Glad to hear that you enjoy your XPS!
Thanks for all the advice, unfortunately I do not have the speakers anymore to try it out but it is good to know for the future.
Hi, thanks for watching the video! I used the speakers with my 2010 27 inch iMac. The static noise was always there when you turned them on at the back of the right speaker, regardless wether a audio source was connected or not. Besides that I did not do any tests to see what caused the issue though.
I honestly loved the design and audio quality, maybe it was just a faulty unit. I honestly do not know.
I got the same speakers. There is no static noise, they are completely silent when there is no sound.I use them with fruity loops and the sound is really detailed. They look and sound gr8!
Thank you for your comment! I have never heard of this. I doubt this might be the case since my iMac is standing on the same tabletop as the speakers. Or am I missing something?
Thanks for your review. It made me give up buying it for my home studio because of the static.
You are very welcome!
Thanks for watching.
If you're getting a constant hiss even with no input plugged in that's "self-noise" and is from the embedded amplifier(s). This tends to happen with all active speakers, not just this model, so if you really want a clean setup you should go for passive monitors + separate amp.
Great review!
thanks for the good video & review, i am going to buy the xps 2.0 60 dj monitor speakers, but i could only find the reviews for the 80, but its 10 watt more than the 60, so i know enough, thank you verry much!
Thank you!
Dude turn the treble down and youll see that the static noise goes away ;)
I'm also interested in these little puppies, but I'm puzzled at the static noise issue. Did you actually try to rule out any possible sources for the static noise, like unhooking any audio source from them and see if the noise is still there. What did you have them connected to? Did you use them on a PC/ Laptop? Am wondering if you'd use some audio transformers to physically disconnect the audio source from the speakers (maybe it's an impedance incompatibility issue)
Great review, anyway!
Another case for the noise might be a light dimer you may have if your line is not balanced. Of course, what I tell you is more like shooting in the dark but keep in mind that your mains might have noise introduced by some device in your home network.
nice kinda helped me out! I didt bought those speakers because you said there is some static noise! i really dont like that
nice review! i wanted to buy these, but now i have to look for something else!
The sound quality was good. The only issue I had was the static noise which appeared wether the speakers were plugged in or not so I do not think an external sound card can have any effect on that.
Can i use this as my computer speakers?
Can these speakers connect to another set of speakers using the RCA outputs? Such as a 5.1, 5 speakers along with a subwoofer.
TechCentury Maybe you tried this already but if you're getting noise you should try switching the input. The quarter inch XLR is a balanced line as opposed to the RCA input which is unbalanced. And don't use the aux input in the front. Also I'd like to hear more about the frequency response as I'm looking at these as possible production monitors.
Great video SB, these look like some great speakers. Hmm I agree about the static noise, I've noticed that on my Logitech Z523 speakers too, isn't that an issue on all speakers though? I guess yours was really bad compared to others? Nice video though, surprised I hadn't subbed earlier, keep up the great vids :)
I've got mine like a year ago. Everything was great until one of the speakers started doing really annoying, grindy scrunchy sounds. It got worse after few weeks so I had to pull the cabels out. Now I'm basicly using the main speaker only. I'm not sure what happened and I don't know how to fix it.. Any tips?
I want to get them but my question is would you reccomend them? And do they hav good bass?
Static noise is probably a factory error. After seeing your review i came across them at a store,so i tested them first. I turned the volume all the way up without audio playing and there was no static noise.
Glad you do not have the same issue. Unfortunately there are multiple reports about the same issue on amazon.
hey would this be recommended for recording other than electronica?
8 years later. If you have that humming issue, just REALLY tighten the transformator screws on the bottom of the right speaker. I still use them today and this really fixed this issue for me… Audio quality of those speakers is really great for this price.
Hi Oliver,
Thanks for sharing this tip with the screws! Happy to hear that you are still enjoying these speakers.

When I turned off, the speaker emits a noise (arc?) Is this normal? Can it damage them? How can I prevent it?
Well i currently have the Samson StudioDock 3i which have a good audio quality and zero noise. They are also fairly cheap. You will find a video about those speakers on my channel.
Oh yes, if only the static noise would not be =(
Would have loved to keep them.
Thanks for watching!
I got these speakers, they are for me the best thing ever, I love them. Im making dubstep on them
Ground issue the static noice?
Love these speakers. and the littl ebrother of these, the #4769226 xps 60 dj speaker. Both sets are amazing! I have no issues whatsoever! sound is near perfect. I get no static noise problems and I boughthtese 6 times. The actual power adaptor has a humming sound coming form it, but as soon as you flip power switch on for speaker the hum goes away so I have never experienced any noise problems! Trebly, middy, restrained bass sound that is true, real, bright and beautiful! Love them!
