" and im glad i did

I never write comments on videos but this time is different because this is the ONLY recipe that has ever worked for me, I’ve tried about 13 recipes and all of them tasted horrible or were super raw or the texture was just really rubbery and this was neither of them! It was sooo good and fudgy and I’m obsessed all day all I could think about was making this again, thank you for this recipe!!

Made this tonight and I’m in trouble. This was way too good to be from a microwave. I didn’t have milk so I subbed one tablespoon coffee and 2 tablespoons water and it still turned out incredible. Very rich and moist. Vanilla ice cream is a must. It compliments the brownie perfectly.

I absolutely love the recipe, I've tried many mug cake recipes but this one turned out really amazing, I added little bit of baking powder and baking soda and believe me it's better than any other. Fancy cakes/brownies

I don't have a microwave oven so I preheated my regular oven to 350 F. Then I mixed all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. I greased a small casserole dish and put the batter into the dish. I put the brownies into my oven and set the timer for 20 minutes. I will check on them after 15 minutes though. These days, I keep ice cream in the freezer because you never know when you are going to need some. Thanks for the recipe, John. You are the best!!!

Whatever I make a mug cake recipe it’s always too rubbery and not that great but I tried this recipe and it is absolutely amazing so flaky and soft!! Love it!
Was it sweet at all? I’ve noticed whenever I make mug cakes its either always tastes bitter from the cocoa powder or it’s dry

Definitely add another tablespoon of sugar (I like to use brown sugar) if you plan to skip the chocolate chips. But if you’re using the chips, I really do find the 3 tablespoons of sugar is sweet enough.

This recipe is amazing. It’s 12 am and I was craving a snack so I made this and it turned out great. I didn’t have chocolate chips so I used chocolate sprinkles instead.
I just made this, except I used less than one tablespoon of sugar, less oil, more milk ('cause I used expired japanese bread house 🫠).... and i forgot to add vanilla extract... IT TASTED SO GOOD TYSM I AM DEFINITELY MAKING THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!

I just made this a little bit ago, it’s pretty good. It doesn’t taste like the brownies you will make in the oven but it tastes like one of the brownies you will get in those hungry man meals, if you know what that tastes like and you like it then you will like this.
Thank you so much for this! I am in love with how easy this recipe is to memorize and you’re right, it is dangerous! I was having an uncontrollable craving for chocolate cake and I found this and it came together so quickly and easily. It was exactly what I was looking for and satisfied my craving perfectly. I used some melted vegan butter instead of vegetable oil and I had some vegan chocolate chips in the fridge, I used oat milk instead of regular milk, so I absolutely love the fact that it was so incredibly easy to make vegan with simple ingredients that I already had on hand. All the stars!!

I made this tonight and it was easy and delicious. I did make one change and only used 2 1/2 tablespoons of cocoa as I don't like bitter chocolate and I was nervous about using the full amount. I was glad I did, it was perfect for me and still very rich. The ice cream on top is a must.

I made this recipe with gluten free flour, sans the chocolate chips and with a little more cocoa and it was still lovely! I've made this with several different brands of gluten free flour so far and all have turned out wonderfully well so, if there are any people who want a gf mug brownie, this is the recipe for you! I simply substituted the regular flour for gf flour so it's not a difficult transition. When I've made this for other people, apart from the gf flour substitution and guaranteed gf chocolate chips, I've adhered to your recipe and everyone who's tried it has loved it!
As always, your recipes always turn out well for me and this, and your lemon bar recipe, once again, substituting gf flour, are now regular favourites in my repertoire. I love your clear, calm, easy to follow and extremely enjoyable presentations and always enjoy watching, and making, your reliable recipes.

Whenever we eat at Applebees, we love the Brownie Bites, because it's just enough sweetness to end the meal. I make this brownie in a cup, and divide it in half and put a small dollop of ice cream on it. Love it, and it''s so quick, plus we don;t have a whole panful of brownies that tempt me. This was the first Preppy KItchen recipe that I saw.
This is my favorite thing to make as a chocolate treat if I'm really feeling depraved of chocolate since I really can't do dairy anymore. So that being said I can't wait to try your version out.
Suggestion for a recipe I'd love to see: a savoury soufflé you can make in the microwave, or savoury mug cake. I used to love savoury muffins but physical challenges mean I can't use an oven so I'd love something I can make in the microwave.
