Is there in the Hmong language that has a R sound? (Rah sound) like my name Ron. And if there is, how would you write it?
I'm not an expert on how English words and names are borrowed into Hmong, but it probably goes something like Loos, or even left as it is. Tones are a bit tricky since English is atonal; most borrowings use the s tone or "cim mus". For example, "America" in Hmong is "As-Mes-Lis-Kas", shortened to "Mes-Kas" in most situations.
There are no R's in Hmong; the closest sound to it is an L. It's quite the opposite of Japanese: they have an R but no L. This is one of the reasons why Hmong parents may say Ryan as lion: "Lai Yeem". The O in Ron is like the O in Hmong. In addition, the N at the end means it's nasalized, so it's OO. I hope it answers your question.
We have "R" in the Hmong Romanized Popular Alphabet.
R = riam (or knife)
@@ziaskabhmoob I think you misread the question. I understand there is one, but RPA R is a completely different sound that's more like a hard T. This person was talking about a sound that corresponds to the English R in Hmong, not whether there is an R in the language.
Kuv tua hneev, I shoot using bow
Kuv tua phom l, I shoot gun
Kuv muab rabriam tua nab, I killed the snake using knife.
Haiv Hmoob Thanks for the additions!!
Thank you for doing a good job teaching Hmong language. Just a friendly correction, the word tuav you saying not quite correct, the way you said is tuad. For example: Kuv nyeem ntawv (tuav). Koj phau ntawv nyob ntawd (tuad).
Thank you for the correction. I definitely appreciate it especially since I am not a native speaker. I keep practicing. Thanks for your support!! đ
Are you speaking White or Green Hmong?
So far my videos have been in White Hmong. But in the future Iâll make Green Hmong videos as well. My videos on the alphabet include Green Hmong vowels and consonants though. Since there are only slight differences, I thought it would be good to teach them together instead of making a separate Green Hmong video with only a few sounds.
She's teaching Hmong Dawb (white Hmong Dialect)
amantedelenguaje2, I was wondering the same. Thanks for asking.
Isn't kill the same thing as dead?
Itâs so very similar unfortunately... the same pronunciation just with a different tone. âTuaâ is kill while âtuagâ is dead. And also, to add confusion, âtuajâ is to come, like a visitor. đł Good question!
@@Tswv863SarahGore I'm confused about pronouncing the word "Nco" and "Nrog" it sounds the same to me.
@@bandithvilaychith7377 Good question. The "C" is hard to explain over text like this, but what typically makes that sound (although there different dialects and pronunciations of it), is the edges of the tongue touching the teeth, and then 'letting go' as the air in the mouth gently moves passed and the tongue pulled away from the teeth. But better than that, here is a vide my husband makes on the T, D, and R sound..czcams.com/video/aUN-xyCSFXw/video.html I hope that helps.
Is this how mie-nine spell in english?
Tshuav: aab, aam, aaj, aav, aa, aas, aag - kws yog Moob Leeg hab ne.
Nyob zoo tus phooj ywg kuv yog hmoob kuv zoo siab tau paub thiab pom koj kiv video kuv pab txawb nqa koj tsooj lawm thov koj pab tsawb qas kuv tsooj muaj lus ua tsaug
Ua tsaug ntau os. Koj txhawb kuv heev.
Have you done a video on using one word "sarcasticly" to say yes. For example "yes in hmong yog". Use yog with tone to say "yog-oh"-to asked, "yog-ah"-hell no, "yog-khuj"(wrong spelling)-hell yes.
I canât say as I have done a video on those words. Iâll have to do more investigating on them. Thanks. đ
@@Tswv863SarahGore They're just "tonal homonyms", I'm not trying to "trip you up". You guys are so good at what you guy do.(no sarcasim)
-"man when you say no(anything) it sounds worst! Lmao sorry".
Lolz... lwm lub lwm tiam = next week
Lwm tiam = in the next generation.
Lwm tiam means the next generation?! Wow, I didnât know that.
kuv yog hmoob phaj mab ca koj paub lu hmoob zoo ua luaj li os.. peb cov hmoob nyob nej teb chaw meka ko twb paub lu hmoob li koj na
đđ» Nyob zoo os! Wb tau nyob hauv ThaibTeb 6 xyoos ntau lawm os. Wb muaj phoojywg uas tau mus xyuas PhajMab Teb thiab. Aws, ThaibTeb thiab Mikas Teb muaj Hmoob coob heev. Wb lub zog muaj coob leej wb thiaj xav paub sib txuas lus os. Li ntawd, wb kawm hais lus Hmoob Dawb thiab Hmoob Leej mentsis.
"Kuv tua", literally mean, I shoot...
Haiv Hmoob depends on the context. Tua nyuj can either be shoot cow or kill cow. If you donât have a gun or arrow, then kuv tua is basically just âI killâ.
