For everyone wondering if this is a good show, it is. I was skeptical at first but after watching the first episode, I was hooked. I would definitely suggest watching it.
The saga of Ragnar Lothbrook (Lodbrog) was written by Saxo Grammaticus in the 1200s. Even though Ragnar is a fictional character, many of the described events actually took place in the 7th century (the 800s). Saxo's main source of inspiration for Ragnar most likely came from the actual viking king Godfred, who did in fact invade Paris. Shieldmaidens existed, and highborn women similar to Lagertha often had to be able to fight - maybe to earn people's respect. King Ecbert did in fact become the first king of England in 829, and Ethelwulf succeeded him about 10 years later. And the Danes did in fact colonize East Anglia during that period, and unlike their Anglo Saxon countrymen the Danes weren't Christians. That must have caused a lot of tension. All in all I think this 3rd season of "Vikings" was not only entertaining, it was also more ambitious than previous seasons - historically and culturally speaking. There was less "soapy" intrigue and more focus on historical drama and cultural clashes. This show now has a real purpose: To help us understand "the Dark Medieval Ages" a little better. Maybe they weren't as dark as we thought they were.
Can we please start pulling for this woman to play Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers). She's badass, plays a strong female role in vikings, the right age, knows martial arts, and super hot. What else do you want internet?
It's fucking bril. In fact if it weren't for Arya Stark's story line and Peter Dinklage id say Vikings is better. Plus it's all based in actual history, not some old guy's imagination.
I have never watched GoT but this is the best show I have ever watched....I liked it right from the start even though some people say it gets better in season 2.