Hey there. do you know if these are compatable with an AMP?
Wow das klingt wirklich nicht schlecht. Die muss ich mir auch mal angucken ;)
I get a pair of these today from Amazon for 99€.
I don't know how they gonna sound in a few Months but i have absolutely no static noises or something like that.
They should have a bit more deeper bass but they have great sound for that Price.
Glad to hear that you are happy with them!
Update: I just did some research and found some other people that are complaining about the same issue, seems like a lot of XPS 2.0 80 have this static noise issue.
good bass?
Hercules XPS 2.0 80 or Reloop ADM-5? Can't decide...
I am honestly not sure if astore does it justice. It was not that loud so you probably can't hear it in the store.
aaaand... what is the impedance of each speaker?
WHERE ARE THE DIFFERERNCES BETWEEN THAT ONE AND THE KRK RP5 ???? PLS HELP!!!!
I have bought these a few days ago, but I'm really enjoying these. I don't have any static noise problems though, so maybe there's something wrong with the speakers you have?
Or maybe something is wrong with my ears of course ;)
I love 'm! A real bang for your buck
i think i just learned more in less than a minute by reading this than i learned during my entire high school... :) thanks for the comment
Well, almost right. The 'hum' is because RCA is unbalanced. This means that the audio ground and chassis ground aren't seperated. RCA is know for this kind of trouble, especially in conjunction with computers. In other words all the ground shit also gets on your audiosignal.
You could try using a groundloop isolator. Google them or search on ebay.
@earlbee31 Oh yes I sent them back the static noise was just too bad.
Kein Problem. Halte mich auf dem laufenden ob die gut sind! ;)
Yes, fortunately my imac does not have those issues.
That's why the speakers are called DJ speakers. They are named that for a reason and if u turn down the treble would help too
With EMU 1212m (Jack to RCA connection) I dont hear any static noise.
alphadimension Thats good to know!
I bought these speakers and I loved them until I blew them up. It seems that the cord that plugs into the power adapter will also plug into the speakers themselves.
I moved and when I was setting them back up I did not notice that the power adapter was unplugged. I just saw the end of a plug, looked at the design , looked at the back of the speaker and they looked the same. I plugged it in and BANG!. They blew up and there was sparks and smoke. I now know what a speaker looks like when it gets 120v straight to it.
I contacted Hercules a couple of times and never got any response. Poor customer service.
I returned them to Future Shop and they gave me a store credit due to the fact that they don't carry them anymore. Which is unfortunate because I really loved these speakers.
It been a year since I lost them and have been wanting them back since. I'm going to have to buy another set. They are really nice little speakers for the price.
you make dubstep? whats your artist name? i will listen to some of your tracks, i make hardstyle my self, just need to upload some stuff on youtube :)
Thank you very much!
If you really want to monitor the audio of your videos that noise is simply not acceptable.
got mine for 49.99 canadian and these are simply amazing for the price that i got them and i do not even here any static noise i think that even for the regular price your money is very well spent
Wow the price is amazing!
unfortunately this is not the case because other customers are reporting similar issues.
You talk about the noise in your video and I think I know why that is. It's because this speaker system has a 'floating' ground. So if for example your computer is grounded but your speakers aren't you get something called a groundloop. That's what I think the noise is. Whats your opinion on this?
Sorry I am not sure about that.
heh, first I thought you were Dutch, but you are German eh ?
Good English vocabulary for a German person, no offense.
Nice review. I've got a customized Hercules DJ Console 4-Mx and I was looking for an affordable set of studio monitors and noticed Hercules has speakers as well.
Still not sure whether I will get this set or a more expensive set.
Thanks !
The sound quality is good enough for it but the static noise makes them useless for producing in my opinion.
As far as I am aware the KRK are way better, but they also cost 120 bucks each. So you pay twice the money.
it's probably because they're active speakers and aren't shielded well enough
just buy: Turtle beach amigo 2
it's is a extended audio card, USB plug-in. it will make the sound quality better :)
dude try replacing cables, the static noise will go away!
or it could just be the grounding causing it
Leider nicht. Hoffe die haben nicht das gleiche Problem mit dem Surren.
If you put your ear against the speaker you will hear any sound.
Digga mach mal ein deutsches Video bitte. Wie Verbinde ich es mit dem interface
Mine caught on fire... I had them, then the power cable started smoking out the back of the speaker... Waste of money...
+Liam Connell oh wow that is crazy
+Liam Connell that happens to a lot of speakers after using being too loud etc
Kot Filemon haha so truee
Still not as good as owning them.
bla bla bla bla bla bla
Thank you!
