Best rods for the money. No others even close.
I like the cork on the pole 🎣 that's why I got one because is just classic looking. UGLY Stick good job on keeping the old school look and strong as ever ☝🏼 in my book. My first one in the 80's for Christmas 🎁 and still have it with the Zebco 33 and still looks good.
Since I tend to trek through woods and brush to get to my spots, I switched to Ugly Stik many years ago. Never broke one yet! Great review....subbed!
Just got my Elite. 7ft medium pair with a penn fierce 3 on 12lb mono mainly for freshwater/bass. Reason I got the penn fierce 3 is for those days I may want to take it to the pier by the beach.
With everything going on in my life I have yet to put a hook in the water. Now that’s a shame. Family comes first for me. There will be plenty of time. Great review on a great rod. ❤️🌲❤️🌲❤️🌲
Absolutely family comes first, everything else is second including fishing lol. Yea I’ve been trying to wet lines as much as possible because next month the ease of fishing is going to change unfortunately.
You must love those Uglies. I don’t own an Elite but I do own a Lite Pro and GX2. I like both quite a bit. I am partial to cork handles so I like the Lite Pro just a little more. I paired both of them with that new Ozark Trail 3000 reel and I’ll tell what, it’s a perfect match.
The Uglies are definitely it my favorite, but as far as being able to get a good budget rod I think they do well, that’s why I like to do reviews on them. You know me my favorite stuff would probably e the Lews and Abu Stuff. I still need to check out some shimano and Diawa products I’m sure they would change my mind lol.
@@bluecollaroutdoors5556 I personally think Diawa and Shimano are over rated. I have owned both and they are not bad, but Lew’s is just as good and half the price.
@@Tightt88 Shimano gets the job done and it's reliable but the only way I would get one is if they seriously upgraded a rear drag spinning reel. I gotta have the features lol
🎣 this is what I've been looking for. I want to start fishing the river and I'm going to need a good Shakespeare ugly stick rod and reel spinning combo. Probably around the second week of July I may be going up to Cabela's to see what they have up there. I miss fishing for catfish, big perch and Bass. Never fist for bass before, I had always fished for trout. This is definitely a great review and I enjoyed it plus thanks for the information about the rod and reel combo 👍🏻👍🏻

Purchased two of these rods 2 years ago have used notging but mono. On them have all ready had to replace the tip eyes because of line grooving , this will be last 2 ugly stiks i purchase i am not looking foreward to having to replace other eyes later, the eyes are not tough in the eyes
That tip is a faster tip. Great for jigging walleye
Honestly I really like this rod besides the flexible but I’m keeping this for myself

Pretty late but loved the review and I might get this as my first fishing rod not sure but what reel did you use and if possible no pressure could you leave a link to it kinda have tough luck finding the specific items out of the thousands again loved the review!

What is best reel for this rod ?
This was one my favorite ultra light trout rod for a few years until 10 lb power pro braid wrecks the top eye. What a shame. I didn't notice for the first year, but after that my line was just getting chewed up too bad. Be warned if you plan to use braid with this rod.
I been running Berkeley 20lb braid on my 6ft medium 2pc Ugly Stik Elite for a little over two years now without any issue.. I was paranoid at first constantly checking for damage because I read others having your issue but my rod has held up to endless uses & I fish all year around its my main rod… I’m in Virginia so all spring & summer I fish for bass & sunfish and in the fall & winter I fish for trout.. If you have a receipt of purchase Ugly Stik has a 7 year warranty..

I'm looking at the Ugly Stik Elite Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rod, Medium/Heavy as I want to be able to fish from rainbow trout to salmon. Would that work? Will it be too heavy for trout?
It’s gonna be a bit overgunning it for the fish, but it would be perfect for salmon and pike

I bought a elite ugly stick fishing rod for my grandson for his birthday a few years ago the end section broke can I order just the second piece since rest of rod is perfect

Would you use it for live bait ? Or lure fishing ? Or an all around type of fishing rod ?
It’s good for just about all things bass fishing, trout, panfish. It’s not the best at everything but it can do most things.
Excellent for live bait and bottom fishing with braid- the excessively noodley tip makes detecting and seeing the LIGHTEST of bites super easy
Is it as durable as the GX2?
I’m new to fishing, what’s a good line to use in this combo ? Or does it always depends on what your fishing ?
You want to stick to mono or fluorocarbon. It has softer stainless steel guides so the top guide will groove if using braid. You really need ceramic guides to run braid.
If you want to use braid, the only braid I can recommend is fireline by Berkley, their super line is legitimately smoother than the rest of the pack and even smoother in some instances that the premium suffix 832 super line.

Braid most of the time will cast farther that mono and flouro because it is limper and thinner by the pound test compared to conventional lines. Plus it has excellent sensitivity under a tight line when using spoons and spinners
Do you notice a difference in sensitivity between one and two piece rods? Looking to get a new spinning rod for finesse fishing….. Ned rigs and drop shots.
Honestly I can’t tell much of a difference. I have several two piece rods from various manufacturers and one piece rods also and with the new style ferals where the pieces connect, there isn’t much of a difference.

I think it should be fine in saltwater because it has stainless steel components. Would rinse it off when you get home though.
