Blue Underground is second to none when it comes to a beautiful filmic presentation. I would say the movie looks natural in color with great depth and detail. This blows away the James Cameron 4k masters. It just shows who respects the integrity for a movie shot on film and who wants to tinker with it to make it look like it was shot digitally.
Well it's not that he wants his films to look digital. He doesn't like grain. And thats the issue. Is removing the grain because when you don't that it smooths out everything. Other then that his 4K's looks spectacular.
Damn it, I guess it's time for a rare upgrade.
Thanks for the comparison...
I'm curious how you would compare the new bluray...not the UHD to the previous bluray release?
It's from the same 4K transfer. So all the colors and bennifits are the same. You just don't have 2160p resolution or HDR grading.
@@TwinFlicks OK 🙂 Thanks
Another thing I'm interested in knowing...Does the new release come with a booklet as the previous one?
I'll have to double check. I'll let you know when I get back to the studio
@@TwinFlicks Thanks 🙂
Sooo you are say the Blue Underground crew know what they are doing and take pride in their work? Even on a "shoestring budget" "40 year old" film? I concur. That is why it is so disappointing when a blockbuster at release and highly anticipated film from a major studio claims it is the best they can do with their AI clean up work. Those studios/directors took the lazy, fast, cheap way out and then have reviewers excuse it away. Blue Underground crew should be contracted out for these big releases. Some pride and craftsmanship would be shown then.
You left Bob Clark's best (and most underrated) film off your intro: the weird comedy action classic Loose Cannons with Gene Hackman & Dan Aykroyd. Great review otherwise, though.
Oh damn i completely forgot about that one!
@@TwinFlicks so have the boutique labels. Ha! I hope it gets a blu-ray upgrade soon.
