To Jamie, Scott absolutely deserves more credit than he is given. His contributions to music are as impactful as any other popular artist or band. In my mind, Scott is on the list of greats we have lost and his music helped millions of us get through some very tough times. The world is full of ignorant and cruel people who feed on being jerks. I still use his music to help drown them out.

I have a Jeremy Brown guitar pick from ottobar in baltimore from 4 days before he died, and I saw STP with Weiland a few times in the DC/bmore area in the last years of his life. He was clearly still using made obvious by the things he would say and rant about in between songs. I mean L love the guy but it was really bad and obvious, especially as someone who has recovered, those signs stand out.

I could see where the paranoia came from when you're surrounded by piranhas- it is a strange parralel that mental illness can exacerbate your negative emotions.The industry really had it out for him- I think. We hear of so many stories of doctors being bought to lead one down a bad path...look at Britney's old doctors from her family...I'm glad Jamie was there to stop that, because doctors really really will over-prescribe if you have no one looking out for you. They make you feel so bad for being "sick" when they throw the book of meds on you, you just accept. It's a bad system overall. For most who haven't seen the effects of medicine firsthand on others; Many do just assume drugs... I could def see someone who had to be "on" move so slow from bi-polar drugs as well. Huh? I'm grimacing at some of the things she said. This is a short clip of a long interview about mental health and her wanting to clear the air about her experiences, it's as relevant as anything else.
I've seen comments pushing back on her answer, how Scott technically did not die from an overdose but still had drugs in his system, so what's the big difference? Well, it's a big difference for her and those who cared for him. She was desperately trying to get him to turn a corner, and he was in some respect. He finally had the right people around him. But unfortunately, the damage from years of abuse was done. There's a meaningful difference between if he was still actively doing hard drugs or not (he wasn't). It's still sad either way, but it's comforting to know he had a loving wife that did all she could.
