- 7.1 Hmong Language - Phrases & Idioms - Sandwich Words & Four Word Phrases
This lesson will cover two grammar styles that we don't really have in English. Sandwich phrases are where a two-part word gets a pronoun placed in between them. And Four-Word phrases are a poetic style that is not represented in dictionaries. But we'll show you how to understand these styles of grammar, how to find definitions, and how to use them easily yourself! :)
I'm happy to share this with you because I was grateful when someone explained them to me and helped me know how to use them.

Wow
can I just tell you how amazing your videos are?! I’ve been sending your videos to Hmong friends who can definitely improve and learn more about their own language. I want to appreciate that your videos are so thorough and informative ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! What a compliment! Thank you so much for sharing the videos and for telling me how you feel about them. I try so hard to be accurate and share information in a way that can be understood and used. Thank you so much!!!! 😃
I have a friend that speaks Hmong as their native language and I wanted to learn- ua tsaug os
Excellent explanation! You should teach at a University.
I don’t know about that, but I am so grateful that you shared that with me. It’s so encouraging! 💫
basically "kev" in front of a word it just turn that word to a noun.
thanks for the explanation, i was curious as to weather there was a "proper" syntax, my fear when attempting to speak is, my phrasing it correctly, as in word order, any other videos or sources of study material you may recommend will be greatly appreciated
Thanks. I totally understand what you’re saying!!! In the written part of all of my You Tube videos you’ll see that my husband also teaches Hmong, especially grammar, and we both have a website together with extra resources and learning materials. Please come check it out.

This is how i would translate "Money is not everything but everything needs money" to hmong using word phrases.
“Nyiaj” tsis yog txhua tsav yam, tiamsis txhua tsav txhua yam yuav tsum siv “nyiaj”.
Thanks so much for the contribution. I always appreciate it!!!
Hi! Your video is awesome! I hope you don't mind if I make a comment on your pronunciation on los lus: "Nco txiaj ntsig," the pronunciation for ntsig, doesn't sound correct to me. You say "nrig" which is not same as "ntsig." I hope you don't mind. I like your videos and it is awesome that you know Hmong! Please continue your video.
I don’t mind at all. I’m still not native yet. Maybe someday. 😂
@@Tswv863SarahGore You sound very native! Some of the words are just a bit difficult to say because of the placement of the tongue and mouth. We use all parts of the mouth to form the sounds. Even as a native, sometimes I have too have problems. 😅
Hi, I'd like to learn more about you. Do you have a Facebook page that I can follow? Hit me up...
