- That actress Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha the shield maiden in the show, performed many of her own stunts in the popular series? Vikings is a grizzly and harrowing depiction of Scandinavian warriors and it goes without saying that many of the show’s actors had to get into extreme physical shape before playing their vicious characters. This was not the case for Katheryn Winnick though, who prior to starring in the popular series was already a fully-fledged martial artist. The actress holds a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second-degree black belt in Karate as well as being a fully licenses security guard. Naturally, performing her own stunts in the show was not an issue for the multi-talented actress.
