I have the ugly stick GX 2 medium havey spinning rod with a 5000 spinning reel and I don't get tiered on holding it I love my ugly stick spinning rod
I just got the ice fishing GX2 rod and the Dock runner I don't see the difference between the two so I went and got a GX2 medium power rod 5'10" is my favorite on so far. The carbon rod brake the tips off to easy I don't say that's a winner for me. Strong like the GX2 my friend was not happy with that one.
I just got a GX2 from Cabela's and it has a UGLY Stick GX2 size 50 reel not Shakespeare reel or say it on the Pole. And got a Ugly tuff reel size 40 like the reel. Can't complain about heavy ness if the other reels are not all Aluminum and the strongest reel I use in years. Is not a toy at all the Ugly tuff 40 reel I don't like the reverse I'll glue it so it does move in reverse. What is it for .... Don't need it for nothing.
Kinda making me want the rod and reel combo. This would be my first “real” fishing rod because I’m currently using 1 spincast rod and reel that’s like 20$ and I now have a kayak for fishing

omg heck yes! i did notice they released an inshore focused one but still nowhere near that length.
I bought the carbon 6'6" combo when it came out a couple years back, it came with the Abu Garcia black max real, the real is ok, but the rod is excellent for the money. I gave my gx2 away after fishing with my carbon a few times, I never paid attention to how heavy and clunky the gx2s are until I got the carbon.
I have a abu revo sx rkt on a gx2... 🤣 🤣 🤣

Your opinion on theCarbon's balance sure differs from my own observations when fishing this model. I found my 7ft. 3 in blank to be noticeable tip heavy.

Me to ugly sticks are great dad has 14 of them from ultra lite to heavy
I really like Ugly Stiks, but carbon model was a disappointment. The big problem is the guides. One guides epoxy coating didn't cover all of the thread. The second eye also had a poor coating. I actually mixed up some epoxy and recoated the eyes.
Going to order one soon. Right now I have a shimano Sahara paired with a gx2 but going to upgrade the rod and get a little 1500 spinning reel to pair with my gx2
I snapped the tip off of my first full graphite rod after 5 casts.

I read 7 year? I think 1 year applies to all shakespeare rods.
does braid ware out plastic spools?
i can't imagine it to do so. but it doesn't have the braid grip ring so i'm guessing they didn't have braid in mind. i don't know how good their 7 year warranty is but since they guarantee the reel for 7 years, i think there's little risk.

That particular gx2 is meant for catfish
I use my GX2 ugly stick medium heavy power rod and ugly tuff 40: reel for tiger musky fishing or northern pike fishing. Best one for big fish. My ugly catfish rod is a cat killer.
