  • This video shows how I changed the transmission fluid in a 2013 ML350 Bluetec. I didn't drain the torque converter since it was a bit difficult to remove the auxiliary pump to access the drain plug.
    I also didn't exactly follow the fill process since it seems too much fluid was draining out. I made sure the same amount of fluid was put back in.

    So I did some research on the pump in the video because I was about to spend 197.00 on a gadget to fill up my transmission (I worked in MB shop for 2 years and was spoiled with all the gear).
    I believe that the gentleman is using a Slippery Pete fluid pump that comes in two sizes. Quart 12.99 Gallon 15.99.
    Yes you have to pump a lot to get the fluid in (depending on what fluids you are changing) but I do not change my transmission or differential oil all that often, so yes I will have to pump a whole lot about every 5 years...I call that exercise and believe me, this woman can use all the exercise she can get!
    I am so glad I found this video because now I am not spending 200.00 on a gadget that I can only use for transmission fluid (MB blue), whereas that pump can be easily cleaned and used on other fluids.

      Hi Ken, may i know how you check the correct spec fluid? I think i have the same model year as your car but my search came up with mb 236.14 as the fluid which is red. The fluid in your video is blue which is mb 236.15.

      @nixrides8775 hi, the 7 speed 722.9 gear box for cars from 2010 uses 326.15 according to the dealer where I got the fluid from. The 326.14 is for pre 2010 722.9.

    I guess the torque convertor should be drained out, as well! There is an opening in the transmission bell housing to complete this. It's a 2 man job actually, since you have to turn the engine to locate the converter drain plug.

      WIS says that a total there is a total of 9l liters in the 7g+ transmission. I did this on my w166 yesterday and used 9l of fluid meanwhile I removed even the pump and had access to the torque converter from which roughly 3l of tranny fluid came out.

    Hi are these icarsoft scanners best for a Mercedes ml w166 and do they do the job of finding all faults? As I seem to have an air suspension problem as car stuck in up position and does not lower when pressing airmatic button in the car

      hi, this scanner won't be as good as the ones used by mercedes or independent mechanic. I know this because my mechanic's scanner showed my airmatic needed recalibration when my scanner didn't. after the recalibration the car actually drives better.

    • @ad166bt
      @ad166bt Před 9 měsíci +1

      Absolutely not. Do not mix as these fluids are different spec. To find the correct fluid use a free vin decoder and if you have the option A89 in the spec sheet then you should use the blue fluid with spec MB 236.15 if not your car has the regular 7g tranny and you should use the red fluid MB 235.14.
