Would have been funnier if they kept the original myth. Thor cross dressing as Freya and Thrym wondering why his "Freya" has a beard was hilarious.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that Loki's idea? They didn't include Loki in any norse mythology due to him being Artreus in this universe.

Great Teacher In a way, Mimir said it. "Thor revealed himself". I guess Mimir didn't want to tell that part of the story as he was a friend of the Giants.

"No object of power makes you what you are." Young Kratos remained the merciless Ghost of Sparta even though on multiple occasions his weapons and powers were either removed or voluntarily surrendered. Now that he wants to be a good father and a role model for Atreus, nor will the Blades of Chaos stand in his way.

You clearly see Mimir hate the way Odin treat Freya afterwards, and Kratos sensing the topic may be about rape, quickly cut the conversation short to avoid the topic been mentioned to his young son. That is father figure right there. Atreus probably cannot understand how can a man so ruthlessly treat his own wife.

But for Thor he's just an evil and merciless butchering bastard from the start, Kratos might be similar to him in GOW 3 but unlike him of course Kratos was at least had some degree of mercy or compassion to others before the Gods drove him mad as shown in Ascension, and he doesn't kill someone for fun or for his own amusement either, and he still able to feel regret and sorrow after everything he done. Even Zeus, Ares, or Kratos himself would find Odin or Thor repulsive.

The Giants are generally peaceful in nature, so Thor was kinda ‘bullying’ them. The gods and Titans that Kratos faced were cruel, warmongering assholes, so he was fighting ‘someone with his own size’. Thor was slaughtering people where they can’t fight back, while Kratos was really fighting, so no they don’t have the same level of achievement. When Thor was fighting Giants that is warrior in nature like Starkadr or the World Serpent, he can’t touch them.

Listening to Mimir tell it, it's interesting how the giants themselves were skewing the stories of their history with the Aesir to paint themselves as heroic underdogs and the Aesir as murderous butchers. Imagine if the roles were reversed.
"There was a treacherous and devious Aesir god named Bragi who stole Laufey's axe while she was asleep! And then he had the gall to offer it back to her, but only if she agreed to marry him. Laufey was furious and indignant, and instead happened upon a cunning plan for revenge. She concealed her husband Farbauti from sight, and went back to Asgard with her 'new husband' while Farbauti followed in secret. And once Bragi offered the axe to her as a wedding dowry, Farbauti revealed himself and the two took their bloody revenge on him for his arrogance."

In term of cruelty i would say Thor, he's evil from the start, murdering innocent people for no reason or for his own amusement, and committed genocide to the giants just because of a stupid prophecy. Kratos might be cruel but Thor is a total psychopath along with his father Odin.
